Yep me too MrsL. I don't enjoy Christmas at all but I do like New year, and then the feeling of a brand new page to scribble on
And of course, the light coming back gradually.

Happy New Year to you all and blessings for a fulfilling 2016.
Another one here who loves the gentle routines of her everyday life, over the next few days will fill in the new calendar and make tentative plans, goals I wish to achieve, places I would like to visit. Not a new start but certainly a new chapter x0 -
Good morning,
Happy New Year to you all, and another one who likes to be tidy and I look forward to spring.
The decorations are put away, the house has been cleaned, washing up to date (almost) and I am going to meal plan this year. I have decided to do a big shop at the beginning of the month and then only buy fruit, veg, bread and milk through the month. I am sure I spend too much on food.
I am not one for making resolutions but I think this is a sensible one. I want to buy some new stair carpet in the spring and I think I should be saving for it now.
It is very quiet outside and clear and frosty.
Have a good weekend and I hope it is a peaceful and healthy new year for us all.
Much love

I am another one who likes to get back in the routine of everyday life and looks forward to spring! Am looking forward to making plans, get better at meal planning and being thrift where I can so I can enjoy my move to working 4 days rather than 5.
Wishing you all a healthy and happy 2016 2019, move forward with positivity! I am the opposite of Eyeore :rotfl:0 -
Morning all, house tidy and cleaned yesterday so today will be 'floors' day and I'll vacuum the whole house and steam mop all the floors I can. Popping to the shops for some veg later on as I'm a bit short and still running on bendy bits from the bottom of the fridge and those are getting thin on the ground. I've a tray of baby mushrooms to use up today so I'm making garlic mushroom pasta for my main meal, and lots of ends of cheese so cheesy leeks on toast for supper looks on the cards too, it's a Hugh FW recipe and is really tasty.
Dreary and wet old day out there today after a really blustery night, the windows were like pan pipes with the wind howling through them so I popped some earplugs in and managed a fairly decent sleep, can only be good! DD and He Who Knows are getting Pushycat back from the cattery today, I know he'll be so happy to be in his home again he'll not leave their sides and purr, and purr, and PURR!!! I've a little ironing to do this afternoon and am hopeful of finding a couple of new to me books to read in the charity shop today so I'll light the stove and curl up in my armchair and read this evening, am I alone in finding the TV offerings at present mainly not worth watching? It's just frankly boring. I'm also looking forward to making a menu plan for next week that is 'back to normal' food and doesn't involve anything 'fancy' or fiddly to make bring on the shepherds pie is what I say!!!0 -
To us of a culinary- challenged disposition, shepherds pie IS fiddly!0

Morning all
We are now back to "normal" food Lyn. I made a meat loaf yesterday with fresh mince and sausage meat, and we had it with creamed potato and peas, and gravy of course, and it was lovely. We all enjoyed it, I don't think DGD had eaten it before, and in fact I hadn't made it for ages.
The WM is on and when Himself goes out for a paper I will put the Dyson round downstairs. DGD is still in bed, but the bedrooms are tidy and we have found places for all our presents. I also have a few things to go to the Hospice shop next week.
SM I hope you are soaking up some lovely Florida sun.
AOT I hope you are OK and had a quiet and peaceful Christmas.
Lainey hope your boy continues to be comfortable and that the injections are not too painful.
We are going to have our shingles jab on Thursday, I thought it best because I know how painful it is. I had shingles in 1973 when DD2 was one year old, and I remember my Grandad had it when he was in his 80s and he never actually quite recovered. As I understand it, it affects the nerve endings and for years after he would hold his waiste because he was in pain still.
Have a good weekend
Much love and hugs

Morning lovely folks,
Have done my meal plan for the week and another one who was pleased to get back to "normal" food, have got out of the habit of having at least two veggie and one fish meal per week and have consumed a lot of meat, although the Brisket we had yesterday was yummy and will be having chicken fajitas tonightbut have planned for veggie and fish starting Monday. Doing an inventory of my cupboards today and will put in a stock shop order, also have to pick up dog and horse feed so my poor old bank account won't know what's hit it.
Lyn, me too re the disappointing TV with a couple of exceptions so have been catching up with my reading, one of my pressies from Captain Scarlet was the new Harper Lee book so am currently re-reading To kill a Mockingbird, lovely.
Candlelight, Bill is much better thank you, he takes a while to get going but once warmed up is marching out and enjoying life far more, thank you for asking x
Anyways, there is a fresh coffee and bacon sarnie with my name on, sigh, more meat :rotfl:
Take care all x0 -
Lainey when I have been sitting for a while it takes me some time to get going, tell Bill old age never comes alone.
I like to keep moving with the occasional rest in between
