Afternoon everyone,
It is very quiet on here, everyone must either be very busy or relaxing, and I don't blame you.
Himself had a lovely 70th birthday, low key as he had asked, but lots of visitors. He had lots of money (what do you buy a man who has everything!!) and a new laptop. His old one had been a little temperamental for a while, so he was very pleased. He also had a chocolate birthday cake.
Still going DD1 each day. Changed her bedding today and brought home so that is in the WM as we speak. Took her to 2 hospital appointments this week, both almost at the crack of dawn:). The physio has said that the op she has had is very much like a broken leg so she will be in some pain for a while yet, but I do hope it starts to ease soon.
It was raining first thing when we went out, but has stopped now, although the sky looks as though there is lots more to come.
Good news Lyn about baby Zebra (I love that name) and also about your lodger. I am glad everything was sorted and that she loves her job. I am sure she will have a social life in no time at all.
FTM I hope you and the girls are OK and enjoying your half term. Have the doctors decided what they are going to do for you?
SM I hope you are OK. My sister is home from Florida at the moment but returns in March. I think it must have been a bit of a shock returning to our weather, haven't managed to see her yet.
I don't think I have any more news at the moment.
Take good care of yourselves
Much love

Hello all...we are ok thank you..just having a relaxing week..watching films and sleeping in..luxury..
Candlelight..am so glad your hubby has had a great birthday..and a new laptop lovely..i usually get vouchers or money for my birthday..its nice then to go and buy exactly what you would like..so glad he had a great day.
We have done a big online shop and it arrived yesterday..so nice to have full cupboards and freezer again..going to make it last as long as possible..i went to the co-op and found some meat bargains..pork chops and beef steaks both for £3..so they have been sorted and frozen..i also bought a christmas cake..sliced it wrapped i them and froze them..will be nice to have a slice in the summer..
We took the girls for lunch at our fave coffee shop..lovely quiet place..then went to Home Bargains and stocked up on bits and bobs..found some quirky napkins..they look like £50 notes..so we have those for meal times..lol was chuckling at how decadent it was..well looks it anyway..
We went to the antique shop and had a rummage through the bargain baskets..found a lovely serving dish with 4 matching bowls for £1..they are so pretty..the right size for puddings.
The girls little friend came over to play on tuesday this week..here all day and not one cross word between them all..so sweet to see them all get along so great..her mum came and had a cuppa in the afternoon..brought a huge bag of clothes for them both..pj's,cardigans and some dresses..lovely..i gave her a dozen eggs..my chickens have started to lay again with a vengeance..3 eggs a day bless them..can't keep up..better than having none though.
Hubby has been to the allotment with sam and got it all ready for planting..got potatoes chitting away..
I am looking for a bookcase again..not sure what to have though..a dark wood for living room or pine for the landing..will have to see the price first thats a major factor.
I have been printing colouring pages for Fern and Iris..we have done themed colouring books..fairies,princesses,flowers,pirates and of course dinosaurs..we have also been in the garden tidying up and doing a bit of weeding..looks much nicer..also had to trim some tree branches..give us a bit more light..Simon and Sam are going to cut down the Hazel bushes to waist height..the grass desperately needs some light..re-planned the garden layout..the wendyhouse is against the fence under the trees hence the trimming, extending the chicken pen hence the Hazels being cut..the climbing frame swingset and slide are going near the wendy house and Simon wants to get the trampoline out again this year..i love that..and then if we are granted a warm summer we want the big pool out..love that too..so busy planning and measuring..o and i really need to buy some little slabs to get across the grass with out getting muddy feet..i would love to make a little pathway to the wendyhouse and climbing frame..will have to see how much it will cost..maybe just one path at a time.
MLW..i love zebra..its just so darn cute..glad Ezra is settling down and ruthie is feeling better..you take care..
right got to go..
take care all..
love ftmBe who you are, not what the world expects you to be..:smileyhea

Hi FTM you sound as though you all have been busy.
Can I say antique shops are my weakness. We go to Norfolk each year, and in Holt they have the most wonderful antique shops and not all are really expensive. I love to rummage for a bargain. Last time I was there I could have stayed all day, except for one thing, I was desperate for the loo, so after 2 hours I had to leave. That's another thing about growing old:)
Well it has been a lovely day here, washing done, hoovering done, we had liver and bacon for evening meal, which was delicious. Have just put the ingredients for a weetabix cake into soak, will make it in the morning.
DD1 has had a better day, not so much pain so hopefully might be turning a corner.
Have a great weekend everyone and take care, I understand it might be colder over the weekend.
Much love

Hi all..wow its so windy here today..it was last night too..thankfully we have had a few nice sunny days so i suppose we are due a bad one..
Candlelight..yes i love this antique shop..its on 3 floors each one holding more goodies..we leave our bags with the lady downstairs so we can't accidentally knock over anything..and we discovered they have a tea room on the top floor..o what heaven..antiques and tea..will be going again pretty soon i think...
I am so glad your dd is getting on so well..nothing worse than being in pain and can't stop it..
The weetabix cake sounds good and so does liver and bacon..i haven't had that for yonks..will get the recipe out..you always make me hungry.
MLW..how are you and he who knows..and the baby and your girls..hoping your all ok..girls send hugs to docky..
AOT..are you there..hoping your ok.
SM..yoohoo..hello glad your back..
VJ's mum..hello hows it all going..
Katep..hiya you all ok..
Well i am feeling a little insulted today..i went to look for a dress yesterday for Heathers hen night..i saw a lovely black dress with a swirly pattern ..it was a size 8..so i went and asked if they did it in a 10-12..the girl who by the way was much larger than me said..sorry we don't do that in a plus size..what???!!!...you may want to look in the larger section...i stood there looking like a gobsmacked duck..mouth open and starting to feel a bit emotional...she just smiled sweetly(sickly) and walked away...so i put the dress back and left...came home and told Simon..bless him he laughed...i didn't realize 10-12 was a plus size..is it or was she just being mean..anyway..i looked on ebay and found a nice one..
Today we are relaxing a bit more..going to have a nice piece of beef for lunch..and then watch a film with girls...i just have to prepare work for next week and then i am done..
Am hoping your all ok and the wind doesn't get you...
love to you all

