Evening everyone,
Just back in from my opticians appointment, as suspected my prescription has changed so new glasses have been ordered, they will be ready in a week. Have gone for transitional lenses, mainly for driving as hate changing glasses over when the sun pops out, especially this time of year when it's so low.
Also took the opportunity to do food shopping for the weekend, had a couple of vouchers for Mr Sparks so used them to get some bits, will pop out to the farm shop in the morning to get some fruit and veg but am otherwise avoiding the madness of Black Friday.
Picked up a veg quiche for tea, will do that with some wedges and salad, have had mainly meat based meals lately so will go veggie and fishy for next few days.
Well, girls are looking at me expectantly, time for their walk, take care all and have a nice evening x0 -
Hi all
MrsLW- sounds like Zebra had a great time skating. My skating skills are so bad I'd be delighted to sit on something and be pulled round the ice:)
I miss FTM posting too. She always had so much to update and so much happening. I must have a look at her blog again soon.
Lainey - I had thought of popping into Mr Marks tomorrow as there is a dine in on however the thought of leaving the house on Black Friday is frightening. Ironically I have been in the U.S on Black Friday and it seemed much more civilised there. Perhaps because the vast amount of shops mean less people converging on each one. I'll just wait until Saturday I think!
I came across a bundt cake tin in the cupboard which I'd bought on one of my US trips and had forgotten about. I'm thinking a lemon drizzle cake for the weekend would be nice then I can experiment with other varieties.
Posting while dinner was heating. Spaghetti bolognese tonight in an effort to tackle the Tupperware box mountain in the freezer!0 -
SM - ah yes, did see the meal deal in MarksSparks, not sure how long it's on for. All this baloney re Black Friday makes me laugh, my DOH was reading freebie paper in a well known coffee shop as he waited for me today, apparently Asd@ had an advert for tomorrow in there which included as one of its hot deals a tin of Quality Street for £4..... Errr Wa&trose had that deal a few weeks back :rotfl:0

I think it's fair to say some of the "deals" aren't worth having. I do wonder how many people get sucked into the hype though. Have to say I never associated the humble tin of Quality Street with a Black Friday sale!

Good evening all,
Torrential rain here at the moment. Himself has just dropped both granddaughters off at the cinema to see The Hunger Games, I think it is called.
Well despite the fact I said we wouldn't go out today we needed to go out for bread and milk so went to Mr.T on condition if it was packed with people I would walk out again. It seemed quieter than a normal Friday, thank goodness. Picked up what we wanted, went for a few bits at M&S food hall and then went upstairs for a coffee. A pleasant morning was had and stress free as well, can't be bad.
Lyn I hope He Who Knows isn't too badly bruised, as well as being hurt you feel such a fool when you fall over don't you, I know I have in the past.
I don't think we are going anywhere tomorrow. Today I made 2 fat free fruit tea loaves, and we had a couple of slices this evening and it was lovely. Instead of adding spices I put valencia orange extract in and it was delicious.
Himself will be watching the GP on Sunday so not much will be done, I am not sure what DGD will be doing.
Have a good weekend all and stay safe
Much love

Hi CANDLELIGHT I think his pride is hurt worse than his knees! He's just stretched bits of himself a little further than they should but feels better today than he did yesterday, there was no one around when he did it so the poor boy doesn't have to live it down! He'll be OK.
Had nice supper this evening I made a big vat of german red cabbage and we had mashed potato and breaded schnitzel with some homemade apple jelly, 'licious! I might venture into the city tomorrow, I still need stocking presents and would like a visit to the vegan wholefood shop too, I'll see what the weather is doing in the morning. We went to a meeting at the church hall this afternoon as there is a proposal to set up a U3A here in the village, don't quite know what I would make of it. I guess it depends on what groups are set running and then who the people are that join them, another meeting set for the end of January so we'll keep an open mind and see what happens. There was a suggestion today of a Tai Chi group being set up which would interest me lots, I've always thought I'd like to know more about it, we'll see. Nell has been appointed official pianist for the school Jazz Band and they are playing at the Candle lit Carol Service in the Cathedral this evening, the school fair is tomorrow morning and she was out all day yesterday at a D of E Managers Group meeting and then in the evening representing the school at a Community Awards event, I'm always surprised she's still on her feet in the evenings, I wonder how many teachers are in the same position? she doesn't have time for a life as well as a job! Do you know Lyn, Nell will be one of those teachers that her pupils will always remember.
Out of all the teachers we have, there are always one or two who we will always remember for their kindness, expertise, or just the very fact that they could explain something to us that no one else had. She sounds to be a wonderful teacher, she certainly has found her vocation. She is going to have a busy weekend as usual.
Glad He Who Knows is OK
Sleep tight

Didn't know he'd had a fall MrsL, hope he's ok.0

Morning MAR, he's got a sorely knee but it was a sorely knee before he slipped so nothing new there, it's just a bit more sorely than normal!!! He's OK the rest is fine and he's being sensible and not taking Cookie out today, I'll give her an extra long walk at lunchtime to make up for it. He can't be too bad as he's just headed to the allotment to get us some leeks and parsnips and if he was that sore he wouldn't be able to dig would he?0

Hello everyone from a wild and windy East Anglia, hope you are all keeping safe and warm today.
Have finally just sat down after a busy Sunday, baking and cooking this morning, left a beef stew in the oven whilst I went over to the yard. Gave my lovely lad a hot cloth bath with lavender wash so he is all ready for his adventure tomorrow, will need to be up and at them early in the morning so won't have time to do much first thing but knowing him will manage to make himself really dirty between now and then. We did have a giggle earlier about going tomorrow as no doubt there will be loads of the big, swish lorries from the racing yards unloading all these expensive racehorses and then there will be us, with my hairy bear of a horse. He's part shire so not what you would call a delicate little thing :rotfl: anyways he is loved and that's what counts.
Busy day tomorrow as we are also having anew boiler fitted, Captain Scarlet will be supervising but have emptied the boiler cupboard and airing cupboard in preparation. Will be so glad to finally get it done as ours now makes a horrendous noise when it fires up, if you are laying in the bath at the time which is directly above it it actually shakes the water!
CS is just finishing cutting the grass, sounds weird but is been dry since first thing and the wind has made sure of it so has taken the chance to take the top off, it was getting very long in patches so much neater now.
Anyways, better go make him a cup of tea, no doubt he will also want a piece of cake even though only finished stew a hour or so ago.
Take care everyone and have a lovely Sunday evening xx0
