Afternoon everyone,
It seems like I am the only one in the house that is still left awake, both the girls and my DOH are all snoozing away after a big Sunday lunch and in the case of the humans a large glass of wine.
The dogs love it when I cook a roast as normally they have a few left over veggies after our main meal but with a roast they always get some of the meat & pots as well, I know, they are spoilt rotten but are my babies so it's allowed
Yes, it's Mum's appointment tomorrow Candlelight, my SIL is taking her in and I will pop round after work. We had a lovely afternoon yesterday with her at the steam rally, she walked round for a good hour, stopping once for a cup of tea and again for an ice-cream, every since I was a little girl she has always had the same, an oyster shell, and that's what she had. Enjoyed every minute of it as wellShe certainly seems to be eating better which is good, but we are all obviously anxious about tomorrow. It will be a hard week as Tuesday would have been my darling Dad's birthday so another tough day, but she is a strong lady beneath her soft exterior and will cope am sure.
Not much else planned this week, have decided to start looking for another job as really not that happy there and really dislike all the politics etc. So will keep my eye out and my CV up to date, you never know what's round the next corner do you?
The dogs are happier that the weather has turned cooler, my old girl sleeps most of her days away now but is in otherwise reasonable health, she still has a little run and play now & again.
Poor old Bill is being pestered by flies and mites but have got him a new spray that hopefully will help, they nibble round his heels and make them bleed poor thing.
Am glad to hear that Himself is feeling a bit better Candlelight, thank goodness the heart nurse put him back on the right tabs, sometimes think the GP's are so rushed for time that they just snatch at a solution instead of looking close enough at records etc, still all the targets, deadlines can't help!
SM, hope you are ok and enjoying your summer, no doubt you are busy making that ice-cream.
Hoglet, have you been out on your bike lately?
Cheel, thank you for the daily updates, always read and enjoy them. Sorry you have been suffering with your sinuses, they always plague me too but find that those salt water spray things help?
Another one here who misses Lyn dreadfully, her wise words always brightened a dreary day.
Anyways, feel my eyelids going now, hard life isn't it :rotfl:
Love to all, take care lovely people.

Hi everyone,
Lainey - not been out on my bike for over a month as the weather is so miserable. A bit of rain isn't too bad but it's been very windy too and cycling in that is no fun. I haven't been on my indoor trainer either since the girls have been here as errrrr cycling indoors is very hot and I tend to throw my shirt off halfway through. Don't want to traumatise them!
Candlelight - yes definitely still dreary weather, the cats are warm and snuggly indoors, they don't like the miserable weather. As soon as there's a patch of sun they're out in it though. Sorry to hear about Pilchard, you've been doing a wonderful thing by him. We haven't seen Sad Cat for ages now, but we always give him some biscuits if we do see him. He's a mangy old thing but he knows he'll get biscuits from us. He hangs around under next door's fence, just close enough for me to see him, and then waits for the biscuits. Poor old boy.
I've been doing some maths and have worked out that we can pay the mortgage off much more quickly now our final loan has finished. That's especailly good news for me because once it's paid off I can work fulltime on my business and I won't need the day job. I thought DH would need some convincing but actually he's on board.
Ooooooh I almost forgot to say - my cousin had her baby. She is a whopping great big thing at 9 pounds 8 and has great big chubby cheeks. She doesn't look like a new born at all. We went to visit on Saturday once they were home and took them a dinner for the evening so they didn't have to cook.
I am another one who misses Lyn, please tell her that Candlelight when you next speak, so she knows I'm thinking of her.
Better get onto some work. :-/
Much love
Hoglet xx0 -
Hoglet such good news about the mortgage, and that you can work on your own business. Much more satisfying to work for yourself I am sure.
My goodness that's a big baby, first size baby clothes won't last her very long, if at all.
I will tell Lyn, Hoglet, I spoke to her today and she is fine. Nell is due home from Borneo on Wednesday after her school trip, so there will be lots of spoiling from Mum. She is busy of course and when I spoke to her this morning He Who Knows was digging up potatoes and she was dehydrating mushrooms. I think their produce is doing very well this year.
Take care and lovely to catch up on your news.
Much love

