I think you should cancel for the end of the 6 months. You'll still have to pay the full amount for 6 months even if you cancel sooner, so perhaps stick with it, and hopefully meet someone who isn't a nutter!
Don't let one overly keen person put you off! There will be lots more "normal" people on there, so you'll find someone you have something in common with eventually!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Yes I think you'll need to cancel it. My friend took out the 6months subscription but wasnt really keen on the site so he said he wasn't renewing it. They automatically took the money anyway for the next 6 months.Every time life knocks me down, I just stay on the ground for a bit and look up at the sky for a while. Eventually I get up and have a cup of tea.0

I have to agree with pinkshoes...don't be put off by one. I didnt use dating sites as such but was a regular chat room user. Although I genuinely did chat in an open fourm I also did talk privately to some guys and got dates from there, many being no more than just an evening out with no intention or desire on either party to be more than that. The first guy I met was lovely but was 250 miles away so never was going to be more than just a nice day out in London while I was visiting family. The second was closer here and seemed nice on chatting but was horrendous when we did meet. If I'd met him first I'd have probably given up!! As it was, 4 years on I met the man I'm now marrying next year and 8 of the guests at our wedding will be other couples who met through the same chat site. Online relationships can work so don't be too scared off.
But as the others have said, if you want to leave you can hide your profile until the cancellation takes effect0 -
make sure you cancel through the site directly or they could automatically signed you up again. This is what happened to me. I'd signed up a few times for 1 month or 3, but would have to sign up again for more. Then in May, I decided to sign up for 6 months as much cheaper, but after 4 months, I had more than enough and hardly ever went anymore. By the end of the 6 months, I hadn't gone for 4 weeks. I assumed it would just end, but to my shock, I was debited again for another 6 months. I was furious, but checking the rules, it was for me to inform them that I didn't want it to be renewed automatically. I wasn't a happy bunny at all. Ironically, after 4 years on and off on the site and many meetings going nowhere, I received a lovely message 4 days after they took the money out of my account again and well, 22 months later, I am very very happy and so so fortunate to have found the man of my life. It turned out to be the most expensive 4 days, but the most worthwile spend!!!
Do give it a chance, yes you will be contacted by a number of wierdos, but you will quickly recognise them. There are also some decent people, all those who have met, although didn't lead to anything were pleasant dates, and then of course, many do end up meeting 'the one', so go with it and have fun.0 -
Automatic Renewal - if you don't cancel in time, they charge you 6 months ahead!
Also, you CANNOT CANCEL ONLINE. YOU HAVE TO CALL THEM. I called, having been bitten 6 months ago (06/2010).
December 2010, I get charged again - no record of my call from June 2010 - so, tough - NO REFUND.
Even though my account was suspended on June 23rd 2010 and I have not used it since - THEY DON'T CARE - They will not refund me for the next 6 months charge of £77.94 - taking me to June 2011.
I have been asked to go through my calls, to prove that I made the call to them. Only then will they refund me.
Poor customer empathy, Supervisor laughed on the phone. Told me to go through all my phone records during that period.0 -

Are the renewals under a direct debit style set up?
If you've asked them to cancel and they haven't, go to your bank and ask the bank to refund the money - under the dd guarantee, they have to deal with the retailer if needed."This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0 -
isnt it funny how the only people complaining are 1-posters, probably the same person with a grudge.
for shame, no wonder you couldnt find love...
(ps im married to the girl i met on yahoo personals)Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000

Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)
new target savings by Feb 2010: 30,0000 -
I have no gruge against Match for not finding love - I did, but that didn't stop them chaging me a further £179.99 DESPITE cancelling my subscription on line (at the time there was the option to cancel automatic rebilling - which you can't do now only by calling).
Note to anyone who does this, you must keep a note of the date and time of the call you also need to look out for and keep a copy of an email conforming the cancellation - if you don't get it keep phoning up until you get it. They have a no refund policy even though it it sometimes their procedures that are faulty, I have found a number of people who got the cancellation email and were still charged and are struggling to get their money back.
I have no issue with the quality or availability of matches I do have a very serious issue with the way they manage the subscription service - is really is a case of buyer beware, and even if you are aware youi have to be very very vigilant about your money.0
