SM - since when was a 14 a plus-size? Absolutely crazy!0
-
Hello all, thanks for missing me
. Just been stupid busy
Kate sorry for your loss
FTM, you gotta laugh. The average size is 16, I think you are ok
Up to my neck in marking and more marking. Deadline is tomorrow so should ease off after that, even if I don't finish
Still auditioning with DD, she is still getting rejections
It is cruel and a scam and I am rather disillusioned with it all. Take your money (£50) for a five minute audition, then it's yes or no with no further explanation or feedback. I wouldn't mind if they told her she wasn't going to make it, at least she'd know. Oh but "join our foundation course for five grand" - oh "but there's no guarantees of getting on to the degree". Really don't put your daughter on the stage, Mrs Worthington.
Had four teenagers for a sleepover on Friday, always fun. I do really like DDs friends. And one of them cleared up:T
DS had his first two matches as a football referree yesterday. Unfortunately he hated it. They were only aged 6, but it was harder than he thought to keep on top of the game. He earned £18 for a mornings work - not bad for a 14 year old, but I don't think he will pursue it.
Bed time for me, I think. A tough week ahead.
Night all.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Morning all, KATE I'm so sorry about Charlie cat, I hope you and the other felines are coming to terms with his loss, it takes a while doesn't it?
Size 14 a plus size is sheer nonsense and makes me think it is no wonder that so many of our young folks have eating disorders when the size zero model is regarded as the norm, it's just another sign of the completely out of touch way in which the media portray life in 2014. A friends daughter who was very severely anorexic and so very light that we worried for her life was approached when on a trip by someone from a modelling agency who said she was exactly the type of person they wanted on their books, would she be interested!!! What kind of message does that send to a slim size 10 ??? It's just a pendulum swing in life though, look back to the voluptuous paintings of scantily clad ladies in the 1700s and fashions change. Was a time when a man was judged by the plumpness of his wife and if she was nicely rounded it was evidence that he was a good provider, it will swing back I'm sure given some time.
DD and baby Zebra are doing well, still not getting enough sleep but are beginning to be able to get out of the flat for a stroll most days and she's had visitors most days over the past week and has things booked in for most of this week so has declined a mumsie visit and might let me go for a couple of days next week. I think things are beginning to settle for them and will continue to do so as he grows and puts on weight. She's still having to feed often but I think a routine is emerging. Have a good day all, we've blue sky and sunshine after an amazingly beautiful sunrise today, lovely!!! Lyn xxx.0 -
Good morning everyone. Sorry have not felt up to posting much Candlelight and FTM but have been reading along. I've been feeling very down lately and in order to try and pick myself up have taken to crochet again. As there was loads of donated ends of wool am in the process of making a scrap lap blanket - not for my lap but my feet which are always cold these day.
If 10-12 are 'plus' sizes than I (a seriously extra large lady) have no hope at all of wearing anything other than a sack:rotfl::rotfl:
Sorry about your loss Kate.
Today I have to visit the dentist so am not looking forward to that.
Keep well everyoneUse it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
Yipeeeeeeeeee we are all together, almost on one page:)
SM good to see you, and you sound as though you have been really busy, and my goodness the cakes sound good.
AOL I am so sorry you are not up to par yet. The trouble is when you have had a nasty infection it can take an age for everything else in your body to get back to normal. I know from your other posts that things have been difficult in the past, but I do hope you can find some peace of mind in the near future. Do you know when DDs were young I could crochet (nothing difficult) and now I seem to have forgotten completely how to do it. I am sure you must find some satisfaction in your crochet, perhaps watching TV and resting in your favourite chair. I hope your mood lifts as spring approaches, and if you want to PM me I am a good "listener"
Much love to everyone

Hope the dentist went well AOT. I think the lack of daylight makes such a difference to our mental wellbeing so hopefully the longer evenings and odd breakthrough of sunshine will help lift your mood x
VJsmum, sounds like a stressful time, is your DD having second thoughts or does she still want to forge ahead?
MrsL, that's exactly the problem for girls (and increasingly boys), they are set such unrealistic expectations and make themselves ill trying to achieve it. I remember at around 20 my (controlling) ex telling me I was getting "tubby" when I went from a size 8 to a 10!
SM, not sure if I would manage to forget 10 bottles of bubbly! Enjoy, whatever the occasion you open them for x
I am a 14 at the moment and the only concern my OH has is not for how I look but for my health.
Have done some sewing jobs this evening which I have been putting off - reattaching a button which was dangling by a thread, mending a side seam in my favourite work trousers and fixing a pocket back on a nearly new cardigan which ripped about the third time I wore it. I am rubbish at sewing so I always put it off but had the inclination today!
Been out at a work meeting at a hospital today so made sure I took a drink and snacks with me. My lovely colleague bought the tea at Costco as she won some money at the weekend. Was nice to get back at a reasonable time too.
We're looking for a carpet fitter to do the stairs and landing but seem to be struggling - we fitted the carpet in the living room, dining room and downstairs hallway ourselves but just cannot find the time at the moment to finish the job. I thought it would be about £70 as we were quoted £95 to do hall, landing and stairs but the only person who has responded so far has £95 for the two.
Thank you all for the kind wishes, lots of love x0 -
So I'm sorry I haven't been around but I have been reading, just didn't want to bring the thread down.
Big {{{hugs}}} Kate - Thinking of you - its a hard time after losing a beloved pet. I hope that in time that you'll look back and remember the nice things that you shared with Charlie.
We still fondly remember all our cats even though some of them passed over 22 years ago - gone but never forgotten and have never stopped loving them...just hope that there is an afterlife and we can be re-united
Struggling with my rheumatoid arthritis at the moment so reading rather than posting but had to break cover to offer my heartfelt sympathies.:heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls

Hello FTM we've just set skype up on the pootr so I've been catching up with Zebra and his mum this morning. Gosh he's grown since a couple of weeks ago, his little face has changed and he's so much more awake bless him. He's being a bit difficult with being put doen to sleep at the moment but nothing that won't sort itself out given a few weeks. I'm going down for a visit next week to be useful and this time mind him while mum gets on with a few necessary jobs, going to be lovely, Lyn xxx. :-)0

They do change quickly don't they.
When my DS was born I had a post natal "gynae" problem and had to go back in for a D and C. Because I was breast feeding J had to come with me and we had to go to the maternity ward as it was the only "locked" ward. My goodness the fuss they made of him.
He was one month old and massive, at 10lb born he had grown exponentially and only just fitted in the plastic tub cot they have. We were plagued with staff coming to visit the huge baby who looked so different to the new borns, even though he was still so young.
The funniest thing was OH bringing him to the hospital (I had been blue lighted in  but they couldn't carry the baby in the ambulance) so OH is walking through the hospital, TOWARDS the maternity unit carrying the baby :rotfl: there was lots of "you can't bring him back you know"
He is nearly 15 and nearly 6' now and mouthy (but nice mouthy if you get me - a little cheeky but funny). <<sigh>> where do the years go??
No, FTM, DD isn't put off the stage life yet. We have another 5 auditions to go, and anything could happen. But if she doesn't get in the next step is deciding what to do - apply for foundation, which will cost; go to the local college and do a drama diploma for a year (though she will be treading water for that year) or apply for something else through clearing and get involved in all things dramatic and then do masters. We have some money put away, but it won't go that far.
Ah well, we shall seeI wanna be in the room where it happens0
