    Hello all

I am on my way back from dad's having delivered the kentish Christmas presents. Because I get free rail travel, I have struggled down with a suitcase full. Unfortunately the case was rather more broken than I realised so it was a struggle. It is a little lighter going back fortunately. I am meeting DD in London and taking her out for dinner - she might regret it as it was she who broke the case :p

I have made a big effort to not overthink Christmas this year and as a result I am far less stressed and am nearly ready. :T

Hope everyone isn't too blown about. ...
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Hi everyone,

So sorry about your weather - a friend of mine in my online bookgroup had her greenhouse blown over. I hope you've all managed to stay safe and warm.

Candlelight - yes we have very different weather to Australia so my tomatoes won't be ready for a while. I have some fruit forming which I'm very pleased about. The limes are doing well this year too so I'm defintiely keeping my fingers crossed for a good harvest this year - we've never had any grow to maturity before. Thank Flora for the purrs, the cats send some in return. Izzy is doing so well now I've got the Feliway going - he's even asking for food and has put on some weight.

We had a relatively quiet weekend - dinner with some friends on Friday which was an expense I could have done without but nevermind, we don't do it often. We did have a fun evening so I was glad we'd gone. Saturday I baked some mince tarts to take to my cousin's nail party last night. It was fun but I wasn't going to buy any at those prices. I think I was the only person who didn't buy anything, so I guess those companies sure know how to make money. I picked out DH's and my family secret santa names too, so that's my last present I need to buy. I don't have a large amount of food to buy either as well all contribute to the Christmas lunch - although lunch is certainly a misnomer, we eat pretty much all day! I have to say I really like how much more relaxed Christmas is here - no one gets stressed about having a 'perfect' day, we just relax and enjoy each other's company.

OK, I'd better get onto doing some work.

    Much love,

    Hoglet xxx
  • Evening all, had such a lovely weekend with Nell, tickets to the rugby on Friday evening and we won, a nice day on Saturday finding a few things we both needed to get and a Christmas lunch out followed by the most sensitive performance of the Messiah that I've ever been privileged to hear, it was amazing. Today we got the bus to a larger nearby town and have had a nice day window shopping also found the book I've been looking for which has eluded me until now, well done Waterstones! Home tomorrow morning and hoping the trains are running smoothly after the horrendous weather this weekend, should be there 1.30ish if all goes to plan. Hope all of us in the North are OK and have not sustained damage to selves or property, sleep well, Lyn xxx.
  • YAY DD2 has just texted to say they've finally exchanged contracts on the new house, the move will go ahead on the 18th December, what a relief!!!

  • Hi CANDLELIGHT no he's not come down with it yet but I'll make sure he has cold cure to hand if it happens when I'm away next week in Berlin with Nell, so ridiculously excited at the thought of being there again I feel like 4 year old on Christmas Eve!"!!
  • We went to Cologne some years ago, we had a wonderful time but it was so cold and I even carried a gingerbread house all the way home for the grandchildren. It was quite big and so beautiful I couldn't resist it.

Have a great time. I do love their tree decorations, so beautiful but sometimes difficult to transport without breaking (I mean the glass ones) the wooden ones are lovely as well.

    Safe journey

  • Morning everyone.

Yay MLW that's great news! I hope the move goes smoothly for her, and I do hope you ahve a lovely time in Berlin.

Not much to report here - into the last week and a half before the big Christmas break. Soooo looking forward to just relaxing and not doing much. The garden is coming along, the lettuce is doing the best over everything so far as we've had a lot of rain. I've got a pile of books to work my way through over Christmas.

We got DH's bike fixed last week, although he still says there's something wrong with it. He's cycling to work for the first time in years today though so hopefully it all goes well. Will save a lot on fuel if he keeps up with it. On saturday we took a ride up to the village shops to treat ourselves to lunch out - really just an excuse to get us on the bikes - it won't save us any money if we keep using that as an excuse!!

The cats are all well - Alfie retreated into kitten mode at half 4 this morning, trying to knock evrything off my bedside table and chew my phone charger, the little rotter.

Just a short note from me, better get on to some work,

    Love to you all,

    Hoglet xx
