    Debt-free and Proud!
    Morning everyone,

lovely to catch up on all your news!

Congratualtions VJsmum, that is very exciting, I'm sure you won't be jinking it at all.

Candlelight - yes I feel the same way about cats, I'd love to talk to them all. They certainly enrich our lives. My garden is coming on well for the year - some buds on the passionfruit and a few little fruits forming on the lime tree. I'm determind to get fruit from it this year! I even have grapes forming on my vine, which I netted this weekend. (Got the net free with garden centre points :-) ) I've got 2 tumbling toms plants in the hanging basket, 3 big tom plants (one is a cherry), 3 chilli plants, 12 lettuces heads which I got free this weekend at an A&P show, cut and come again lettuce seeds are coming up, carrot seeds are just poking up..... nothing from the lemongrass, corn or mangetout yet.......

The cats weren't too happy about the fireworks but they didn't seem as terrified as last year so that was good. Poor Izzy sleeps under the duvet every night as Alfie tends to attack him, so it wasn't much different for him. He curls into a tight ball and snuggles in right against me, it's impossibly sweet.

It definitely does seem quiter here - I don't post everyday but I do check the thread frequently and often see that there haven't been posts for some days. I do love chatting with you all so I hope it continues.

    Much love,

    Hoglet xx
  • Morning campers it's a really nice day here today with milky blue sky and a nice little breeze blowing and it's forecast to stay DRY all day so I've got the bedding in the machine and will peg it outside to dry, hoorah!!! He Who Knows and myself will be visiting a vintage furniture shop this morning as I'd like to replace our dining room table and chairs. We currently have ercol but it's the only thing we still have in light wood and the table is too big for the two of us and ends up as a dumping ground for all his ongoing projects. What I would like is a dark smaller table that extends in some way for when the family are here, it will give us more room in the lounge as we'll be able to position it in the corner by the back window where I can watch the birds in the garden and it will hopefully not be big enough for 'project' spread!

Bless his little cotton socks, having changed the mattresses yesterday after quite a long period of a small voice saying it's too soft whadda you know? today the small voice is saying that he'd like his memory foam topper back on please as the new mattress is too firm, MEN!!!

Hope all is well in your worlds and that you all have a lovely day today, Lyn xxx.

I have just put two loads of bedding into the machine as it looks like a nice windy day. Having a coffee and a browse on here while catching my breath after a busy family day yesterday.

Feeling a little stunned as it looks as if I have sold the house (well - accepted an offer that will give me time to move out properly). Originally they wanted to move in before Christmas but what with probate and my not having seen somewhere I liked I told them it was not feasible and rather than mess them around I would rather reject the offer completely. I was being perfectly straight and not bluffing or game playing but they came back with a slightly increased offer and said there would be no pressure put on me as regards time :j

DDs have seen a chalet bungalow that looks as if it could tick all the boxes and I plan to book a viewing. The downstairs has everything I would need so I would not have to use the stairs at all unless I wanted to and there are bedrooms upstairs so the family could stay over for get togethers etc. There is even a conservatory, multi fuel stove, gas hob, storage space in an internal garage. It is not much of a walk to a bus stop or a few shops yet is in a quiet cul de sac with easily maintained garden.

There are a couple of fish ponds which could be a hazard for dds cat or future grandkids but we could work something out.

I found some apples on the tree Dh planted and some lovely pink rosebuds yesterdays which felt as if he was still with us.

    Hugs to all

  • Well done ELONA and I wish you a speedy and hassle free house move, DD2 has at long last got the contract for the house they've been buying since early September but now the beggars are trying to charge them for the white goods and the fitted woodburner despite them being listed in the estate agents brochure! we'll see!!!

Talking of windy days.....we went to the local garden centre and when we got back home a huge gust of wind had not just blown my whirligig line down, but also blown and lifted out the massive block of concrete it was set into in the lawn! Most things were dryish and are now up in the utility room , goodness me it must have been a strong gust!

That sounds scary!!!!! Thank heavens you were not outside when it got uprooted.

I can't hang laundry outside as it has started to rain! The utility room will have to do.

I have had a late lunch and phoned to book a viewing on Thursday afternoon. A friend who used to be in the EA business is coming with me to look for any potential problems that I would not realize.

  • Good afternoon all,

A dark and dreary day here and I have the lights on already.

Elona great news about the sale of your house, but a bit scarey I imagine, moving into a new home. Your DH would be so proud of you, thinking ahead and perhaps realising a bungalow would be better for you in time. As long as you can move in your own time it should be good. I suppose, in effect, you are downsizing as well, so will have to pass on some of your furniture. Good luck with the viewing on Thursday.

