I'd say ditch the "Well I think it's fun" (makes you look like an odd person who thinks themselves funny but nobody else does
) and just leave "it beats being changed to a desk"

I was wondering if it might be an idea to look through some personal ads to see what other women have put and if you find one that sounds good to you and someone you think you would like to get to know, then pinch most of it and put a bit of a personal slant towards you.
I know men really don't want to meet anyone who sounds remotely "heavy" or "needy" though there will be men who will take advantage of needy to get some quick sex.
I talked (messaged) my man for over 6 months before we even spoke on the phone.
PS. I found a lot of men equated "fun" with meaning you were up for no strings sex. Just a thought.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

ok...
How about this then:
i am[strike] very[/strike] independent, fun and having a [strike]fairly[/strike] dry, dark sense of humour. I tend to take my work quite seriously, though try not to let that spill over into real life. Having said that i do get to do some fun stuff while at work, like donning my flowery wellies to traipse around fields looking at cows or potatoes! [strike]well i think it's fun and it certainly beats being chained to a desk 9-5![/strike]
i am quite sporty and have given most sports a go at one time or another to varying levels of success. [strike]from darts, which my friends won't let me play anymore because i can't hit the board to representing my university in hockey.
[/strike]
so what am i looking for? What i am looking for is someone that i bring out the best in and he brings out the best in me. Otherwise... [strike]i am open minded!![/strike]
hth.........................Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
My profile on a dating site is way too long and probably scares most of them and many just look at my pictures without reading, its a hard one i change mine regularly, probably because im in no nonsense mood, i will put something softer up again soon..
if i put mine up, you would probably keel over, but as one brave soul put it it beats i like shopping and ponies. although im happy to if you want a giggle..
my adivce - make a list of what you like most about yourself, and try and avoid the words honest, good sense of humour and i like staying in and watching dvd's - maybe i have read too many
what are your passions, if its football then say so dont be afraind to tell it like it is..0 -
LH - I belonged to IVC in my early thirties and it was a good way to socialise. 'Spice' might be good too - my memory is they are into sporty activity stuff a bit more.
By the way - in case it came over wrong - I think your wellies do sound fun and my OH would probably laugh (in a nice way) if I was wearing some, I just meant as a way of describing what you consider 'fun' I don't think it works for the male mind.
It sounds like you have some very interesting interests to me.
As for what you mean by independent - why not say that instead - be direct as I think it is one of your assets you offer to want a chap to being able to do his own thing too.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
from a man's perspective (who has had a few internet dates in his time), i would say the flowery wellies bit is good because most men like a woman with a feminine side and that certainly indicates this; the martial arts expertise is probably one to keep to yourself until you meet face to face and the ice has been broken, its a good card to hold in case you feel a date is going nowhere and you want to get rid of the guy by implying you could easily beat him up! seriously though, best of luck, there are a lot of players, psychopaths and liars on the dating sites but if you sift through the dross there are some decent chaps to enjoy some dates with and maybe that special one is on there for yousquaaaaaaaaacccckkkkkk!!!! :money:0

Thanks Squack... I have actually rewritten it completely so hopefully I will get less of the dross and more of the decent chaps!
Thanks Belle as well - I didn't really mean that is my idea of fun... only that it in terms of work it was just a little different from the norm.Right... am now off to check out Spice...
Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
I'm on dating sites, and have the same profile up. I think it's good to mention what kind of music/books you like, where you like to holiday, and maybe an ambition or two. I agree that far too many profiles are too long, but equally I don't like short ones that tell me nothing.
(The music for me is important - if a potential date only likes classical/opera, then he is not going to like my Rammstein).

I think Mababejive's corrections are good.
For heavens sake don't put in "openminded" that could open a big dark can of worms! :eek:But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
