    Good evening everyone,

Another really cold day today, took an age to clear ice off car before going out.

Popped to Mr T to get a few things and then to M&S to buy DD1 2 pairs of tracky bottoms. None of her jeans will fit over her leg brace so I thought these would be better. She starts physio next Monday. We go up each morning to make sure she has food and drink to hand and to do general housework. She is still in pain but is in good spirits.

Himself is 70 next Monday and DGS is 17 the following day. Himself has said he doesn't want any fuss, so will try to keep everything low key. I think I have said before he is a very quiet man so will do as he asks.(don't know what has happened to type!!)

DGS will have money off us, what do you give a 17 year old, because I know nothing about electronic games, It is actually half term next week so I am sure he will be off out with his mates and girl friend.

Sister and brother in law coming back from Florida on Friday. She says the weather hasn't been good at all and she hasn't been able to swim in their pool (oh dear:)) Anyway I will be pleased to see her.

Himself has a nasty bug, his sinuses seem to be blocked and he isn't having much sleep at night, so a bit grouchy at the moment.

AOT how are you? Are you fully recovered from the chest infection?

Lyn good news about Ezra, I am sure he will continue to thrive now.

FTM hope you and the girls are OK, and hopefully you are not in pain at the moment.

I don't actually have any more news, a bit boring at the moment. I really want spring to come because I do hate the winter. I also know we are very lucky here in the Midlands because we never seem to have extreme weather, but I am fed up of the constant rain and the cold seems to penetrate my bones.

    Stay safe everyone.

    Much love

  • Morning CANDLELIGHT I'm actually off to visit them for a couple of days tomorrow just to do housework she can't manage and I'll cook supper and give SIL an evening off so he's off to play squash with his pals and have supper out so DD2 and I will have a nice natter and I'll get lots of Ezra cuddles. They have a visit to the TongueTie Clinic in the morning on Wednesday so there might be progress when I get there. Miswife visit booked for Thursday so I'll be there for that and hopefully he'll have put on a bit more weight. Little lad wasn't actually due to be here until yesterday so I hope it will be onwards and upwards for him from now on. Dd wants us to go out for lunch on Thursday which will be nice and then I'll get an afternoon train back home. Really looking forward to seeing them again, it's the downside of living at a distance when I'd like to be more help than I'm able to. Never mind, we speak most days and text each other when we don't and I can get there within 3 hours if they need me quickly, have a good day and Happy Birthday to Mr.Candlelight. I have a sympathy over not wanting fusses made, I hate it and much prefer just a spoken happy birthday and a card, much more me!!! Lyn xxx.
  • Hi everyone,

Well the weather is just dreadful today and I am so fed up of rain and wind. I know we are very lucky because we have nothing like lots of other people, but I am still fed up (rant over - sorry)

Lyn I hope your visit is going well and you are having lots of cuddles from Ezra, and DD was pleased to see you, I am sure she was. There is no one like your Mum when you are feeling a little overwhelmed.

Charlies-Aunt is there any improvement at work? I worked for the Local Authority for 26 years so dealing with the public like yourself and I have some idea of how hard it is, and I know for a fact things are even more difficult now. I have one friend who still works there (the rest of us are all retired now) and the stories she tells me are shocking. Also when someone leaves they are reluctant to replace that person, so the workload falls to the rest. She is a lovely friend and a really good worker, but I look at her sometimes and she looks worn out. Hey ho I am just relieved I am retired now.

FTM how are you and the girlies? Has Sam managed to find any work yet? DGDs boyfriend has just found a job, only 2 days a week at the moment, but has been assured when someone leaves he will have more hours. It is so hard for young people now. When I was young I was a legal secretary and it was easy to move from one firm of solicitors to another. I would leave on the Friday and start work with another firm on the Monday. I know we were not paid a great deal and we only had 2 weeks holiday but at least we had a regular job.

Himself and I are tucked up here nice and warm and the cat (little madam) is fast asleep. Himself will have a nap in a while and I am going to do some baking. For tea tonight we are going to have sausage and mash, carrots, broad beans and onion gravy (comfort food)

Take care everyone and stay warm and dry.

  • Hi all..am still here..we have been rushed of our feet with this and that..mainly working on division with Fern this week..we have been using the marbles and the little cake cases to divide up a set amount of marbles so she has a visual concept of it..Iris keep pinching them and playing with them ..cheeky monkey..

The girls have developed some new tastes..cauliflower cheese and eggy bread with smoked bacon..yummy..i was surprised that when i put it on the table for dinner one evening they actually ate the cauliflower cheese ..and i love eggy bread but they have never been interested..we had it for lunch on saturday and they asked for it yesterday so i am pleased with that..gives me more scope for meal plannning..
We are having a home made chinese tonight..got some pork in the slowcooker with a lovely bbq sauce..chicken dipped in batter with a lemon sauce..brown rice and some prawn crackers(had to buy them)..doing it with lovely fresh salad and onion rings..smells divine at the moment in my kitchen..
Its Sams 20th birthday tomorrow..o my baby boy is all growed up..we have got him some very nice aftershave and some money..his sisters have got him some of his fave choclates..i am making him a kitkat cake..basically a huge choclate cake covered in choclate fudge with kitkats around the edges....Andrea enjoyed her gifts too...she was very pleased with the sewing kit i put together for her..

