I know it's not at all helpful, but I saw this earlier and it made me giggle :o

I was on the Lycos dating site but there was too many creepy men who kept asking me for pics of my boobs etc. I did meet up with someone but I didn't get along well. He didn't appreciate I had children and just expected me to drop everything and go out at short notice. Then he got stalkerish and kept ringing me and pestering me. If you do start meeting people, be careful and stay safe.

I did meet my husband online after I'd given up on Lycos. He was on a football site and someone started a thread asking for the best way to cook parsnips. I posted a roast parsnip recipe and he posted a different one and we had a silly jokey argument about cooking parsnips. Then we got chatting by PM and to cut a long story short, I married him, he became legal guardian for my boys and we had a daughter of our own :D
Here I go again on my own....

That made me giggle as well Becles! Thanks :) The story of how you met you're other half made me smile too. It's nice to see that people have met some nice people online. I did meet my ex on match.com so I know there are nice people who use internet dating...I also know there are some creeps who like to ask you about your sex life etc but that's what the block button is for :) I have just joined plenty of fish, so I'll let you know how I get on. I have put my photo up, which I'm not keen on doing in case people I know see me!

I'd be really keen to hear how you get on as I imagine I'll be giving online dating a go in a few months...

Mmm...plenty of fish doesn't seem to be off to a good start, can't even access the site as it keeps saying server error! Maybe this is a sign...

Smooch.com is not bad, and its free, I think it is one of the better free ones.

I have joined POF too, been on there a while now. There are a lot of people who are on there who are just after sex, also a lot of married men :eek:

There are nice people on there though who are genuinely looking for a relationship. I'm currently chatting to one guy and we're meeting next week sometime  I find all this dating quite scary after coming out of a long term relationship.

Let us know how you get on!

There seems to be a problem with the site at the moment, not usually like this.

I've had no luck on PoF - lots of dodgy emails from me wanting to get their leg over.

Had a couple of dates with seemingly genuine men who turned out to be strange!

Is it just me or has the dating game changed?

I thought I'd dabble in the online dating scene as I've been single a while now and within 5 minutes of signing up with smooch I got asked if I wanted to help someone with their cross dressing fetish or meet someone for some hows your father action lol, ahh well I suppose it can only get better surely!

That's hiliraous... hopefully it gave you a bit of a laugh snowbrow. I've now been on plenty of fish for 3 days, and so far I've not been asked for a sex once. I have been chatting to a couple of guys who seem nice and geunine, but I suppose I'll only know if that's actually the case if I meet them. There have been quite a few guys e-mailing and saying hi, how are you? but I'm not bothering replying to them as if they were actually interested in you they'd write something a bit more insightful.
