Candlelight - I too hate the wind now, we live next to a field and often the gable-end of the house is first thing a strong wind hits, lost count how many times lay awake listening and praying our roof stays on!
Mar and SM, hope all is ok for you x

Just waiting for my pots to finish boiling, making a fish pie tonight, comfort food. Today was lovely though as spent good few hours at the yard, grazing my boy in hand, the sun was shining on us both and it felt good. Didnt sleep very well at all last night so must admit had sneaky little nap on the sofa under throw this afternoon and woke up feeling more refreshed.

Pots are calling, then the girls will need their evening walk, take care all xx
  • Morning everyone,

Sorry to hear about all the bad weather - I feel terrible saying we have gin clear skies this morning, although a bit fresh to start off with. I was glad I hadn't changed to the summer duvet. Should be a beautiful day tho, and fingers crossed for the weekend.

We were going to be at my cousin's celebrating her birthday but she's been sick all week so not sure that will go ahead. If it doesn't, DH and I will have a v rare trip to the cinema together to see James Bond. On Sunday my friend is ahving a jewellery party - I won't be buying anything but going for a bit of a girlie get together. Must think of some interesting nibbles to take....hopefully from what I already have in the house as I am cutting out extraenous supermarket visits. I'm on another mortgage blitz at the mo - we managed to save 50% of DH's weekly salary last week, when usually it would be around the 10-15% mark, so feeling virtuous. Almost ruined when he announced his satnav was broken and needed replacing (it's 8 years old so has served us well) but he seems to think it's fixed now... keeping my fingers crossed!

DH made a lovely apple pie last night from some seriously elderly apples, so I'm looking forward to another slice of that tonight. He made the pastry himself too, with only a couple of hints from me, and it was lovely and crisp.

rght, really must dash, love to you all,

    Hoglet xxx

  • Evening all, had a wonderful day with Zebra, Oh heavens how I LOVE that child! He's an imp of mischief but bright as a button, mimicking every word and understanding most of them. We had such fun and now we're both shattered. Horrible drive home in the rain and lots of traffic but not too windy yet.

Buster the duster goes in the hat too SM thanks very much!

MAR you look after yourselves and that goes for all you other northern dwellers too, I hope that 'Abigail' isn't as dire as the forecast predicts but if you do have the high winds etc. please don't put yourselves at risk for any reason.

Off to get ready for bed and not long before I go up, Night all, Lyn xxx.

I liked the house but the downstairs was "traditional" with small rooms while upstairs was much more modern with big bedrooms.

I liked it but would probably want to modernise the kitchen and bathroom and perhaps knock the kitchen and dining room into one as the kitchen is very small.

If I can get my daughters to have a look then would consider making an offer.

    Hugs to all

  • Goodness Elona you were up late.

I suppose it depends whether you want a project and all that entails or would prefer somewhere that didn't need much doing to it. Did you get a feeling for it, I am a great believer in feelings?

Lyn I am so glad you had a lovely time with Zebra, but there again you always do. There really is nothing like the love for a grandchild is there?

    Stay safe everyone

Lyn - so lovely to hear about your Zebra and the fab time you've had, hope he enjoyed his giant satsuma :)
Elona. - glad the house viewing went well, the kitchen etc can be changed but the feeling isn't so easy to find so fingers crossed for you.

Clear, bright day here at the moment but looks like rain is on its way, just having first cuppa of the day, it's always the best. Slept much better last night although it was mild and had to throw off the covers at times.

Have a good day everyone xx

I think the idea of house hunting was preying on my mind as I just could not get to sleep for ages.

Subconciously I probably did like it as I kept thinking what I would like to do to the downstairs. The top bit and the ground floor feel like two different houses.

I need to make a quick omelette then go out to meet DD to go shopping this afternoon. So far I have lost a stone and want to keep going with it.

    Hugs to all

  • Happy Sunday everyone,

Well we had a dreadful night. The winds outside were awful, and next door have an enormous cherry tree and the wind was whistling through the branches. Not a leaf to be seen on the tree this morning. I have just had a half an hour sleep on the sofa and feel better for it.

I managed to do a load of washing this morning and it is all put away now. DGD1 is out for the day, not sure whether she will be in for evening meal or not, but we are having chicken, creamed potato, carrots, green beans and yorkies. Himself is asleep at the moment having his siesta, but I have to wake him in time for the Brazilian GP

SM and Mar I hope you are both safe. I am sure the winds we have had here are nothing compared to yours, but I don't like them.

AOT I hope you are OK, give us all a wave if you can.

Now this is where I become boring by saying I have bought most, but not all, Christmas presents. Many are wrapped and the little bedroom looks like Santa's Grotto. I am like this most years, but 5 years ago it stood me in good stead, when I had the op for my breast cancer at the beginning of December . I know no one would have minded not having a present but I was glad I was organised.

We don't have anything in particular planned this week, will just see how the weather is, but I would like to see my sister and BIL at some time. My younger sister comes home from Florida on Wednesday so eventually will be able to catch up with her and BIL. I usually give them about a week so they can catch up on mail and everything. They have been away nearly 3 months this time

Hoglet I hope you and the cats are well. DGD1 dressed Flora in a santa outfit (the indignity of it):) and took photographs. She wants to send these on Christmas cards to her special friends and to DGD2. Flora is now havng her siesta as well.

    Stay safe and well everyone

    Much love

  • We had a really howling windy night too last night and all the leaves are gone from the silver birches that are both in our front garden and run the length of our neighbours boundary, they were bright gold yesterday and today bare branches. The only tree with leaves still on is our big old apple tree and he's only just yellowing!

Ruthie confirmed yesterday that they will be coming up to us for a couple of days this Christmas holiday which will be lovely and has ordered a Mummy Roast dinner please, predictable or what? I've just been for a nice walk with Cookie, Sue and Charlie and taken her back home. He Who Knows is making tea, how civilised, then settling down to watch his Grand Prix, which bores me to tears so I'll stay here and play.

I took stock of presents yesterday and am pleased to have found I have most things, just need to pick up small things for everyones stockings and then get them wrapped. I hate wrapping presents, but last year got them done well in advance and it saved last minute rushing round so I'll get wrapping in the week. You are so organised Candlelight, well done you.

Hope everyone is OK and stays that way with this stormy period of weather we have and will continue to have next week, Nell is out on D of E today and they're hill walking, I hope she's not as muddy as I think she'll be when she gets home at 5 tonight, we'll see.

    Lyn xxx.
