Laura, yes it is an act of love, but so hard. I am so sorry you have lost Sammy-Cat and I send hugs to you. Our animals usually leave us to make the decision, and like Lyn and obviously you as well, when our beautiful golden retriever had to rest we just knew the decision had to be made.
We all loved him so much but it was something we had to do for him.

Oh LAURA my heart goes out to you, thank you so much for caring about Docky and about us, it IS the hardest decision to decide when it is fair to keep our loved companions with us and when that decision becomes doubted it's harder still to make the decision to let them go. We anguished, we wanted so very much for the time to not be yet but you know as we do in your own heart love that it was the right time to let go for Sammys sake, it hurts, of course it does, but it's the kindest way to pay the price for all the love and companionship they have given to us over the time we've had them isn't it? Bless you I hope the hurt fades and that only lovely memories remain, thinking of you too, Lyn xxx.0

Morning all from a hot and humid hong kong.
Haven't been here for a couple of weeks - so busy busy busy.
Mrs LW - so sorry about Docky.
Could someone point me at FTM's blog? I love a good blog - more procrastination time.
So I am here once again, jetlagged but focussed (ish - I am posting here after all) I really want to use this time away to get ahead of myself so that I can enjoy the summer when i get back. I have left OH decorating V's new bedroom (children swapped rooms since DD is now at Uni and her large room was standing empty). The deal was, though, that she had hers bright red  I have seen it via skype and it is rather loud
I am going to paint her furniture blue with Marvel knobs on the drawers. The room is "marvel" themed so red, white and blue with captain america, spiderman et al all around. Hard to believe she is nearly 19 and not a 10 year old boy :rotfl:
Since i discovered furniture painting, nothing is safe. I have plans for most of our (largely orange pine) furniture to get "upcycled) - but it is going to take a while.
ScottishMinnie - so sad for your hassles. i hope it gets resolved speedily.
See you all anonI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
HiVJs Mum, FTMs blog is frugalinlincolnshire.blogspot.co.uk.
My two DDs used to swap bedrooms whilst I was at work, but we never had red walls, close but not quite.
Are you going to Glastonbury this year with DD?

Thank you.
Yes i am going to Glastonbury, I go with DS who has his penultimate GCSE today. i am so proud of him and how he has applied himself to revision. He isn't the most academic child and it's a case of passing, not getting A's but he really deserves some decent results.
IT is a bit full on for me as I am in HK for a week, Singapore for a further week, back for 3 days till Glasto, then another 4 days before holiday.
One day i will slow downI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Hello all,
Well it was nice here this morning, very sunny, but quite overcast this afternoon.
We went into town this morning and met DD for coffee, she had a breakfast as well. She went to the hairdressers first and then joined us in Debenhams. We stopped off at our greengrocers on the way home for bananas, strawberries, mushrooms and beautiful English tomatoes. I had to throw several bananas away yesterday they were horrible inside.
VJs Mum, my DGD2 is doing GCSEs at the moment and DGS A levels. He wants to go to university but she can't wait to leave, she has an apprenticeship lined up, dependent of course on her results. They are all different of course, and that is as it should be.
We haven't done anything in the garden today, just having a rest this afternoon. DD seems to be walking better, still with one crutch, but certainly not as laboured.
Not much happening at Candlelight Towers this week.
Look after yourselves

He Who Knows and myself have just been for an amazing walk through the lanes, past the nature reserve and then back to the village along the shore. The wildflowers are amazing and abundant, so pretty, there are wild roses, honeysuckle and elderflowers among all the hedgerows so it was a perfumed walk, we actually saw and heard two skylarks, I haven't seen larks here for years, we sat beside the pond on the nature reserve and there were a pair of swans with a brood of cygnets, swifts and house martins hawking over the pond for insects and half a dozen black and white shelducks dabbling, bottoms in the air, in the water and we were in a sheltered littls spot in among the gorse bushes and there were some really noisy finches chittering in the back of us. As we walked back up to the village a lovely old fishing boat came up the river with those rust red sails that always remind me of the sailing barges I used to see up and down the Medway as a child, I think she's moored up in the boats on the river but couldn't pick her out without the sails up. Was a lovely time. He Who Knows is being so kind and as he's hurting as much as I am I think he's noble, I luvs him Oh YES I DO!!!0

That sounds wonderful Lyn, what a lovely afternoon and he loves you as much as you love him. You have been married long enough to know when each other is hurting and you just want to make it better for them.
Enjoy your supper
Much love

Morning everyone,
May car is in for a Warrant (NZ version of MoT) this morning so keeping my fingers fimrly crossed. She soldiers on and at 21years old she's quite a venerable lady, continuing to serve me well, so I could really do with her passing! I brought DH's work vehicle with me today as he's taing mine to the garage, and driving it always makes me fancy a newer car, but not enough to want to get into debt or give up something else to enable me to buy one.
Not much going on here at the moment - we're deep into winter now, the last of the veges have been eaten from the garden and the place needs a jolly good tidy up.
I hope everyone is well,

I've just been up to the polytunnel and stripped the pea pods that are getting a bit hoary, all podded now and in the freezer. I begin to understand why frozen peas are the price they are though two full and piled up colanderfuls of pods have yielded less than 500g of peas. I shall keep them for going into soups through the autumn/winter and not use them as a veg partly because they're looking a bit mealy like marrowfats but mainly because they're special ones and need to be appreciated!!! I hope by doing this big pick I might nudge the plants into a second flowering and more peas, we'll see. The climbing french beans are in flower in there now and we'll soon be picking those by the bucketful, good job we like them!!!0
