PIC lovely to see you, I hope the family and the animals are all OK.
Perhaps if we all shout loud enough Lyn will hear us
Take care, don't be a stranger

Been a rough couple of years so treading back slowly.
We have made the decision to stop fostering the cats, for many reasons. I've still got Manky Charlie who will be with us until he passes (as he's not called Manky Charlie for nothing) Two of the three pens have come down today.
I will miss the Cats but not the Charity people...........Crikey they're a breed all to themselves.
One of the boys was in intensive care most of last year.
In fact everything has been doom and gloom so I'm trying to get back on an even keel.
I must say it's taken a turn for the worse on here and I'm not liking what I'm finding, hopefully things will settle down and MrsL will come back............She was my rock when I had to put my 17 year old puss put to sleep.

I am sorry you have had such a rough time, obviously you haven't had time for your blog either,
Gosh that's a long time to be in hospital, poor boy, I hope he is on the road to recovery.
Lyn has been wonderful to me whilst Himself was so ill. She is easy to talk to and a good listener, and always wise words come from her.
We still have Flora the cat, who actually rules the house in a gentle way. She is in my chair, as we speak, fast asleep, and if I happen to sit in "my" chair, she does nothing but meow until I get out.
I hope things are improving for you now Dawn, take care

Oh I am so sorry to read all this this morning. MLW will be so very dearly missed and I do hope she's able to come back to us in time.
I do hope the people responsible realise the far-reaching effects of their actions.
I don't really want to say anything else, other than welcome (back) to some of the new names on the thread.

Hoglet it has been so awful when you know someone you love and respect has been so hurt. Lyn is doing OK, and you know at this time of the year she us going to be very busy anyway, and He Who Knows will make sure she is OK.
I hope you and DH and the cats are well, are the girls still with you or have they gone home now? I am sure you must both have enjoyed having them with you for a while.
Don't work too hard
Hugs

Hi Candlelight
I'm glad to hear she's OK but am so sorry she's had to go through all this.
Yes we still have the girls for another few weeks, we're taking them over to Australia later on this week for a few days. Where we're going it's still warm, although we actually haven't had a bad winter this year. We'll be catching up with our niece whilst we're over there too, and I've just booked a hire car after adding up bus fares to the places we would like to visit - car hire was much cheaper, even including fuel. The cats are being fed by my cousin - who's 38 weeks pregnant. Please everyone have 'don't have the baby next week' thoughts - I do have a back up, who's my cousin's looking-after-the-kids-whilst-she-has-the-baby person, so really, we need no baby next week!
We've had a lovely time with the girls, they've grown into really nice young women. I was a bit apprehensive about their visit as I wanted it to go well for them and DH and they used to be a bit of a handful but, phew, I'm enjoying having them with us.

I do hope after a break Lyn will consider coming back to us. In the meantime we will miss her here. It's very easy for people to hide behind their identities online and behave in appalling ways. I know from several unpleasant PM's I've had just how much vitriol is out there (including the poster who said I was the most bland, boring individual they had ever come across and I had nothing worthwhile contribute to society) - so far I've risen above it however it's not always easy.
Well a great weekend for British sport - although if you read the BBC perhaps that is an inflammatory remark:o very exciting all round and lots of success to celebrate whether you are a motor racing, tennis or cycling fan.
It was nice to have something to smile over up here in the frozen north as the weather seems set to drive us all to distraction. More torrential rain and miserable misty conditions all weekend. When oh when will summer arrive - answers on a postcard please!
I had an ice cream making blitz over the last few days. I made peanut butter and fudge , lemon blackberry custard and chocolate s'mores ice cream. All a bit fiddly and my ice cream maker attachment doesn't make a lot but very nice and well received by my parents.
A busy week ahead. I have a long weekend coming up so I will have to work extra hard to make sure things are covered and keep hoping for good weather. I really need to shampoo my carpets next weekend - I knew cream carpets in a country home weren't the most sensible thing but I thought buying a VAX was the mitigating action needed. I hadn't factory in the need for dry conditions to leave doors and windows open:o
Enjoy the last of the weekend everyone.0 -
I'm back - I have a question for my OS chums.
How often, if at all do you run an empty wash to clean your washing machines?
I'm heartily sick of putting things like white sheets in the machine and having them come out marked when they were OK when I put them in. I can only guess that some of the mess for hubby's working clothes ( oil, grease, diesel and farm stains) gets left behind in the machine and makes its way to later loads.
It's a reasonably new machine but not a new problem so must be something I'm doing rather than a problem with the appliance. Either way it's really getting me down taking what were pristine white sheets out of the machine to find them marked so thoughts welcome.
Because we are in a soft water area I've never felt the need to run and kind of cleaning cycle before - perhaps that's a mistake.0 -
I've only ever done it once - on our free electricity day. :-/0

Hey SM,
I try to do a cleansing wash at least once a month, usually after have wished the dogs blankets etc, otherwise I can get some dark, grassy marks on my light loads? But we do live in a hard water area
