Hi everyone,
We had a very restless and windy night last night (weather wise!!). I find the wind frightening because you have no idea until morning what damage has been done. Anyway we are OK thank goodness, and much luckier than a lot of other people.
FTM yes we had a lovely Christmas Day. The children were relaxed (Son in law didn't come, long story) and DD2 was more like her old self, which she is when he isn't there. We can't do anything except be here when she needs us, and the children say this is their second home anyway.
Popped to Mr T this morning for bread, milk and some fresh fruit, oh and some more cat litter for little madam. She is costing us a fortune in litter because she is such a character. If her tray is soiled she won't use it again, but we do love her so it is worth it.
We have just had crumpets for lunch and Himself is trying to doze in the chair. Little Madam is asleep on our bed!!
I hope everyone is safe, sound and warm and if you must go out be very careful. There are some very strong gusts of wind.
Much love to you all

Afternoon everyone, I've had a major feel good factor today, I fit into my size 18 jeans again after 3 years not being able to, and I found a lovely waterproof coat in the sale at the garden centre again size 18 and it fits, so it's mine!!! I've still got some more to lose and it hasn't been at all hard doing the first bit so I'll just keep doing what suits me and hopefully I'll be able to play chase with Ezra when he's running around in the not too distant future. I feel so happy that I've got this far and confident I can get down to the size 14 I'd like to be!!! Stay safe all of you in these awful storms we're getting all to regularly and keep in touch so we all know we're all OK, Lyn xxx.0

Very well done Lynn, and don't you feel better for it? It will be so much easier finding clothes as well.
Four months ago I was wearing size 24 jeans (not a pretty sight), now I am in size 20. I know I am not there yet but I am really pleased, and this is just sensible eating not a diet, and I have so much more energy. You might remember I am diabetic and I was always able to control it by diet, but then last year I needed to have a tablet to help. I have cut out all rubbish and just eat healthily. Himself has done this with me which is an enormous help because I only buy what both of us will eat.
Ezra will have a lovely slim Oma who he will be able to have such fun with.
Onwards and upwards Lynn.
Love to everyone, have a good weekend before next weeks weather reaches us.

Wowsie!!! Mrs L-W and Candlelight! Inspiring stuff
Being a lady-of-a-certain-age, I find it really difficult to shed weight but I am determined to eat healthily and sensibly in 2014. (if only home baking didn't taste so nice!):heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls

How true Charlies-aunt, having 3 grandchildren I am always baking, and if I say so myself I make a good cake, but I have to be strong!!.
I feel so much better now, and I must admit I was becoming a little worried about my lack of energy. I am 68 so I didn't know whether it was my age, now I know it isn't it was just me eating too much of the wrong food.

Good morning all. Hope you are all safe and well, from what I can gather the weather still isn't too great so fingers crossed any damage is minimal.
Glad everyone had a nice Christmas. I'm inspired by the weight loss achievements. Despite lots of gym classes and healthy eating I'm considerably heavier than I would like. I know I'm fit however I really would like to be slim too - shallow maybe but I can't help it:o:
I'm planning some bargain hunting here today as we are having some rain so seems like a good day to shop. I was a bit disappointed to not find any reduced Christmas cards in target yesterday - looks like our US cousins have finally got the MSE bug!
Have a good Sunday everyone and stay warm and safe.0 -
Morning all,
The weather is absolutely dreadful here today. Heavy rain and strong winds. Himself managed to secure the fence with a new post and metal spike, but ideally it should be done the other side, but they have 2 very aggressive dogs and are the neighbours from hell.
I have lived on a farm and I have lived in the City and both have advantages and disadvantages. I was born in the City, met Himself when I was 20, moved to a farm in Kent and lived there until our elder daughter was 6 months old and then moved back here.
I loved living in the country, but there were few facilities, we were flooded several times and transport was difficult.
Living in the City everything is on site, regular transport, thankfully we have never been flooded, but oh for the peace and quiet we used to have and no trouble with neighbours. Never mind we make the best of what we have.
I am not a depressive person thankfully, I laugh too much for that, so my glass is usually half full, and therefore we just get on with it.
Himself has just gone to pick elder granddaughter up to take her to work because the weather is so bad, she is on lates today and early tomorrow so he will take her then as well. She is having her first driving lesson next week so hopefully she will enjoy it. She is a sensible girl and knows the car insurance is going to be very high but she is budgeting for that. When she became 18 we changed the savings account we had for her just into her name so she has quite a lot of money to buy a little runaround when she passes her test.
I hope everyone is keeping safe and not venturing very far. Scottishminnie is in the Sunshine State so you can be sure she is enjoying some lovely weather.
Love to everyone and take care

Well done on the weight loss ladies; I am feeling very uncomfortable myself and can't wait for the new year so we can start the healthy eating. Will also get back to exercising which I am not looking forward to but know I must, am so very unfit!
Any remaining cheese will be frozen, the house is chocolate free and we will be teetotal for most of January - the exception is when my sister and I are taking mum away for a spa break for her birthday with overnight stay.
Having a productive day, was up at 6.30 to make OH a cup of tea before he went to work and have been sorting and tidying all morning. Making it a habit to always take something with me when I leave one room and put it back where it should be.
Got 3 loads of washing done and drying on the radiators - can only do that when OH isn't here as he hates washing drying in the house!
Need to go out to buy duck food, take something to the collect plus shop to return to Amazon and swap something else at the garden centre but am putting it off until later this afternoon as it is foul weather here at the moment but due to get less windy / rainy about 3.00 (supposedly).0 -
Hi all - it may be the Sunshine state Candlelight but it rained cats and dogs yesterday. Was hilarious how some people react. Honestly you would have thought it was acid pouring from the sky!
I know what you mean about getting back on the exercise wagon Kate. I'm lucky to have a good spin studio right next to our hotel so I was cycling furiously by 5.30 this morning. Hubby thinks I'm crazy but I feel so much better now. I wish I was a natural runner as I envy people who run, especially out here in good weather but it just bores me rigid. Anyway even with the worlds best sports bra I have more bounce than zebedee - or is it wobble?!
Hoping for some time by the pool today. That's when I plan my garden planting and home improvements for the coming year:rotfl:. Hubby says it the most costly relaxation ever:D0 -
Afternoon all, ventured into town this morning and went to Mr.T as I needed to top us up with a few things we'd used up over the last week. I found lovely Belly Pork Rashers on the butchery counter reduced to £4.75p per kilo so a kilo came home with me, some to use tomorrow and some to freeze for later. It makes a lovely inexpensive roast dinner for us, I halve potatoes and spray them with the oil spray and roast the Pork on top of them until the skin is crispy and the fatty bits are golden and it makes beautiful roast potatoes as the fat from the pork bastes them in the pan, cheap and yummy! The weather this morning was atrocious, the rain was coming sideways in a very fierce windand it hurt my face dashing between shops and then on the bus home the skies cleared and the hound and I walked in sunshine under a blue sky this afternoon, where would we brits be without our weather eh? It looks like we're in for some more unsettled days this week and we're getting more and more flickers to the lights so I'm going to use tomorrow to make a few things that will sit in the fridge and reheat very easily should we lose power and have to use the camping stove. I'll make spaghetti sauce, some cooked potatoes (to saute with bacon and onion), and a big pan of vegetable soup that will warm us up when it's cold and I'll make a tray bake cake too, that will double up as pudding with some custard over it. We can make toast/crumpets/muffins on the woodstove if we get power loss so I'll be ahead of the game, stay safe everyone, Lyn xxx.0
