    Hi everyone,

Hope you are all well and enjoying the Bank Holiday. We have the predicted showers here today so no gardening. DD came to see us this morning, which was nice, she has received her letter from DWP, and as predicted, refused the Independent Living Allowance, but she has to register for Job Seeker's Allowance and they will pay her National Insurance, but nothing else because she has savings.

Himself worked really hard in the garden yesterday, and I am so proud of him. When he had his heart attack, which is about 6 years ago, he was gardening. and ever since he has had this psycological barrier where he can't be out in the garden for long. Anyway the fence was in desperate need of repair, and he spent 5 hours out there and I kept him supplied with coffee. I think he was really chuffed with himself as well and feels more confident. This has been a long road because he lost all of his confidence after he had the stents put in, and because he had a "silent" heart attack he found it difficult to understand because he had no pain. I am hoping he has turned a corner, he still has some heart failure but the tablets are supposed to help that.

I think the weather is supposed to be better tomorrow so hopefully we will be back outside. Planning on seeing Sister on Tuesday, brother in law has given in his notice at work because the stroke he suffered 3 months ago has caused some damage and he says he just doesn't feel "right". I think my sis will be happier knowing where he is and that he won't be suffering stress as he did at work.

We have just had a roast beef dinner with all the trimmings which was delicious and Himself and Flora are both having their siestas (as bit like a retiement home):)

I think that is all my news

    Much love

Well done that man candlelight :) A scary situation for him to deal with (and you :( ) especially if there were non of the symptoms to give a warning. It's no wonder there's been a garden association because he has had nothing else to attach the scary feelings to.

It's been a wee while since we've had a roast dinner but looking forward to cooking my ham in a bit. I think we'll have roast potatoes and a fried egg with some of it. Plenty of sandwiches in the coming days. Speaking of which I also have bread to make. It's not something I have been doing lately and i'll be honest that the only reason I'm doing it today as I've ran out of the shop bought stuff... but the jam and lemon curd will be out for supper tonight :D

Evening all. I've not been around for a few weeks so still catching up on all the news and hoping to have a peek at FTM's blog late.

I've been away with work a couple of time since I last posted and seem to spent most of the last month dealing with solicitors. It's a long story however we have discovered that when we bought the ground we later built our home on the transfers etc have not been carried out correctly. We're now in the midst of trying to get it sorted but basically as it currently stands a third party could lay claim to the ground our house sits on. Our original solicitor has since died and his firm are being so obstructive with regards to why he has taken the action he did. They are claiming he acted on our instructions, which he certainly did not, however after 20 years we hAve no evidence of this and to make a case of negligence we would need proof. We've had to hire an expert to try to unravel the mess and persuade the third party to renounce any future claim. The expert is hoping that if things are straightforward we may be able to contain the cost to around £10,000 although if the third party decides to be awkward the cost could be significantly more. I'm worried sick about things as there is no real incentive for the third party to be reasonable as they stand to gain nothing. I can't even begin to think about future plans not knowing how this may end up. My mother was asking about our holiday in September and I couldn't even remember which airport our flights are booked to!

In the midst of this hubby and I had a fairly major disagreement, probably the first time in 25 years that we have been so angry with each other. I'd been really struggling with the garden when im away so much with work (and saying no isn't an option in today's job market) especially the grass as it takes somewhere between two and two and a half hours to cut. I came back from a trip last week and he'd taken delivery of a ride on lawn tractor. I know he did it with the best of intentions however with an open ended legal bill I couldn't believe he had spent such an amount of money and I reacted very badly. He was understandably hurt and it was petty horrible for a few days. We've both calmed down a bit now but I don't think things will be back to normal until this whole mess is over.

It's a holiday tomorrow so I think a nice long run in the morning should get me motivated to do some of the chores which have been mounting up. I really do need to shampoo two carpets although it has been so cold here I didn't want to leave lots of windows open. I also need to wash my windows as the feathered inhabitants have left their calling cards on a few. They tend to do that when the bird feeder hasn't been filled for a day or two. I think it's intimidation tactics:)
I also need to transplant some things from the greenhouse to outside, it's beginning to feel like the rainforest in there with all the greenery. I see my strawberry plant has some flowers so it's high time it was outside.

Anyway, enough self pity from me:o hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend.

    Morning everyone,

Candlelight - good for Himself, I hope he continues to overcome the associations with gardening :-)

A very quiet weekend here owing to truly disgusting weather. DH had 2 games to referee on saturday and came home dripping wet. After that it was a nice hot dinner, and some beers which I am assured are 'warming' hmmmmm.

Yesterday we did have ot brave the rain a bit to buy a new cat door to replace the one that Izzy dismantled. The shop assistant asked us if it was for a new installation and when we told him what Izzy had done he couldn't believe it. I finnished my winter shopping at a homestore - I got 2 fleecy blankets (one to finish off our blankets over the windows policy in the bedroom - which is so effective, and one as a gift) a kiddies wash mitt, a pair of fluffy winter slipper socks and a lint roller (cats!) for the equivalent of 11 pounds, so I was very pleased with that.

Other than that we've not been up to much, I've had a bit fo business work to do and it's kept me occupied :-)

    Love to you all,

    Hoglet x

Sorry SM, we crosse3d posted and I didn't want to you think I was ignoring you. I'm sorry to hear that about your land - I know how stressful that will be and I do hope you are able to get it sorted for as little financial outlay as possible.

Sorry to hear about you and hubby to - stress being out the worst in us I think, but I certianly understand your frustration - I would have reacted the same :-/

SM I am so sorry you seem to have a great deal going on in your life at the moment, which I am sure you can do without.

I hope the land ownership is sorted soon, what a dreadful worry that must be, for goodness sake your home is on it.

Have a big hug from me

Hoglet our weather hasn't been up to much either this Bank Holiday. We were promised some sunshine but here in the Midlands it hasn't materialised, although Himself did some more gardening today, it's like having him back after all this time, I do hope it lasts. I am doing everything I can to boost his confidence.

  • SM just summer lightning honey, you're both on edge over the biggest problem, it's daunting when things like that come out of the blue and he'd presumably ordered the lawnmower before that came to light? I so hope that you can get it sorted out asap, it's such a shock when something as big and potentially life altering as this happens it's such a sickening feeling being in limbo, I really feel for you both. Stay strong for each other you need to forget all other strife and work together to sort this out, thinking of you both, Lyn xxx.

Just popping in to day thank you ladies for your kind words. Im sure there will be a way to sort it out, however lengthy or expensive, we just need to let the experts work that out for us. I know hubby meant well it's just his timing that was lousy!

Onwards and upwards as they say (no other choice really:o)

FTM - the new arrivals are adorable. Do you lend them out? I'll be first on the list to take them for a while:)
