I think you come across as quite serious and scary TBH, sorry but that was my impression.
Make it lighthearted and fun, and don't give too much away, a bit like clothes, you have got to want men to want to know / find out more about you, rather than just give it all on a plate.

    Good Luck

    Ok...

    How about this then:

I am very independant, fun and having a fairly dry, dark sense of humour. I tend to take my work quite seriously, though try not to let that spill over into real life. Having said that I do get to do some fun stuff while at work, like donning my flowery wellies to traipse around fields looking at cows or potatoes. Well I think it's fun and it certainly beats being chained to a desk 9-5!

I am quite sporty and have given most sports a go at one time or another to varying levels of success. From darts, which my friends won't let me play anymore because I can't hit the board to representing my university in hockey.

So what am I looking for? What I am looking for is someone that I bring out the best in and he brings out the best in me. Otherwise... I am open minded!!

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Er.... I would think twice about mentioning sports like Hockey or Football, as therse sports are fairly stereotyped, and may not be to your advantage, unless you want to imply you have a masculine mind or way about yo, which if your happy is cool too.

However running is ok, Pamela Anderson in Baywatch comes to mind :)
  • first all all -well done for trying internet dating and coming on here for advice:T. I have 2 freinds who are very happily married to lovely men they met on internet dating sites.
    My thoughts:
Your rewrite is still too wordy to me - I know the flowery wellies bit would be a complete turn off to my OH. Men generally won't get that as cute at all.
I would put independent not 'very independent' as that sounds potentially 'stroppy if I don't get my own way' - which I am sure is not what you meant. What are you tryingto convey with the 'independent' thing - 'I don't like being told what to do' or I'm not needy and looking to give up work and be kept'?. It could mean either.

    HTH and good luck
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Thanks Belle - I suppose what I mean by "very independant" is that I am am the type of woman who is happy for her man to go out with his friends and really would like him to have interests outside of our relationship... likewise I would like to have my own interests.

i'll amend again and see how that goes...

The other option is to mention that I am a jiu jitsu instructor but even I realise that would be too scary!!!! :)

Have you been to the salsa nights?? They can be fun but the novelty soon wears off and you're left dancing with older men who are having a great laugh dancing with younger ladies. It's a bit off-putting.

OP, your write up seems fine. Though I think the problem is, when I've been reading bios, it soon gets dull reading the same kinda thing over and over again.
First of all, see if you can re-word so not as many of your paragraphs start with 'I'. Other than that, perhaps write about something more personal that filled you with joy - a great moment on a holiday or summat. What you're aiming for is for the other person to read it and feel good/surprised/inspired - basically stimulating an emotion! This is more likely to make you stick in their minds.

Personally I don't see how internet dating is any different from socialising, apart from the fact that you can write in your pyjamas and be more relaxed.
Definitely see if you can get out as well though, if only to get practice at speaking with strangers! Me and SIL spotted a women's football practice poster in the local kebab shop, so will be going along to that! Though we're also on the lookout for other clubs with more male attendance :D

You could always put a different slant on it and describe yourself as 'very flexible' :)

Thanks Pinzy... things seem rather limited where I live... the curse of the commuter belt. I have been on the look out for things to do and am in the process of registering for IVC. I do also check the notice boards at all the supermarkets for things to do.
