  • Good afternoon my lovelies,

Half way through my post and lost it.

It is wet and wild here but not nearly as bad as some poor souls are having, thank goodness.

Popped out early just for bread and milk so I have no other shopping to get.

Have just made another batch of mince pies, a flan case with sliced apple in and topped with sponge, and 6 jam tarts out of the left over pastry.

FTM I am sure the girls are beyond excited now. I hope you have a lovely Christmas and that your house is filled with love and laughter. I am sorry Simon has to work Boxing Day but hopefully he will have time off in lieu. Himself always had to work part of Christmas and I only ever had Christmas Day and Boxing Day off. DD1 is a Staff Nurse so she always works as well, except for this year because she is waiting for the operation on her leg. I hope the wait isn't too long now.

MLW after this year your Christmas will take on a completely different look. Such fun having a new baby, so I hope you and He who Knows enjoy your quiet Christmas.

Scottishminnie, have a safe journey on Boxing Day, do you go to the Sunshine State? My sister and brother in law have only been home a couple of weeks and they are going back middle of January. They don't like the cold here!!

Kate, Charlies-Aunt and V Js Mum hope you and yours have a happy and peaceful time this Christmas and that the weather is kind to you.

I do hope I haven't forgotten anyone, but my love to all of you.

Finally to the lovely ladies who read this thread but don't necessarily post, thank you for taking an interest in our ramblings and in particular to Arthritic Old Thing. I know things haven't been easy for you recently, so I send you much love and I hope you have a stress free few days.

Happy Christmas to everyone and hoping for a healthy New Year for all of us.

    Love to everyone

Oh ftm, hope it goes okay at the dentist.

All okay here, one duck house blew over in the afternoon and broke the nest box so they were all snuggled up in the other two houses; at least they kept warm!

Out in Reading last night for dinner for OH's birthday. It was so quiet! The main route in had been closed due to metal debris off the shopping centre and obviously the weather was a factor but I have never seen it so quiet two days before Christmas.

Don't need to go out now until Boxing Day; over the road to our neighbours tonight for a buffet and few drinks then home tomorrow; off to in-laws BD and then down to my family on Friday.

Got our tree yesterday - £5 in B&Q for a 5 foot tall non-needle drop tree which is lovely. We timed it just right, drove straight into the car park, parked and by the time we got out they were queuing down the road to get into the car park. Took one look at the Lidl's car park and decided we didn't need pate that much though!

Wishing you all a very happy Christmas xxx
  • BE BRAVE Sara, I hope all goes well at the dentist, you can't have toothache over Christmas.

Oh FTM, glad you are sorted. I took delivery of my brand new mouth guard on Monday as I, too, grind and have put my jaw out of line. I went for a checkup two weeks ago, and all of a sudden was threatened with this or surgery  as, apparently, my jaw could seize shut :eek: (though there are some who wouldn't be complaining at that :p). I am wearing it for an hour or so here and there to get used to it, it's definitely doing something as it's making my face and headache.

Hope everyone else is sorted and all travellers have arrived safely. I am done - if it aint done yet, it stays not done. Am actually going to do a couple of hours work now to catch up with that - so that I can relax over the next couple of days. Mince pies not being done till boxing day as I can't see anyone eating them before then. Made sticky toffee pud for tomorrow, and will do all veg prep then. DD wanted Sushi for her starter tomorrow and I can't get the one she likes :( she will just have to have some later in the week. It's the one thing I can't conjour up from store cupboards. Ooh tell a lie, I have the cake to ice - but that won't take a minute.

Off for our traditional Christmas eve curry with friends later and then just the four of us tomorrow, friends for games on boxing day and some family on Friday for a few days.

What strange weather - we have had rain, hail, wind, sleet and sun in the last hour.

Happy and peaceful Christmas to all.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
