Just got back from the girls evening walk, my that wind has now got a bite to it, regretted not having worn my gloves, suspect it's still relatively mild given the time of year so when the cold weather does finally come it will be a bit of a shock.

Well today was a bit of a roller coaster emotion wise, I had called out someone from the equine hospital for a second opinion on my boy as not happy with what my vet had said about riding him through the pain. He clearly wasn't comfortable and had let me know with some bucks etc which really isn't like him at all.
She really wasn't happy and has put him on immediate box rest and painkillers, hard to diagnose the exact problem so has recommended a bone scan. Have been on to my insurance company to see if they will cover the cost but tbh will go ahead with it no matter what as don't feel can make a real decision on his future without concrete information. She doubts if he will ever come back into work given its been going on for some time so best case scenario is that we can do something so he can live a pain free life as a companion horse, worst case....well you can imagine.
I would never, ever let one of my animals suffer no matter what cost to me, only time will tell.

Needless to say am in need of large glass of something cold tonight, my DOH is currently cooking under instruction, will aim to get early night as am v tired.
Sorry this isn't a cheerier post folks, feeling a bit punch drunk at the moment what with the last few months of job stress etc and now this but gues we are only given what we can cope with.
    Xx
  • Oh dear Lainey I am sorry to hear that.

This is what we are here for, rant away. I hope it isn't as bad as you think, but you will know what to do. We love our animals so much but we wouldn't let them suffer. I hope your boy can be pain free even if he can't work.

    Sending you a hug

  • Fleeting one today as we're off to play with that Zebra, I've got him a book, some cheesy biscuits and the biggest satsuma I've ever seen so that should make him happy and be OK with his Mumsie!

LAINEY I hope the news for your equine pal is better than you fear and as good as you hope, will be with you in spirit and sending you positive vibes. We're always here for you, good or bad and you can always say it to us, we've all been there and know just how you feel over pets, take care all, Lyn xxx.

Thank you folks for your best wishes, very much apprecIted x

As you can imagine had a restless night and the alarm found me good for nothing but darling Captain Scarlet let me sleep in and took the girls out first thing by himself.
Just had plate of scrambled egg as couldn't face tea last night and will be heading out to the yard soon. One thing the Vet did say that although my boy is on box rest he can be grazed in hand for a short while so will stand in the sunshine this morning and do just that, time with him is glorious, it doesn't matter what we do.

Have a good day all xx
  • Afternoon all. I think I should slink in quietly as I've been missing for weeks::o

It's just been ridiculously busy at work but frustratingly lots of firefighting problems and not a lot of progress. It will pass though.

I also had two lots of guests over recent weeks. One lot for a dinner party and then a bigger group for drinks and nibbles. It became more drinks and home baking though so again kept me busy and I now have the unenviable task of dealing with a huge red wine stain on a cream carpet. Unfortunately I was in the kitchen when the spill happened and my mother helpfully sprayed vanish carpet foam on it which really didn't do the trick. I've ordered a product called wine away online and I'm hoping it does the trick. It's a huge stain in the midst of a 28foot long room so couldn't be more obvious. :(

Mrs LW - My cousin once owned a daschund. He was called Buster the carpet duster as his legs were so short she claimed he swept her deep pile rugs as he walked. He was adorable though although very territorial, he had an armchair which he would not share at all. I've seen guests sitting on the floor while Buster looked down from the chair!

I'm ignoring busy shops and the C word. I refuse to play this year. My family have suggested not exchanging gifts which I'm relieved about because I won't have to spend time looking for things and wondering if they really need them. It does feel a bit odd to only have gifts for hubby and one aunt to buy though.

It's blowing a hoolie as we say up here. I suspect we may be getting the edge of storm Abigail or whatever she is called. I'm out this evening for dinner with a friend but I don't think I will be spending long on styling my hair or donning my party shoes. It will be sensible clothing all round tonight.
    .

VJs mum - congratulations on the PhD.

Lucielle, Elona and Lainey - hello and welcome. Nice to have company.

Candlelight - hope you are well and warm in this horrible blustery weather.

AOT - hello too if you are dropping in.

So, it's back to work now however I promise to be a bit more regular on here. I've reverted back to the old format as I can't work with the new one, too bright and in my face

Blowing like hell up here too minnie- the western isles are to get 80-90mph tonight and the shipping forecast says hurricane force 12.
I'm hoping my lights stay on here.
  • Mar it must be dreadful. I hate the wind because I am frightened of the damage it causes.

I hope you and SM stay safe tonight
