Not sure I could face going out with a notebook just yet. People round here would surely notice a crazy dog lady with a dodgy fringe making notes about the road surface!!

I dont know if the council will pay out, the position is a bit unclear if this thread below is anything to go by, but its worth a try

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2960772

    I just said:

    "COMPLAINT:

On (date) at (time) I was travelling along (road name) and I hit a pothole/sunken gas grate. I was travelling at approx 5-10 miles ph as I had just pulled away from the kerb outside my home.
As a result my drivers side coil spring snapped. I was unable to avoid the pothole/sunken grate due to its position in the road and parked cars. I have photographs should you wish to see them.
The damage to my car has been repaired by (garage) and has cost me (amount).
I would like to claim for this repair to be re-imbursed by the council. This road is a busy access road to (school name) and therefore I understand it should have been regularly inspected by you/your contractors.
I look forward to hearing from you."

I think I might give it a go then and borrow your letter as a template. I am going to struggle to take a photo though as there isn't anywhere safe to park nearby and it isn't a road I would like to walk along!

Took the dog out today and got rained on, and the fringe stuck out in all directions. I think a real hairdresser is something I can justify spending money on!!

Hi Katy, hope you had a good weekend.

Just to let you know the council contractor must have been out this morning as some of the potholes now have white marks round them or crosses in them. Only about 5 of them though - so dont know if this means they are not going to fill the others - but one of the ones they have marked is the pothole/sunken gas grate that I drove over, so I now await council response - they said they would get back to me once their contractor had been out to carry out inspection...

Last minute visit to friend just out of hospital today & forgot to take box/receipt back to A1di for refund on manky lamb shanks :( wonder if it will matter if I take it back next mon when I go shopping again - 14 days after purchase. Theres no time limit on box so might give it a go next week.

At least they are taking the potholes seriously :)

Just think of all the peoples cars who will be saved now, you could be a real life superhero!

When you go to A1di make sure you tell them when you ate the lamb shanks, otherwise they might think you left them 14 days to eat them and that's why they were manky :D

I have been listing things on ebay over the weekend. Listed some right junk but it has already got people watching them! I listed a pack of 3 razor cartridges with only 2 left as I used one, and 2 people are watching that. Also listed a half used bottle of hair lightening spray and people are watching that too. I'm not complaining!
  • :rotfl:Lamb shanks were frozen...best before Jan 2013 but thanks

Good luck with selling your stuff on ebay

Hi Katy hows yr week going ? At least its only 2 more days until the weekend :)

Well I am gonna have to start wearing my pants over my tights :o ok maybe not... but council have been out again and painted more white lines around more of the potholes. Plus my son took call from council contractor whilst I was at work today asking how much the damage cost on my car. I have called back on number he left & asked them to ring me tomorrow, so will see what happens next...fingers crossed !!!

    Finally the weekend, woo hoo!

My ebay stuff is selling, just got to hope it sells for enough to allow me to have a little treat (I am craving diary milk!) and to pay towards my debts.

Off to a carboot sale tomorrow (shopping not selling) because they have a farm stall that sells huuuuge veg really cheap. I also have a few bits and bobs on my list that I am allowed to buy if I see them.

    Happy weekend everyone :)
  • Hi Katy how was your weekend? Did you spend much at the car boot ? It was nice weather here on sunday and I had a potter round to our local car boot too, but what a load of tat..... didnt buy anything.

I got my £4.99 refund on the manky lamb shanks at A1di today. Felt a bit :o asking but glad I did cos for the price they were horrible.

No call yet from council contractor re my car. The number he gave me to call is always voice mail so will leave another message if he doesnt get back to me tomorrow..that will be a week since I last called. Did you send your complaint to the council ??
