I spend a lot of time in the forums now, i think if you see a regular 'poster', you get a better idea of thier personality than what someone may write on thier profile. I think this helps sort out some of the wierdos. I can confirm it is 100% free, so you have nothing to lose by having a go.

It worked for me and another 4 couples on here :) Get yourself in the Online Dating thread! :T
  • I have been on a few  for a few months now.

Have recently given up on my match profile, due to renewal costs, and have been playing about with the free ones.

Yes the free ones are a bit naff, but there are some good people on them (well I am aren't I !!). You get used to the weirdos and just ignore them.

I admit I am one of 'they' people who do not respond to a lot of messages. I did initially but either the conversations where dragging out & I wasn't interested or if I said I wasn't interested I would get abuse as to why not

(For verification ask on the OD thread .... had an hour long msn 'chat' with someone who called me shallow, insecure etc etc because I apologised and said I wasn't interested)

I am just enjoying getting to know new people and if I meet someone special then all the better.

Go give it a try, what do you have to lose !! :D

    Bad manners cost friends !

    Debt-free and Proud!
thanks for all the comments. I am registered on Ok cupid now, although it wont take my picture for some reason, says it not compaitible, but im working on that, got chatting to someone from Zoosk, which is a facebook application, and will try a few more in the weeks to come. Will try and pop in to the Money saving arms dating thread as well. Thanks. xxx
Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.
  • I am considering trying a dating site at some point as I'm single at 28 (male, no kids), just wondering if anyone's got any recommendations?

A friend told me it's worth using one you have to pay for as members are more likely to be genuine and not just on there as a joke, is that true?

i was on yahoo personals for a while 3 years ago, just looking for genuine friends and i found one, only one but that was enough as we are getting married in 2 weeks.

definately pay for a subscription, 3 month or whatever is available as it will let you send messages to genuine people, not just those messing about. 20 quid for 3-6 months was well spent for me...

I'd get yourself down to a local society (badminton, wine tasting, running club etc) and meet ladies that way rather than on the net. You can assess them straight away and there are no hidden suprises. (Like my friend meeting a 6'6 hunk of a guy who turned out to be 6'6 WIDE and wasn't sporty - he just like watching sports)

I just think dating in the real world is better than cyber world.
I run an event management company, I put on events, I go to events, if I don't know anything about events - its not worth knowing!

  • A woman can ALWAYS get a man if she wants to...all she has to do is go to a bar and sit there on her own and someone will eventually approach her. So ask yourself why any even half-decent woman would join a dating site. Well, 'cos she's not really single, not serious about meeting anyone, doing it for a joke, she's a nutter, she's very unattractive or she's a gold digger. Join a club instead and don't waste your time and money on 'dating sites'.
  • bristol pilot, regarding the pub, I think the OP is looking for a partner, not a one night stand.

I know lots of people who have found partners on dating sites.

  • Sounds like Bristol_Pilot had a bad time on dating sites, as a woman myself I am neither a nutter nor a gold digger I just work too hard and don't get time to meet people outside of work. I found my current partner on the internet we've been together nearly 3 years. The website we were on was girlsdateforfree.com or loopylove.co.uk

I hope this helps you and you can find someone as special as I have

    Steph xx
