I must just have a face that says - married men here / men over 50! So i have given up.

Thought it was just me! I think I must have a face that attracts men whose only criteria are blonde and breathing.....

Oooh yes, photos very important. You've got to know that there's a chance you'll find them attractive. You're looking for a romantic partner, not a friend, so there's got to be a bit of fancying possibility. Otherwise you're wasting their and your time.
  • Try match.com for free...go through quidco and register, you get one week free and quidco pay you £22...the cost of a months subscription!!! So, even if its not for you you get a week to try it out and money!!! Only for new registrations though. I have been on there myself (still am tbh!) and have met some really lovely guys...just not the one! Just make sure you are honest in your profile...i get fed up with meeting guys who say they are 5ft 10 and turn out to be shorter than me at 5ft 8!!!!
    Good luck with it all!!!

    Ha my first ever post...yey!!!!:T
  • okcupid.com is a pretty good website and completely free. I joined it after a few friends had and the nice thing about it (apart from being free) is that people seem to genuinely put some effort and personality into their profiles. People on there seem to usually be in their 20s or 30s and even if there is nobody in the area that you're remotely interested in the quizzes are good for procrastination (not that I need any help with that).
Currently unemployed (redundancy) but in control of my finances and hoping to get a new job, start a Masters course and save up for a house. A tough challenge but MSE will get me through it. :)

    Hi there,

I have searched and couldnt find anything similar, but if there is an existing thread I do apologise.

The internet seems to be overrun by site which promise they have the best people and promise they can find you "the one!"

Does anyone have any experience of these sites and which are the best value for money.....Im very skeptical and they seem to be quite expensive. Some want £30 a month!

I dont even spend that on myself a month to buy new clothes!

Any advice or help is greatly appreciated. :)

    TIA x

  • I met my OH on plentyoffish.com - its totally free, admittedly there are some slightly dodgy characters but if you filter those out I don't see why anyone would pay when it is free for pretty much the same thing! If you're skeptical about paying and money is tight then give it a whirl for a month or so!

  • I'd also recommend Plenty Of Fish. I met my current girlfriend on there (been with her 6 weeks). And a few other women I've become good friends with. Its great as its free and easy to use.
  • I met my partner in May 08 through Dating Direct. I'd been on a few of the free sites but I found the sites charging had far fewer "players" and "trolls" on there IMO! DD allowed me to join for 1 or 2 months as a trial, luckily we found each other in that time and couldn't be happier
Good wine needs to breathe, if it stops breathing try mouth to mouth.
  • I've tried several paid for sites. My experiences are that match.com is the best, datingdirect is good, and the rest are not worth paying for if you're looking for someone local-ish as they don't have enough members. If you're happy to meet someone from anywhere round the UK though it might be different.
