    Good afternoon all,

Yesterday was absolutely glorious, today is not bad just a little overcast. We didn't have rain during the night like some poor folks did, thunderstorms as well I understand.

Himself did both the front and back lawns yesterday and a bit of weeding. We were waiting for a new TV unit to be delivered (date given 7.6.16) needless to say it didn't arrive, tracking the order it is supposed to be delivered today. Why do they give you a date when it is almost impossible to keep to?

Himself's legs have healed really well with the manuka honey, if anyone doubts it please give it a try. I burnt my hand, as usual, in the oven on Sunday , so I put the medical manuka honey on it and the pain had almost gone by the evening, and no blistering.

DGD has now lived with us for 12 months and seems quite happy being here. We don't see a great deal of her, she is at work all day, has a meal with us in the evening, and then either goes out with BF or watches dvDs in her room.

The house one side of us is let to tenants, and I understand are many months in arrears with rent and the LL had to go to court. He changed the locks and they have broken in and I understand have put graffiti over the walls as a parting gesture I assume. They had already left the property before he changed the locks, and having spoken to the LLs wife it is going to cost £1000s to rectify everything. They have been the worse neighbours we have ever had, they are the ones who had dogs, one of which attacked Himself 3 times , I understand doors are hanging off the kitchen cabinets, outside there is a broken WM and chairs, and in the front garden a couple of mattresses. I know I probably sound snobby but it doesn't reflect well on our home. I am so glad they have gone, and I joked with the LL and asked if we could have some nice neighbours .

On Friday I am off for a ultra sound on my "waterworks". I feel absolutely fine now that my UTI has cleared up thanks to the antibiotics, I just hope it is something and nothing.

Lyn you sound to have had a lovely time with the family, such precious moments, and you did well in the charity shop today. The strawberries sound lush, I hope you have a bumper crop, I actually bought some from SM this morning, £2 a punnet so I shall tell DGD and Himself to savour every mouthful:):)

We have just had a lovely bowl of salad for lunch with a crusty roll and Himself will settle down for a short nap. He is sleeping so much better at night and actually stays in bed all night, except for a comfort break. Before he went into hospital he spent every night wandering around and sleeping downstairs in a chair because he couln't lie down. He is now having proper rest and consequently feels so much better in the morning

Lainey I hope Bill improves, I can tell how much you love him and I know it must hurt you to know he isn't as well as you would want him to be. I understand what you mean when you say it doesn't matter how much it costs, we would do the same and we did with our beautiful golden retriever Toby, I imagine Bill costs you a lot more than Toby did. We have downsized to a beautiful black and white cat now, and we love her dearly:):)

SM surprised to see you were over in the US, my sister and bil are home for a while as her son is being married in August.

AOT are you reasonably well my love, I hope so? I made a lovely cake for DGD, BFs father(that sounds complicated doesn't it). I know you are coeliac, as is he, and I made it with rice flour and ground almonds. I put baking powder in, sugar and eggs and it rose beautifully and wasn't heavy at all. Sometimes they have a tendancy to be heavy. I just made it in a small cake tin I had and then just drizzled icing over it. I understand it went down very well.

Hoglet I hope you and the cats are well. You sound to be really busy, goodness knows how you have time for all that cycling, you really must be super fit. Bruce Springstein was at the Arena last Friday where the Wasps play, and being only about 4 minutes away we could hear some of the show. Evidently there were 38,000 fans there and they say "the Boss" was wonderful of course

Well I think that is enough of my chattering

    Much love to you all

  • Hi CANDLELIGHT so nice to hear that himself is well on the mend, marvellous news that the legs are healed. I was telling He Who Knows this morning to tell a friend of ours about the manuka honey dressings as she's having problems with a recurrent ulcer on her leg and it's really limiting her mobility, hope you've both had a super day and weather as good as we've had down here it's been wonderful.

One of my neighbours across the road gave me a real TEA BUSH a few weeks ago, when it arrived it looked a bit sad so I've cherished him a little bit and he's put out beautifully healthy leaves and needs potting on. We've cleared the bed in front of the greenhouse and I think it will be the perfect place to put him. Apparently you let them grow to 3 feet and then create a flat top to the bush and pick the leaves from that, they call it creating a table. He came with all the instructions on processing the leaves to use as tea and I'm looking forward to my first cup. The other chappie that needs repotting is my lemon tree. I found a seed with a rootlet growing from it last year when I was using a lemon so we planted it and he's now about 1 ft tall and putting our side branches. I know he will need to be an indoor plant but he's currently on the garden table outside enjoying summer, again I'm really hoping that we can eventually get him to fruit. My third little planty pal is a nice healthy looking rowan sapling presumably from one of my neighbours gardens, they both have rowan trees, and he's seeded himself just where the eucalyptus tree was that we had to take down after one of the spring storms, lovely when things grow because they want to isn't it?

Candlelight, so interesting that the manuka honey has done the trick on Mr C's legs, we had a horse on the yard a few years back who had a nasty old wound on his leg and the vet recommended that the owners put manuka honey on it to help it heal. Nature is pretty amazing isn't it. Thank you for your kind words re Bill, sometimes think that our animals are all the more precious to us because we have them for a relatively short time, we treasure every moment.

Counting the days down this week until our holiday in Somerset, my beloved is picking Mum up tomorrow lunchtime and then we can make an early start on Friday morning. We can't get into our holiday cottage until 3pm but have already sorted out a nice pub to stop on the way for lunch :) can't wait, have not been to the West Country for years and am very much looking forward to going.

Lyn, am very envious of your homegrown strawberries, they are my favourite fruit and goodness knows how many punnets we go through every summer. Perhaps we should be thinking of growing our own at some point!

SM, not sure if you are home from the states yet, safe journey back if not. Your pet pheasant must be missing you :)

Hoglet, hope the rain is still staying away and you have been able to get out on your bike.

AOT, do hope you are keeping well.

Much love to all, take care x

Lainey have a wonderful time in Somerset. When I was young we had a couple of holidays in a caravan in Burnham on Sea.

I remember there was a wonderful icecream parlour, and Dad gave all three of us pocket money for the week. It wasn't a lot because they didn't have much, but we had heard about these things called "knickerbocker glory":) and he said we could either have one at the beginning of the week or save our money until the end, of course we had it at the beginning. The rest of the week we had a cornet.

Happy times, there are some times when I miss my Dad so much and he has been gone more than 20 years now.

I hope the sun shines on you all

    Much love

Ah Candlelight, what a lovely memory. We hope to spend at least one day at the coast so will look at Burnham on Sea x
  • Slighty sad today as it's a whole year since we lost dear old Docky, we went out for a meal last night and raised a glass (mine was sparkling water) to the old fella. It seems such a short while ago but it's a whole year. I miss him still, I think we probably always will he was such a little character, but it's most often the funny things that we remember nowadays and not the raw hurt of his loss. Bless the little man I hope he's happy and having fun wherever he is now!
  • Oh Lyn, I can't believe it is a year, goodness how time flies.

Take comfort from the fact that we still miss him as well, as we all loved him

    Hugs to you both
