  • Good evening all,

Lainey I am so sorry Mum isn't well, but I know you will look after her, and hopefully once she has had the scan you might know what you are up against. There again she might be another lady of mystery like myself and it won't show anything :). Getting old is no fun believe me.

Polly thank you for your good wishes I think the ABs are kicking in now the leg isn't quite so inflamed. He has to go for bloods on Monday and see the GP on Tuesday to see if his kidneys are starting to function any better. I suppose you still rushing around like a mad thing, try to take a breather for a little while, easier said than done I know.

Cheel I do so admire you and your quilt making, is your sister's quilt going to be reds? If someone made me one I would be more than thrilled, what a lovely wedding present and so much work.

Elona, how are you, are you anywhere near straight yet. You won't know yourself when everything is straight. It will be like a customer made home just for you because you have chosen everything.

Hoglet is in Australia so I hope she is having a good time with her DH and stepdaughters, evidently the weather should be warmer than in New Zealand.

We bought DD a large mirror for her living room today, a new piece of art work for her kitchen and a rather posh 2 tiered drainer. She has worked so hard on her flat from painting walls to furniture, to putting up new curtains and shampooing the carpets. Her new suite should be delivered by the end of next week. She has paid the price though because her knee is very badly swollen and her back is bad, but she is, quite rightly, really pleased with herself, and we are so proud of her. Normally we would be doing a lot of it but of course she knows her Dad can't do that anymore.

We are taking her out for a carvery tomorrow because I am sure she hasn't had proper meals. I did invite DGD but she is out celebrating a friends birthday tonight, so will be in no fit state to eat at lunchtime :)

I am with the GP on Monday afternoon to have my BP tablets changed on instructions from the renal specialist, and Himself is there on Tuesday morning for the results of his blood test.

I hope Lyn is enjoying herself and taking a breather from here. I know when I spoke to her last He Who Knows had gone fishing and she had the house all to herself. There will be a lot of work in the garden and on the allotment at the moment what with all the rain and then a bit of sun.

SM have you had time for sorbet or icecream this week? I meant to say I tried making the lemon shells with sorbet in but I found it quite difficult to get all the pith out of the lemon and of course that makes it bitter

Well have a good weekend all and take care

    Love to all

Thank you for your well wishes for Mum, she was completely shattered poor thing but did manage a small bowl of soup followed by a scoop of ice-cream.

She is now safely tucked up in our spare room, both windows open to catch the breeze. Have told her to sleep in as long as she wants, she just needs to rest.

    Night all xx

    Hello,

Lainey, hope your mum is better soon.xx

Candlelight, yes reds and greens with some gold in some of the patterned fabrics. We still have to choose the main fabric as that lot will be the scrappy blocks. I've got to cut 200 2.5 by 5.5 inch bits to get us started!! Lol!!

Dogs ate staying an extra night. And the reason I'm posting ao late is,that they are both on sons bed. Son is in my bed!! Snoring!! So I'm catching up on here waiting for the sandman. Its been so hot today a d still is so sleep is elusive xxx

Hi Mila, yes I do. I swear by it for accuracy, and as this quilt will be strip pieced and mum and sister have never done it before I'm even marking all the 1\4 " on to the strips! I kbow its overkill but its their first go, its bigish (65" square) and I want them to ha e a satisfying result!! Lol!

Just come back from a 'round the block' with the dogs. Will be sad to see them go layer today xx

Lainey I hope mum slept well last night and all goes well this week .
Candlelight hope all goes well for both you and himself medically this week . Your daughter sounds a lovely lady , well done to her for sorting her home out . I know you are both proud of her but she obviously learned by example so pat on the back for raising a capable young woman . I hope you managed to go to the carvery , time for her to put her feet up now methinks .
I think it was here I saw Ginnyknit recently , If you visit the thread i am sending good vibes to you and the family and hope for better times I was sad to read your plants were struggling . Hello everyone!

Boiling hot here today. I've a lot of work to do and no motivation, but I'm desperate for some money so that will have to motivate me!!

Sometimes it feels like I'm getting there and other times it looks like I've the biggest mountain to climb.

The rabbit is a monkey! She just figured out how to open the door on her run. She just kept pawing it till the handle flipped up! I've tied it shut and she's so cross with me. I have to say that even when it feels like I will never get out of the overdraft, her little cuddles and character cheer me right up. Oh and i haven't spent overdraft money on a bunny (i just realised that's how it sounded!!) my sister got her for my son. And he really is getting so much out of being a rabbit owner .

Anyway, i hope you ate all doing ok?

    Lainey how's your mum?

miladavesmoney do you make patchwork quilts too? So satisfying.

Candlelight good luck with the gp this afternoon.

Hello to Polly, did you get your username from the film? Its one of my favorites!

Hope you are all coping with the heat!

    Cheel xx

    Wave Hello to everyone

DDs and SIL came round for lunch and got me organised. All the clean laundry has been put away, the linen cupboard is sorted and most of the books are sorted and in the bookcases. They even assembled three breakfast bar stools so we could use the new breakfast bar in the new kitchen/diner.

The garden is looking a bit better and we were able to eat outside which was lovely. The two huge fish ponds have been demolished!!

New bedding is now on my bed ( I got blue poppy in the Christy sales) and looks lovely and fresh. I ordered a new double mattress for upstairs and got a bit of a shock when it arrived yesterday morning - DD and SIL helped me wrestle and shove it up the stairs and then took the old one to the tip.

I have just ordered two sun loungers for dds to use in the garden when we get a nice day and am thinking about getting a metal day bed for the upstairs study so it can be used for seating and also as a single bed. Hoping I can find things I like while the sales are on. So far I have been doing quite well in finding bargains online.

    Candlelight

Good luck with the medical appointments.

    Hugs to all

    Afternoon everyone,

Gosh but it's warm here, had to get a few bits of shopping after work so not long been in, first thing did was to have a cool shower and put shorts on, our office has no air-conditioning and wasn't a good place yo be :(
Mum had another good nights sleep and apart from her scrambled eggs yesterday morning nothing so far has brought back the stomach cramps. She seems brighter in herself and apparently has spent most of the day so far sitting in the shade reading.

Hope all is going well with hospital appointments etc Candlelight.
Elona, it's really sounds like you are getting there with your new home.
Cheel, love the bunny cuddles, our animals are real comforts aren't they.

    Love to all xx
  • Good afternoon,

A beautiful day here, really warm. Washing dried and salad for our meal this evening with baby new potatoes.

Went to the hospital with Himself this morning to give blood and I saw the GP this afternoon. He has changed my BPtablets, I have to take my blood pressure twice a day for the next 2 weeks and then go to see him. He said be aware they may make your ankles swell!!!! Believe me I have yet to have a BP tablet that doesn't make my ankles swell, we shall see.

Will go in with Himself tomorrow when we see his GP, I hope the bloods show some improvement.

I must make an appointment to have my hair cut. I have found one nearer to home so will pop in there tomorrow.

I am out with the "girls" Thursday evening for a catch up so looking forward to that

Lainey I am glad Mum is feeling a little better, good luck for the ultra sound on Thursday I think you said.

Elona lovely to hear about the bungalow it sounds as though it is nearly finished with renovations.

Cheel, our pets are very precious to us aren't they. How old is your son? You may not have read, but we have Flora the cat who actually rules our home, and is in my chair, as always, fast asleep. She adopted us and brought with her 5 kittens. My DD found homes for all the kittens after they were weaned and Flora nw lives with us, and we love her to bits.

Hoglet actually has 3 cats and she loves them just as much as we love Flora. I think they keep you sane with their affection.

Enjoy the rest of your day

    Much love
