Aparently, it is forecast to turn much more wintery next weekend! Forecast to stay mild-ish for the coming working week, after that a sudden drop in temperatures.
Very strong winds and allot of rain up here over the last few days havig said that it is very very mild today 15 degrees in factgreat for keeping the heating off.
Loads and loads of people with coughs, colds and flu like symptoms though!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

Completely sodden up here and yes I saw that too - deep cold for next weekend and snow.
MrsL I have a (very wee) bag of pressies in the spare room and I'm putting off looking in it. Because then I'll see that I haven't got hardly any of the stuff I need, and have to move my !!! and do something about it!0 -
I was really surprised to not see any of our roof tiles on the lawn this morning the way the wind was bashing them around during the night, thankfully the big beech trees had lost most of their leaves so they seem to be intact.
Re Christmas presents am not doing too badly, have a couple more things to order on line then it's just a few stocking fillers for DOH and Mum who is spending Xmas day with us.
Very, very proud Auntie today as went to the grand opening of eldest nieces salon, she has worked so hard over the last few years to build up her beauty and hair business, now she's taken the next step of new premises. She's is a very focused and determined young lady, no doubt she will do well.
The pork joint is now in oven smelling delic, for one or another have not eaten much today so am very much looking forward to it.
Take care everyone x0 -
Morning everyone,
Sorry to hear about all your weather - stay safe everyone.
Candlelight - poor Flora, that did make me smile. I hope she recovers her dignity soon! Our cats are well thanks - we finally turned on the Feliway plugin on Saturday and we have had no 4am riots since. Hard to tell exactly if it's working but my gut feeling is that they are a bit calmer. I'll keep an eye on Alfie and Izzy and if Alfie stops tormenting him then I'll say it's working. It is expensive here (about 3 times the price than in the UK) but it will be worth it to calm Alfie down. HE was neutered as soon as he was old enough, but you wouldn't think so sometimes.
We had a nice weekend - in the garden with a book for much of Saturday, and then the weather changed and we've had rain since. Went to a jewellery party at a friend's place yesterday, didn't buy anything as it was costume jewellery which isn't really my thing, and we haven't done our family secret santa draw yet so I don't know who I'm buying for at Christmas!
Must get on with some presents for UK family tho - time is ticking on!
Love to you all,
Hoglet xxx0 -
Well the winds are still blowing but no damage which is good. We do have two flooded roads though so are restricted to accessing our house by the one remaining road. It's a bit frustrating as it adds at least 15 minutes to each journey however I'm very focussed these days on making single worthwhile journeys rather than lots of little trips.
weve had to attach protector things round our fruit trees as we discovered our semi tame hare was stripping the bark. It's absolutely not on but I want to stop him doing it rather than remove the problem if that means sense. Nature really can be a trial sometimes!
I'm off to see Miracle on 34th Street at the theatre this week. It's one of my favourite films so really looking forward to it and having a nice meal with a friend beforehand. That's the second meal out in two weeks, I feel like a social butterfly:o
Off to tackle some sock darning now- not my favourite job but makes them last a bit longer!0 -
Morning all, much calmer here today and the overnight rain has passed through so although it's wet underfoot it's dry in the air. DD1 had a very positive D of E with her team yesterday, the youngsters have already formed a cohesive and competent little group and she thoroughly enjoyed being out with them, they'd even thought to bring flasks of hot drinks and snacks to share with the rest of the group, magic!
Following on from the health advice that said cured meats were likely to give you cancer thus eliminating PIGS IN BLANKETS, yesterday in the Telegraph was a little article that now says that dark TOAST, CRISPY ROAST POTATOES and CRISPY CHIPS will also give you cancer!!! the advice was to have your food as pale in colour as possible and to eat roasties when they were just beginning to be golden coloured also not to shake them up to roughen the surface if you've parboiled them as that extra crispiness will also give you cancer! Oh my word, I'm now waiting for the information that turkey, cranberry sauce and sprouts will kill you in an instant and the declaration that Christmas is banned forever to pop up in print sometime this week!!! There is a GRINCH in the works!!!
I'm popping into town on the bus this morning for a visit to A*di for some everyday bits and a hunt for stocking fillers which I am short of for everyone. We've cut back lots on what we do give each other for presents but they still like a stocking, we try to limit it to a maximum of £25 but things are so expensive of late and I don't want it to just be sweeties, I'll see what is there.
Have a good day all, Lyn xxx.0 -
I suppose eliminating all supposed carcinogenics from your shopping list would make great savings on the household budget - but life would suddenly become that little bit less worth living!
As in everything in this world, moderation is the key.One life - your life - live it!0 -
I think experts need to be turned upside down and shaken well, every so often to clear their brains0

There is always something that we shouldn't eat or drink, it tends to change on a regular basis and most things get rotated. Another volunteer here for shaking duty
Busy day today, had another awful night sleep having woke up just before 1am and didn't get back to sleep until gone 4. No idea why just can't seem to switch my mind off, just lay there churning things over and over, daft really.
So decided that really need to make sure that not only get tired physically but mentally as well. This morning went over the yard to spend hour or so with my boy, home to rake and tidy leaves up, then cleaned downstairs windows ( don't do ladders ). This afternoon did some research work, resisted the urge to have a nap and am just finishing off by trying my hand at Uni Challenge and Only Connect.
Wish me luck x0
