    morning all,

I've enjoyed catching up on your news

MLW that spiraliser sounds fun! I hope you get lots of use out of it.

Candlelight - oh that's a shame that Wasps lost, glad to hear attendance is going well at the ricoh tho - do keep us posted!

A relatively quiet weekend for us - DH had 2 games to ref on sat am, back to back, and when he was getting a haircut afterwards they rang him asking him to do a third. He had to say no as he was comepletely tired out, but it's such a shame there are so few refs.

Fri night we had a rare night out at a comedy show just round the corner from us. It was a reasonable price and a fun event, we'll keep a look out for more.

Sunday I was was working on my website, FB page, business bits and bobs, till about 3pm, when I decided I'd had enough and went to read my book and watch a few bits on netflix. So not very much to report form us at all.

Socks goes to have her stitches out on Thurs, and then I can fill in the cat insurance paperwork!

    Much love to you all,

    Hoglet x
  • Poor He Who Knows has had a sore tooth for a couple of days and I made him ring the dentist this morning and they saw him at 4.55 today. Poor boy has an abscess and will have to have an extraction on Wednesday and be on antibiotics for a few days starting now. I'm now wondering if it's wise to be going away on Friday, I guess I'll have to see how he fares and decide on Thursday night/Friday morning. I hate to let Nell down, I've never missed one of her concerts since she was 5 years old but if he's poorly this might be a first!.

Lyn, poor man, so painful. Once the antibiotics kick in he should be fine, I hope he isn't a ble*der because that can be nasty.

    Give him a gentle hug

  • Tooth successfully departed at the first pull by the dentist and He Who Knows was back on the bus home half an hour later, can't be bad can it? He's still frozen but has had a cup of tea and some rhubarb and greek yoghurt and is now putting wood preservative on the new fascia boards on the summer house.

The spiralizer is wonderful and makes one piece of fruit/veg into amazing veggie noodles which are lovely just lighty steamed. I also made curly potato noodles which when sprinkled with paprika and sprayed with a light oil spray made the best oven fries ever. It's going to earn its keep very quickly!

Lyn that is good news about He Who Knows, he is a brave little soldier :) I hope it isn't too painful tonight.

The spiralizer sounds exciting, there will be no end to the exciting dishes you will be serving up.

    Good evening all,

Weather very mixed today with showers and then sun.

Had my nails done this morning and after Himself dropped me off he went to see DD. She is fine (as fine as she is likely to be), did her shopping yesterday. She didn't bother last week, because like me, she was trying to empty the freezer to defrost and clean. We haven't managed to empty ours yet but we are getting there.

DD isn't holding out much hope for Independent living allowance. When she went for the health assessment she said the Doctor was lovely, but he didn't hold out much hope. Because she can do things with the top half of her body he doesn't think she will be able to receive anything. Thank goodness her mortgage is almost paid.

Taking DGD2 to the orthodontist first thing tomorrow morning and then on to school. We have a shop being delivered between 12 and 2 and I have a bit of washing to do.

Over the weekend Himself wants to paint the bannister and the four doors upstairs and hopefully the weather will be better and I can get outside to paint the gates and bench and anything else that isn't moving.:) When I have a paint brush in my hand anything goes.

Can't think of any more news from Candlelight Towers, it is a quiet week.

Hoglet I hope Socks is fully recovered now.

:hello: AOT hello, are you OK?

SM I know you must be really busy, unless of course you are travelling. Hope you are OK.

    Much love

    Morning everyone,

MLW - good news about He Who Knows's tooth, I hope he recovers well :-) And I do love the sound of the spiraliser.

Candlelight - great to hear about yur painting plans, although sorry to hear the likelihood of DD getting independent living allowance is slim.

Socks is much recovered thank you, she is due to have the stitches out very soon. Last week I still thought it looked very raw, but looking at it last night it looks to be healing very well. Thank goodness for good vets.

DH has a game to ref about 10.30 on sat so at least it's not an early start, and then he's helping his friend out by being assisstant referee for him at 12, so that'll be a lot of the day gone. Gives me a chance to do a bit more work on the buisness, and fingers crossed, finish my course off.

Not really a lot of news from me, we continue on!

    Much love,

    Hoglet x
  • Morning gang, He Who Knows is fine this morning, not even too sore so thank goodness he went to the dentist on Monday and they gave him the antibiotic before the extraction, it's made such a difference already and the abscess is almost cleared. I'm off to the library this morning to take back a couple of books before I go to Nell tomorrow and to pick up a few bits and pieces of fruit and veg for the weekend. I'm hoping to get back on Monday before the proposed rail strike starts so will be getting a very early train before 9 o clock and hope to be home by 11.30. I had a go at some Swedish 'almost' jam last night to use up some rhubarb, I didn't think it had worked last night but the recipe said leave to get completely cold before sealing jars so I did, it's lovely!!! It's a much softer set than conventional jam as it was 2kg of fruit and 600g of sugar but the flavour is really good we had some this morning for breakfast with some YS croissants. You can vary the flavour and add in cinnamon sticks, star anise or cardamom(which I used) and I'll definitely use this method again which is basically chop up the fruit and put it in a deep oven dish chuck on the sugar and spices and put it in a very low oven until the sygar and fruit juice have made a thick and gloopy syrup, so easy and delicious!

Lyn have a lovely time with Nell and enjoy the music. No train strike now so you should be OK

Glad He Who Knows is feeling OK, so it is just him and Docky over the weekend, I am sure you will receive lots of sluuuuuuuuuuuurps when you come home.

    Safe journey my dear friend

    Much love
