Well done VJs Mum, so much to look forward to, and whole new phase in your life, and hopefully a lot less stress as well.
We had to do the same with our WM last year, as awful as it is, it is cheaper to buy a new one, what a waste.
I think you should have a family celebration.

Loads of congrats VJ's Mum, good for you x0

For the washing machine or the PhDActually DD is coming home for the weekend tomorrow so we could have a bit of a celebration - thanks!
Re the Haka thing - the moves are so dancelike, aren't they? Several years ago I was was wandering round the back streets of Dubai (as you do) and came across a prayer meeting outside. I didn't want to stop and gawp (single white female and all - and besides, it wasn't a tourist attraction), but as i hurried past i could see the flow of movement all as one, even though the Imam's (?) voice also sounded quite aggressive. it was astoundingly beautiful and then, suddenly they finished and dispersed (i probably was only there for 20 seconds) a bit like the end of "consider yourself" from the film Oliver......

Afternoon everyone,
My it's turned cold and looking at the forecast it's going to drop further with wintry showers expected tomorrow, bbrrr. Changed the bed this morning and put the brushed cotton bottom sheet on, picked it up couple of months ago from Aldee's, hopefully will cosy up the nest
Cleared my ironing basket this morning, spent some time with equine pal and then did food shopping this afternoon. Enjoying my favourite hour of the day when jobs are all done and evening meal doesn't need starting for a while, sitting with a cuppa and catching up on the world.
Having a bit of a Friday treat and having a big of a tapas meal tonight so not loads to do, might have to have a cheeky little glass of wine as well.
Have a good evening all xx0 -
Afternoon all,
It is so cold isn't it, I don't seem to be able to warm up.
Well DGD1 has finished painting her bedroom and it looks lovely, she has just gone to Ikea to choose a larger wardrobe, which she insists on putting together herself, she is a very practical young woman. We will have to have it delivered so she will be in a hurry for that.
We went to the Hospice shop this morning and deposited a large amount including a table and a DVD tower. The Manager as usual hugged me, she is a lovely lady, and not well but is determined to work for as long as she can. We then went to Mr T for a few bits, and I bought a lovely piece of beef which is in the slow cooker at the moment, and we will have it for lunch tomorrow.
We have no plans to go anywhere tomorrow except Himself will pop out for a paper.
I am being very lazy tonight and we have stuffed crust pizza from A*da,which Himself and DGD1 will love, I will just have a small piece because I am not very fond of it, and I am too cold for salad.
Lyn I hope you enjoy the concert tonight, but please wrap up warm.
Lainey I hope your boy is nice and warm in his stall. Do you know yet whether the insurance will cover the costs?
Hoglet I hope you are warmer than us. I know you said it was raining, hopefully warm rain.
SM I believe it is bad up in Scotland, take care and keep warm.
AOT I hope you are Ok and not venturing very far at the moment
Elona that bungalow obviously wasn't meant for you, but there will be one out there, and you might just see it when you least expect to.
Have a good weekend all and stay safe
Love to you all

Good evening everyone. Have been reading along even if not posting.
Having a quiet weekend to make up for last weekend when I was in Liverpool for my youngest son's wedding. :jVery posh do in a hotel, all morning suits etc. I have NEVER seen DS look that smart - he is usually just this side of scruffy. But it was a very wet weekend to be travelling, so glad I am not a driver and it was a shame there could be no outside photographs.
Candlelight I have not been across the doors today as far too cold and windy. I hope you are taking care as well.
And thank you Hoglet for thinking of me.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
AOT good to hear from you. It sounds as though it was a lovely wedding and a busy weekend. You must have been very proud of him.
I am fine thank you just the odd niggle, hope you are the same. Stay warm and safe
Much love

Evening, am hoping everyone is staying warm and cosy on this bitter night x
Had a busy morning baking away, the tins are now full with good things, it warmed the house up nicely and made it smell so good.
My but it was cold standing for an hour this afternoon letting Bill have some grass, at one point found myself muttering " I love my horse, I love my horse ", couldn't feel my hands or feet by time got home, nice warm bath did the trick though.
Candlelight -re the insurance claim all paperwork has now gone to NFU, should hear at some point this week, fingers crossed. He should be warm enough in his box, has a nice cosy fleece on as well
Candles are now lit, am cuddled up in sofa with DOH and a box of maltesers, life is good.
Night all and take care xx0 -
Good Morning everyone, wonderful concert last night, Carmina Burana is a very 'BIG' piece and filled the Cathedral to the rafters, we also has some Bernstein and some Brahms so all in all an amazing evening. I did wrap up very warm and stayed comfortable but it was quite chilly walking home afterwards.
We're having a catch up day today and going out for breakfast, how decadent! then coming home to count sweeties into a jar for some fundraising for the Borneo trip at the school Christmas fair and I'm tackling the ironing pile . There's ski jumping on the TV later on so we'll make sure to be back for that and there's a big Christmas fair a bit of a walk away that we might visit later this afternoon should the mood take us. Back home again tomorrow which will also be nice, Lyn xxx.0 -
Morning all, waiting for DD to be ready as we are going out for brunch, then she and I are going to see the last Hunger Games film before she has to go back
. Not really
as she is so happy there and will be back for C word in a few weeks.
OH and I had a lovely day yesterday, a walk through fields and woods, pub lunch, tiny moochette round Ashbourne and a cuppa
Went in a deli in Ashbourne and bought some yummy cheese to have cheese and biscuits and a decent red when we got back. Had promised kids take away pizza which they had. Then watched a film with DD. perfect day. And to think others go shopping and clubbing - how sad
Have a great day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens0