Candlelight i hope your hubby has a lovely day..bless him.wish him a great day from us all...Sam has applied for 6 jobs since Christmas..been to 2 interviews..so fingers crossed..but in the mean time he is working on his own..decorating for his grandma..and doing all sorts for other members of the family too..building up his bank account quite nicely..plus getting recommended for other jobs too..so you never know he may just go self-employed and do that for a while..thank you for asking. Your tea sounds so lovely..we having home made chinese but got some lincolnshire sausages in freezer so may do the tomorrow..

  • Good afternoon all,

Well we have a day of respite before tomorrow's rain.

Glad you are OK FTM, and isn't it lovely when the children find a "new food" they like. It makes things so much easier when they eat much the same as the adults, and also good for them, of course.

Lyn I hope your journey home today is a safe one and not too many delays with the trains.

We popped into town first thing before going to DD1. I badly needed some new tea towels. I am really naughty I use them for taking things out of the oven instead of oven gloves, and then I end up with nasty stains on them. I also bought some for DD because her's looked a bit washed out. She looked at me a bit old fashioned when I told her I had bought her some new ones. It doesn't sound very exciting does it?

She seemed to have a better night last night so hopefully the pain is being controlled and the bone is knitting together. She has taken the dressing off (this is the nurse in her) and it is lovely and clean.

Washing machine is on for the third time today so will have some ironing to do presently. I do love to make the pile smaller by folding all those items that won't need ironing like towels, underwear, PJs etc. It doesn't look so daunting once those are out of the way. I well remember the days when the girls were at school, so school uniform and Himself wore a uniform as well so all those shirts!!.

That is my news for today, stay safe everyone and hopefully dry.

    Much love

  • Hi everyone,

Well that was a night, wasn't it? Horrendous winds which frighten the life out of me. Bins being blown up and down the road and actually into the road, very dangerous. We are very sheltered in the Midlands really so it must be dreadful if you are anywhere near the coast.

I was saying to Himself, when the weather settles fencing contractors are going to be so busy, good business for them obviously.

Lyn I hope you arrived home safe and sound without too much drama with the trains and that you have had a good amount of "cuggles" as my DD2 used to say.

Stay safe everyone and here is hoping for a quieter night for us all.

    Much love

  • Afternoon everyone, I ended up staying for an extra day as DD is having problems with the feeding and Ezra is still needing to be fed 2 hourly, exhausting schedule and DD is so very tired. However, he weighed in on Thursday at 3.180kg so the midwife was really pleased with his progress and DD hopes to be discharged from the midwife on Monday and handed on to the Health Visitor who hopefully will be much more useful at advice on managing a new baby. DD1 will be able to go to her for 3 days next week as it's half term and I'll go down for a few days the following week to help out so hopefully we'll get her through the most trying times. Journey home yesterday was horrible, the train was very dirty and much too full for comfort with people crammed into every available space and sitting on upturned suitcases. I dread to think what would have happened should there have been an accident, horrendous stuff, the weather was appalling too and we had such high winds overnight here, it was scary!!! Lovely day today though, we woke to bright sun and I've got washing dry on the line outside for the first time in months and had a dry walk this afternoon so not all gloom and doom either.

DD2s little godson came to visit yesterday in the morning with his mum and announced that he'd come to visit baby ZEBRA, I think that one might stick, so cute eh? Lyn xxx.
  • Morning everyone, just walked the lurcha down by the river for the first time in a week, the beach has washed up onto the road and up a hill and there are tree trunks, big bits of wood and all sorts of things lying around, it must have come up as far as the houses that front the river, certainly the pub had shingle and seaweed right up to and in it's front entrance, that storm on Friday must have been extremely powerful. I thank goodness that we live a couple of roads inland and up a slight hill!!!

DD2 had her 30th birthday yesterday and they actually managed to go out for lunch with Zebra and then on to visit a friend in the afternoon, they were absolutely shattered when they got back but DD was sounding so much chirpier when we spoke last night, I think she's got a bit of cabin fever from being stuck indoors for so long. I hope this dreadful weather lets up just a little, some warmth and sunshine would do an awful lot to cheer her up, all of us too I expect?

He Who Knows is off to DD1 today to fix a couple of fence panels which have been blown down in her back garden then he will take her to DD2 tomorrow and come on home from there. I'm going to have an easy day with some housework, ironing and maybe a little Olympic viewing on the TV, hope you are all safe and dry, Love Lyn xxx.
