If i brought something in a shop and I wasnt happy with it I could take it back but it seems with subscriptions services you have no rights.

Actually, that's not true. A shop are under no obligation to accept returns or give you a refund unless the item is faulty. Some shops do this as a service to be nice!!

I know several people who use match.com, and it IS written in their T&Cs that you have to agree to that it automatically renews. They also tell me it's much better than free dating sites as those willing to pay to find love are more genuine about the whole dating thing!!

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I knew it was automatic renewal, it says so in your profile.

I met my boyfriend on it in March, I got a £20 offer to join, best £20 I ever spent.

All the free sites were full of guys who just wanted sex

Afraid I have to agree with other posters on here - it does state that you have to agree to automatic renewal when you sign up. Your mum passing understandably took your mind off of other, less important, matters but I'm not sure you can blame Match for something that you forgot to do.

I do have to admit to being biased though - I met Mr. G through Match & have been happily married for almost a year & a half now :D:D:D

I am pleased for you that you met your boyfriend on there, that is lovely.

My daughter joined there nore than twelve months ago and went to meet a few people for coffee. Either they were older than they said (or as their photo showed) or were a bit scary in their approach. She didn`t bother renewing and all was quiet for a while, then about 6 weeks or so ago she kept getting emails telling her that someone had viewed her profile or winked at her or sent an email.

She tried to go online to tell people she was no longer a member, but it just kept bumping up her profile I suppose - doh!

Are some sites, even the free ones, using the profiles of ex members to seem as though they have more current members?

I joined match.com on a "buy one month, get one free" deal. I really can't be bothered with it any more! Does anyone know if they are OK about it when you phone to cancel your subscription?

Yes - when I've phones or emailed them they have usuallly been really helpful. Sadly I have been on it quite a while and have not really met anyone on it (well have had loads of dates but it just never worked out).

Note to self... remember to cancel match subscription!

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

You wouldn't happen to have a promo code as I was thinking of joining? Pretty pricey though :)

They offer quite a good cashback incentive through topcashback... and paid quickly from what I remember....

You can delete your profile completely (which I am about to do whilst I remember) or turn the emails off......

My friends have been trying to persuade me to give internet dating another go, and I thought I might try e-harmony this time as I wasn't that keen on match last time I tried it. I've only heard of a friend of a friend using it, so was wondering if anyone liked/disliked it?

Also has anyone got a discount code, as it's £35 for a month subscription!

I'm not even sure I want to do the whole internet thing as I would really prefer to meet someone the old fashioned way, but to be honest I have met anyone for a long time who I've thought I could see myself with.

    Thanks
