    Hey everyone,

It's a beautiful evening here, wall to wall blue sky and still really warm. The horrible little thunder bugs that were out earlier have thankfully now all gone to sleep so windows are open to catch the breeze. Like Candlelight washing is all dried and in the airing cupboard waiting to be ironed, we have just finished a quick tea of chicken fajitas and are about to watch Mastermind.

You are so right Candlelight about Mum and not really wanting to eat alone, her appetite is certainly smaller than it used to be but when she's here with us or out for a meal she really enjoys her food. She admits that when left to her own devices it's just not the same and sometimes ends up just having some toast etc. Have encouraged her to try having smaller but more frequent meals to see if that reignites her appetite, she is also on a cocktail of drugs which can hardly help her frequent upset tummies :(

We are decorating this week, the main bathroom hasn't been done for years and whilst am happy with the tiles have decided to lighten up the walls, with a lovely duck egg blue. Will be on the look out for some new pictures etc to hang when it's all done, also want a wooden bath tidy so that's on my list too. Am going to look for a contrast colour to chalk paint the bath panel and the little storage chest, maybe a grey? Not sure.

Candlelight, your bedroom sounds lovely, it's nice to have a change around now and again isn't it.

Hoglet, enjoy your time, think your step-shildren are still with you?

SM, looking forward to hearing about the new flavour of ice-cream and sorbets you have been making.

Hugs to all, here's hoping for a warm, sunny weekend.

    Much love,
    Lainey xx

  • You are right Lainey. When Mum was alive we used to visit her every Sunday morning, and I would say to her I can't smell your lunch cooking, and she would say, Oh I cooked 2 pieces of chicken yesterday Oh yesss.

It later transpired that more often than not she would have a cup of soup and toast. To be honest she said it was no fun cooking for herself after Dad died, and he always said after a meal "that was very nice thank you"

Hopefully it will be a combination of that and possibly some medication she has which can reduce the appetite.

I love duck egg blue, your bathroom should look lovely, I think you said your stepson was painting to for you. It is fun isn't it, looking for new accessories as well

  • Cheel you are more than welcome. It is a chatty thread, most of mine is trivia, but we are a small band but a happy band.

Please chat away we are good listeners. Sometimes we off load our problems, but we don't try to put the world to rights, just our own little world.

Sometimes it is so much easier to talk to someone who is a little detached from the situation.

I always have a sneaky look in Mum's fridge and it always looks well stocked but wonder if some it goes to waste? It's a shame as she enjoys cooking but it all seems too much effort for just her, Dad was very appreciative of it, especially her cakes :)
My stepson was doing the decorating but had a chance of some temporary work so has taken that, leaving it to his Dad and me!

Hey Cheel, pull up a chair and put the kettle on. We are a small but happy lot who love a chat and general catch up.

Thankyou for the warm welcome Lainey and Candlelight.

Shocking news to wake up to this morning. So sad:(

So today is going to be a busy one. Me, mum and younger sister are starting work on a quilt for older sisters wedding. She's getting married on 10th December and loves Christmas so it'll be a Christmas quilt she can take out every year. Mum and younger sister haven't made much of a quilt before they have both had a go but have not been happy with the results so it'll be me teaching them. We have gone for a simple design of squares and scrappy stripes so nothing complicated in it.

Also I'm looking after my friends two border terriers over night. So that'll be fun for me and my lovely boy.

I'm broke so cheap fun all round this weekend thank goodness!!

Hope you all have nice things planned

    Cheel. Xx

    Morning all,

Dogs behaving well. Son is absolutely loving having them, keeps calling the boy dog 'old buddy, old pal' lol!

Rabbit does not seem to mind dogs tho we have covered her when they ate in the yard and used the run to keep them away from her hutch. I'll put her out to stretch her legs when we take them for their longer walk after sons swimming.

its all go today! But seeing son with dog is half breaking my heart, hes more confident, definitely happier, and seems to get so much from the lil creatures. I dare say you can guess what I'm thinking!

Hope you are all ok xx

Lainey my mum still had one of us 4 kids living with her when my dad died, but I know that when she lived alone she would eat her evening meals in front of the TV, which never happened when dad was alive - I wonder if that would help your mum, to give a bit of company at meal times?

Am currently sitting in my allotment shed having a cuppa and a rest - must remember that weeding & digging up potatoes is not a hangover cure! Thought i would get an early start before the expected rain, I've been here since 7.45am and will do another hour or so before going home for a bath & a bacon sarnie :D

Well darling Mum is now with us for a few days after we took her to the local hospital earlier. I rung this morning and she was very down, almost tearful, in pain with stomach cramps. She had felt much better when she first woke up, had fancied and had boiled egg & soldiers but 30 minutes later was doubled up in pain. Suggested she rang 111 for advice and was given a quick appointment so we dashed over there to take her. She has white blood cells in her urine which would indicate an infection so has some AB's to take, the doc was also concerned about how swollen her tummy is. She has this ultrasound on Thursday so he was ok letting her wait until then to find out why.
There is a batch of chicken soup gently simmering on the hob and a rice pudding in the oven, have asked that she lets me look after her which she has agreed to, must be feeling poorly as usually so independent :(
    Bless her heart, poor Mum.

Lainey So sorry to read your mum is feeling more unwell .I hope the meds kick in and relieve the discomfort . Sending good wishes for the scan . At least you can keep an eye on her until then and hopefully her mood will lift a bit and you will be less worried .
Thanks as always to dear Candlelight for thinking of us . It is a comfort to be aware that you and TA keep us in your thoughts . I hope himself is feeling a bit better re the leg ulcers . I haven't looked at the daily for some time but will hopefully be back there once I gather my brain cells together once more . The bedroom sounds lovely and restful . Take care x
Hi to Elona , I know great progess has been made but need to catch up on posts . Hope you are feeling at home and yourself and the family are well .
Welcome to Cheel who politely asked if she could post . Unlike myself who sort of crept in when nobody was looking .
    Take care all