I was very good yesterday and sorted all my kitchen cupboards and the pantry, and I was really tired at the end of the day, but I am pleased with what I achieved. The baking cupboard was in such a mess, and as DGD1 uses it a lot I thought I had better sort it out. I have masses of stuff for the Hospice shop, we took it this morning, but couldn't find a parking spot near enough so will try tomorrow. The trouble with crocks they are so heavy too heavy to carry from the car park nearby.

I doubled my points at Mr. T today and bought DGD1 a new tray and roller because she wants to decorate her room, and candles for DD1 as a stocking filler. New Look sent DGD1 a 25% code , and as I had bookmarked a handbag for DGD2 and a sweater for DGS we are going to order these tonight when she comes home from work .

I am feeling a bit under the weather today, but I think it is because I just kept going yesterday because I was on a roll, but paying for it today. Also I never have a uninterrupted nights sleep anymore because Himself seems to dream all night, I am sure it must have something to do with the medication he takes. I do feel sorry for him, but I am not good if I don't have 8 hours.

Lyn good news about Ruthie's new home, I will keep my fingers crossed for them. I bet that Zebra boy is coming on in leaps and bounds isn't he. It doesn't seem 5 minutes since he was born. Is he having a stocking at Christmas and have you already started collecting for it?

Hoglet the garden sounds good. Our's looks very dark and brown now, but it is still very mild, I wonder will we pay for this later. I am a great believer in having a cold snap to rid ourselves of any bugs which might linger in the mild weather.

I think that is all my news for now.

    Take care of yourselves

    Much love

  • Hi CANDLELIGHT it's been really grey and dreary here today too. I went into town today on the bus, Oh my goodness there were so many people around and shopping even though it's only Tuesday, silly levels of queueing some 15 deep so in a couple of shops I put back the couple of things I'd got in my basket and left. There seemed to be only one person on the till in most shops and only a few in the bigger ones, people were buying Christmas food and crackers and toys which I suppose is only spreading the load and being sensible but so many of them!!!

Had a nice walk with Cookie this afternoon but it's so mild outside I never seem to get the coat right and always end up really hot (she walks much faster than dear Docky did) and peel off hat and open up coats even if it's raining. I long for a cold snap, a few frosty mornings and a need for the log burner which is all laid and ready to go but not needed.

Zebra IS having a stocking and I'm getting the odd little thing when I see it, his presents this year will be mostly books and colouring things as his main present will be his Toddler Bed later on when they've moved and when he's ready for it. He also has 2 pairs of big boys pyjamas, a die cast London Taxi Cab and a die cast London Red Bus and I might have bought him a Dachshund soft toy which is wearing Pushkins kitten collar and lead and I'm going to find him a basket and make him a stuffed felt bone, that should do it yes?

I must admit to feeling just a tad under the weather too, I'm sneezing a lot, feel really itchy, feel a bit achey and Nell says it's probably a virus, which makes sense. Hope we all feel better soon.

Shepherds Pie with steamed veg for tea and an apple crumble (the wartime one) for pud if we want it all ready to go in the kitchen so not much else to do and hopefully an early night tonight, look after yourselves, Lyn xxx.

Hello folks, room for another one....

Had a quiet day today, bit of shopping this morning for fresh fruit and veg, was going to tag that on with filling my car up with petrol but the town was completely rammed, there was roadworks by the main traffic lights so temp ones had been set up, I saw the huge queue and beat a hasty retreat! Managed to pick up what we will need in the village but annoyed as could have gone on my bike to do that.
It's been clear at times here but made mistake of washing the towels we use for the dogs and putting them out, next thing I knew it was tipping it down, typical. Still they sort of dried again in the wind and are now finishing off in the boiler cupboard.
Well, the sausage casserole is in the oven and the girls now want their evening promenade, have a good evening all x
  • Morning everyone!

Candlelight - it does feel good to have a sort out doesn't it. I need to do another one, but as I tidied up the garage at the weekend and it looks neat now, I really can't face going through it all again just yet.

MLW - you've reminded me just how much I don't miss the Christmas queues in the UK! We don't ave anything like the craziness that goes on there and it's quite a joy! The Dachshund sounds perfect.

    Hi LaineyT *waving* welcome.

Well it was a beautiful day here yesterday and today we have a grey and showery morning but we are told it will improve. MUST be time to switch to the summer duvet this weekend. Poor Izzy is finding it too hot to lie under for long so he lies by my feet - and then at 4am I can guarantee Alfie will attack him every morning....

    Love to you all,

    Hoglet xxx