Good gracious FTM if you are plus size at 10-12 what does that make me? Doesn't bare thinking about, and you say she wasn't stick thin either. Take no notice of her.
Lunch sounds good, we are having chicken, just popped it into the oven, with all the trimmings.
Have a good week and give the girls a hug from me.
Much love

Hi ladies, sorry I have been awol, had a really tough month. 4 weeks ago we took our cat Charlie to the vets as he had lost weight and we sadly lost him 2 weeks ago.
He had been having chemo and seemed to be almost back to his normal self then after the second round he went downhill very quickly and passed away at home during the night whilst we both sat stroking him and talking to him.
We have some cat mint to plant (17 plants!) and when the tree in the front garden came down last weekend we bought a Charles Ross apple tree to plant in its place. OH also got two lovely pictures printed onto canvas. Have been feeling very low, we try and remember the good times but it is sinking in now that this is it.
Everytime I feel sad, I try and remember the only memory from the last month I want to take with me. We got referred to a specialist centre and we took Charlie there; once the vet had examined Charlie, he said we could leave him to wander around the room. Whilst we were having a very serious and emotional conversation about the options, Charlie decided he was being ignored and jumped up on the vets lap and started rubbing his face against the vet's beard. The vet was very enamoured after that :rotfl:
So I'm sorry I haven't been around but I have been reading, just didn't want to bring the thread down.
Sounds like you have all been busy.
MrsL, hope Zebra and DD are doing well and settling into a routine.
FTM, can't believe the cheek of that woman - large sizes indeed. Sounds like she has her own body issues and is taking it out on you.
Candlelight, glad himself had a good birthday x0 -
Hello I'm here (slinks in with head down).
I'd love to say I've been run off my feet with something exciting over the past few weeks but reality is I have no idea where on earth my time has gone.
I've been on a few business trips recently - they were a sobering reminder that while the Scottish weather has been pretty rubbish it is nothing in comparison to the dreadful situations people in the far south have been in. I flew into Gatwick last week and found myself absolutely choked up at the sheer volume of water in placed where it simply should never be. The tipping point was the sight of about 30 wrapped silage bales marooned in what looked like a lake. Cue lots of nose blowing so the passenger next to me didn't realise I was sniffling and think I was loopy!
I've had an afternoon's baking today - orange sponge from Rachel Allen's book for dinner at mum's tonight. Declared delicious and the leftovers were left behind for her and dad to enjoy later in the week. I also made blueberry crumble loaf for the office - looks good and meringues for a family birthday do tomorrow night. I had planned to do something with plums but they are like bricks so have placed them in a bowl on the kitchen table and will do something with them later in the week.
I've been working through store cupboard stocks since we came home although I've now had a Costco trip which resulted in me buying 200 summer bulbs. Hubby was not best pleased. The stocks are coming down though although my cupboard reorganisation has led to the discovery that I have 10 bottles of vintage champagne. Now I just need an excuse to celebrate - I'm waiting for my first spring bulb blooming - mum and I reckon that's a good reason for a champers toast!
I haven't had a chance to read through all the threads yet so:
FTM - I hope you are feeling better
MRS LM - I hope baby Ezra is thriving and mum is well
Candelight - I'm sure your sister thinks she has landed in Antarctica. It never ceases to amaze me how I can forget what cold weather feels like as soon as I step off the plane in Tampa.
Kezlou - hope you had a good week off with the children.
Kate , VJ'smum and anyone else I have missed -greetings and best wishes to you all.
Off to enjoy the last of Sunday - I've just been informed hubby has found a big hole in his jogger bottoms (cynically I think he found a small hole and made it bigger!) - looks like a repair looming!
ETA - Kate - just saw your post - I'm so sorry about Charlie0 -
Oh Kate I am so sorry for your loss, at least you were both with him and he knew he was loved. What joy our pets bring us and what heartache when we lose them.
Hugs and love to you both, and Himself and I are thinking of you, together with Flora our lovely cat who adopted us.
Much love

FTM - just read your post about the dress size - what a cheek! I saw a dress in a shop last year in an upmarket town nearby and asked if they had a 14 - the owner said her "plus sizes" had been delayed. 14 - a plus size??? Needless to say that it one shop that will not get a penny from me!0

Thank you both, the hardest thing is he was so young (only 6) we were so unprepared. He was also the first pet we have lost who was ours rather than a family pet, who we were responsible for, if that makes sense.
We have 3 other cats, so they keep us busy and make sure we know we are needed
One of our cats is Charlie's brother who we have booked in for a check-up and blood tests to make sure he is okay although he seems like the picture of health.0