Hi
I haven't left the country ( I may wish I had though) just been stupidly busy at work and home. No more ice cream making recently. I did make lots of jam though and have frozen quite a few bags of gooseberries for later in the winter.
My tomatoes have finally decided to behave and ripen :j which excited me a lot. I hope they continue to flourish.
I've had a rotten cold, cough and sore throat. There seems to be so much going around. I'm sure the damp weather is to blame up here. I've also torn my thumb nail vertically and it simply won't heal, keeps splitting which is causing quite a bit of pain. I had no idea how much I used my thumb for until it was so tender.
Lots of boring paperwork to attend to here so I better get on with it. Costco membership renewals, hubby's gun licence and several other hits. All time consuming but necessary - seems every piece of mail I get just now seems to need a cheque written.!0 -
Hello my friends, have decided I've been stubborn enough about not posting and I miss you all even though I've been reading along and nattering to you by messaging. Nell is back from expedition all safe and well but is nursing a very sore and swollen foot so I'm here with her until Monday by which time she should have gotten over her jet lag and have been able to keep the foot elevated and hopefully that will reduce the swelling and inflammation. He Who Knows has gone home today as we are looking after Cookie for the week at our home while her family go away for a week of well earned holiday. We are up to the ears with produce of all kinds and I am processing and freezing on a daily basis and have made a huge batch of redcurrant jelly. The dehydrator is proving to be a useful tool and I've dried lots of long slices of courgette to use as a pasta substitute in lasagne and many mushrooms and beans and have also bought a peeler/corer/slicer gadget to process apples for dehydration. We've started on the cider making already, the girls bought us a 'scratter' for Christmas to process the apples for pressing whch is proving to be a godsend and so much quicker that washing, chopping, food processor chopping and then pressing, it's fun to use too but then I'm odd you know that.
Thank you all so very much for your support, love and kindness through a difficult time for me when I chose not to post, your gentle and loving words are the balm that kept me going when I was hurt to my soul, I am in debt to each of you to a degree that I could never repay, know that I am more than grateful to each one of you and if I can ever reciprocate most certainly will do so, bless you all, Lyn xxx0 -
MsLW, lovely to read your words and will hopefully see you again soon. I've missed you.

Hello Lyn our lovely friend, how fantastic is it that you feel up to posting again :j good start to the weekend!
Ouch re Nell's foot, hope the inflammation goes down soon and she is up & about. You sound like your life is busy and full with all the bountiful harvest coming in, just as we all imagined it would be!
We have had a stressful week with the ongoing concerns re Mum's health, the latest is that we are waiting on the results of a MRI scan that she had on Wednesday, currently we are looking at a large cyst in her tummy area but they are obviously concerned re other possibilities. The good news is that she has had a better couple of days with eating etc so is feeling stronger.
Work is horrendous too, with office politics, downright rude colleagues and a toxic atmosphere so the CV has been updated and am looking elsewhere. If it all gets too much I will walk away without a backward glance
So thank goodness for my darling Captain Scarlet who is, as ever, a tower of love and strength. Along with caring family and friends + of course cuddles with my lovely fur babies I am much loved and looked after. I count my blessings every day.
Hope all is well my friends and you are all looking forward to the weekend.
Much love

Hi LAINEY so much on your plate at the moment love isn't there love? The work situation is horrendous at a time when your worries and efforts should all be directed to getting Mum sorted out, life is sometimes overwhelming and very hard to cope with but I hope you know that our little group is always with you when times are dark and you feel alone, we are keeping you and Mum in our hearts and minds and prayers and just standing with you to give you the strength and steel you need to see all this through and dealt with. There will come a time when all this will be sorted out and the clouds will recede and the sun will come back into your lives and until then we're here for you whenever you need us.0
