Erm...
There is a reason I am in the debt I am0 -
Oops ....
If your payment was due on 31/1/2012 there will be a late payment penalty if not paid within 30 days
I would ring them before the 30 days ends and try and set up a payment plan - ask them if this will stop a late payment penalty...worth a try

The deadline is tomorrow. Will try calling them on my lunch break from work.
This is why I went off the rails a bit recently, I knew this was coming up and didn't want to deal with it.
I have most of the money available to pay them, just not all of it. But for some reason my brain decided that was a good excuse to forget budgeting for a little while!0 -
First Penalty for late payment is charged when pmt is 30 days late
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/sa/deadlines-penalties.htm#6
but depending on how you pay it would probably need time to reach HMRC . eg Billpay takes 3 bank working days. Ways to pay:

Morning,
Just dropping quickly to see who you are doing. Have to agree with everything Skint has said to you re the tax Bill. I have found that HMRC are much more forgiving than they were many years ago. They are generally happy to set up a payment plan. A few years ago they weren't as accommodating. If you haven"t rung them yet, please do, it will benefit you in the long run. Once you have something set up it will enable you to work that into your budget as well.
Glad the car repair wasn't hugely expensive, sorry Skint to hear about yours though. What a nightmare !!

I rung them, lady on the phone was lovely.
She did demand full payment though, and wasn't too accommodating when I said I couldn't pay in full.
I have to ring back before 8pm tomorrow with a statement of affairs to show what I can pay them.
And she did say they will have expected me to approach the bank for a loan! I really don't think I could handle the humiliation of being laughed out of the bank! Or even worse, they may actually agree to give me a loan
Just going to stick to my guns and tell them I will pay what I can afford with no loans involved.
Fingers crossed!0 -
Yes I had similar with them a few years ago. At the end of the day if you have exhausted all avenues and you have a genuine reason for being unable to pay in full and they can see that from your SOA then hopefully all will be good and they will agree to set something up for you.
Good Luck xLBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !

I very much doubt impulsive spending classes as a genuine reason for being unable to pay
Just called them again to try and get a breakdown of the bill to see why it is so high, but they can't do that for me. Had to ring another number and was on hold for ages. Going to have to give up for a bit and take some deep breaths and try to work out what to do next, can't afford to spend much more time on the phone.
I totally deserve this, and hopefully it will teach me a lesson!0 -

Thanks for sympathy re car ... have gone off A£di a bit tonight.. had treated me and DS to lamb shanks and they were inedible, chewy, tough, sinewy...what a waste of £4.99
Did something I have never done before...flogged a gold bracelet in a pawn shopgot £60 for it though so can treat myself to some new clothes :j Havent bought any for almost a year.
Katy...hope you have better luck with HMRC when you ring them tomorrow. x0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗
