candlelight you poor soul, really getting it in the neck at the moment aren't you.
My wildlife consists of next doors cat chasing the birds away .i too seem to have a good crop of daisys on the lawn, gardener comes this Thursday so they will be mowed away for awhile I wonder why it is that weeds and stuff flourish so much better than plants ??
Mrs Lurchwalker P/F is so painful I had it once a few years ago and it really isn't nice I do feel for you
SM I think I would worry if I had anything like that ,no burgular worth his salt would bother pinching from my house, probably have a whip round for me instead:):)
Sun is shining at the moment but its so changeable I just wish we had a few days of regular sun around 65-70c with no bloomimg rain.
Just going to bone up on a few bits this afternoon for pub quiz tonight.I am useless at chemical sybols etc which is a disgrace as my late Dad was a chemist, but anything to do with science is like double dutch to me:):) but I'm not bad on history or books so it balances things out a bit

Me too JACKIE, I dash round in the mornings getting all the jobs out of the way and look forward to some outside time in the sun in the afternoons.....wrong!!! the sun hides after lunch, the cloud builds and the temperature falls to just cool enough to not sit outside, then the showers! Ne'mind pet, I'm sure we'll get some nice weather sooner or later!0

Hi Jackie, good to see you over here.
DD says it is a good sign because at least the Consultant will have all the results of blood, urine and the ultra sound, so might have some idea of what is going on.
As you know I have only recently finished my 5 years of going for check ups, I just hope it is something that can be resolved quite quickly.
I hope you do well in the quiz tonight

I hope everyone had a nice holiday weekend. It was great to have an extra day to spend tying up lots of little jobs.
I seem to have a visitor outside my French doors this evening so I've retreated from the den in case I scare it. It's a very young, very fluffy blackbird and it has a somewhat agitated mummy bird hopping around it. I'm guessing it can't fly and shouldn't be out on its own. I do hope it makes it back to wherever the nest is and the farm cats are all otherwise occupied this evening.
I had a rude awakening just after 5 this morning. Hubby had left just after 4 and I had just settled down again when my pheasant friend came by. He really is very noisy. Only three squawks but they were loud enough to shatter the peace so tonight I will fill the feeder just before I go to bed and hope there is still food for him when he arrives early. Sometimes I think the animals around here are calling the shots:)
I was too busy to watch the Great British Sewing Bee last night however have recorded it so later in the week I will marvel at the creativity of the contestants and, for a short time, toy with the idea of making myself a piece of clothing. Hopefully the notion will pass quickly!
So, off now for an early night once I've peeked out of the window to see where the little blackbird has gone!0 -
Good morning all,
Absolutely horrible day here, it looks just like winter and we are the 1st June.
We had our new sitting room carpet fitted yesterday, but the fitter din't arrive until 4.15 so it was a day of waiting around. Anyway we are very pleased with it, just have to stop the cat digging her claws in. I have given her a piece of carpet with her scratch box on top of it so I hope she will be content with that.
I have a nail appointment this morning and then we are off out for a carvery. I hadn't realised my sister was home from the Sunshine State, I thought she was coming home sometime in June. I had a text from her yesterday saying they were coming over to Costco and wanted to take us out for lunch.
We were up early this morning DGD was off to head Office so Himself took her into town to catch the coach. She went by train last time but she had to change 3 times, so she thought the coach would be easier.
We have booked a cottage in Norfolk for mid September. Himself thinks he is on target, fitness wise, and wanted me to book it. He did really well yesterday because of course we had to move furtniture out for the carpet to be fitted. He was in bed by 9 p.m. because he had missed his siesta.
Have a good day all

Hi everyone,
So sorry about your weather Candlelight, but I'm so pleased you're pleased with your new carpet. :-)
SM - pheasants can be so noisy! Hopefully the extra food will let you have a lie in. The animals definitely call the shots around here!
We've had torrential rain for the past 10 days but today we have bright, clear skies at last. It's nippy though, now that we're into winter. not nippy by UK standards (5 degrees overnight) but cold enough as we STILL don't have any heating. Next year we are DEFINTIELY putting a heat pump in, unless me move..... I woke up with 2 cats under the duvet, that's a sure sign it's chilly.
We have a long weekend coming up which will give me a chance to catch up on some work and get some cycling done. It's 80 km on Sat and 55 km I think on Sunday. DH is reffing again this weekend after having a few weeks off with an injury.
Not much else to report from us, hoope you're all well.
Much love,

Morning everyone, we're just back from a few days away visiting Nell, then down to Ruthie and the lad with Nell and the two of us went on for a couple of days away in Somerset and went to the Bath and West show yesterday. Fantastic show and the weather, although it was grey and cool wasn't wet so ideal conditions for the walking that seeing all the exhibits and stalls entailed. I got us a couple of really nice quality sheepskin rugs to go by our chair/sofa for warm feet this winter, lovely and thick wool on both of them and we found some honey fudge which is rare as hens teeth normally and some specialist cheeses from a local cheese maker. Then we drove to a new to us place just outside Farrington Gurney on the way back towards Bristol where they have THE BOOK BARN which is 1,000,000 second hand books to browse and a lovely little tea and cake caf! where you can look through what you've pulled off the shelves to make sure you want it, a magical place and if you're in the area so very worth a visit. I got a Danish Cookbook and a Bon Mamam Recipe book using their jams and jellies in recipes. I've had the Bon Maman book out of the library very often and I got this one, in new condition for £1 super stuff. He Who Knows got a couple of Neville Shute books as he wants top re read them, so he's happy too. Nice to be home again now, I've been to the Co Op and we have milk so tea is in the immediate future, very nice too!!!0

I have just picked the first ripe STRAWBERRY of the season from the garden bed!!!!! IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!!!0

Hello everyone,
Bbrrr Candlelight it's been cold and wet here in East Anglia all week. Have had to put a thick throw back on our bed and the heating on for an hour in the mornings and evenings just to take the chill off, unheard of in JuneAdd to that all the flooding / spray on the roads means that I have been dreaming of warm sunshine! Not just for me but poor old Billy and even Rosie dog have been suffering with their arthritis flareing up.
BUT, the forecast is supposed to change from tomorrow and turn nice again so fingers crossed they are right, my washing basket is filling up fast as everything seems to take ages to dry in the airers.
Have been into Cambridge this morning for a much needed hair-cut plus picked up a few toiletries ready for our holiday next Friday. We are off to Somerset for a week, taking Mum with us and was interested to read where you had been LYN especially like the sound of that Book Barn. We are staying in a cottage in Meare and have planned visits to Bath, Wells and Glastonbury and I can't wait :j
SM we get pheasants in the garden too and they have no respect for anyone wanting to sleep, likewise the jackdaws who have nested in the chimney pots despite the cowling! Add to that the sparrows nesting in the gable-end eaves we don't get much sleep! Don't mind though as like the thought of all these little souls sharing our home, we even have a bat that comes out at twilight and flies around the house catching his tea!
Anyways, fancy a cup of tea plus a piece of my Mum's mincemeat cake. Take care everyone and have a good weekend whatever you do.
Much love

Hi LAINEY if you want somewhere in Bath to get a really nice meal for a very reasonable price find the COTE BRASSERIE in Milsom Street Parade, they have a super 'Plat du Jour' but even if you eat off the main menu the food is light, fresh and delicious at prices that won't make you frown.0
