I've been to Boots today and spent £8.70 on shampoo/conditioner - saving £8.75 as it was half price.

This will go into the cupboard and be bought at £3 each, as I wouldn't normally pay £3.49 for a bottle :D

    absolutley LOVE this one
    :rotfl:

have to admit I've never tried it 'from scratch' - the closest I've ever come is the M@ M@fde tins, and that's close enough to the stuff my Grandma made that I'm happy to stick with it :D

(And having tried it here a couple of weeks ago, my fella is now hooked as well - made up his first tin of it yesterday afternoon, and was in 7th heaven all evening ;) )

Oh my, marmalade sounds so easy why have I never made it before? Well your account is rather funny *sniggers* :D, but if it's just sugar and oranges why do we buy it?

Like I said, I use the M@ M@de tins. £1.48 for the tin (from Mr T or Mr A), then 1.8kg sugar (£1.80-ish if you buy it at 99p/kg from Mr T or Mr A - though I see it around cheaper than that), plus water.

So just under £3.30 for 6lb of marmalade, which equates to 55p/lb. And it's absolutely gorgeous - knocks the spots of the Silv3r Shr3e my fella paid 99p for when it was on special offer, and IMO compares well to H@rtley's Old English which is currently on offer at £1/jar at Mr T (down from £1.48)...... and my fella agrees with me :D

My latest batch cost me a lot less than that as I'd bought the tins on a 3 for 2 offer last year (making them 99p each), and I got the sugar as 'slight spoils' through a staff shop at 10p/kg - so cost to me was under £1.20 for 6lb (or 20p/jar) which made it cheaper than the value stuff :T

My OH will now have to have shop-bought marmalade and lump it, since he used my preserving pan to mix cement in. ;) Any recommendations please ?
  • Hooray I found £5 in one of my other purses that I'd forgotten about so I've put that into my 2nd purse seeing as I need to build up my stock :).
Got 2 x packs of 18 penguins in Lido today for £2.50 and 13 Finish dishwasher tabs in Asda for £1.00 (I know they were cheaper in Lido at weekend but I couldn't get there then and checked in Poundland but they didn't have any!).
I seem to be visiting so many different shops to get my groceries now and noticed a Co-Op near Lido today which I didn't know was there and was very excited cos it means I can get their offers too now - Lol - I'm sure I didn't used to get like this when I noticed another supermarket ;)??!

Well today I bought 2 tubs of yoghurt for £3 normally £1.86 each so took £3 out of my 2nd purse, then paid it £1.68 to have the yoghurt with my breakfast. I'm sorry Riverf0rd but it really did taste nicer than your fat free one, no bitter taste. I have also paid my 2nd purse 64p for my tin of beans I had for lunch. I'm now at -£1.04 with my 2nd purse but I have £139.17 of stock :D Please note I'm not taking into account my contact lenses, e-reader, or £15 JL voucher just yet, as it's not really fair to include those when I can't afford to pay full whack for them just yet.

If you type the product into there you can look up what prices have been previously, it's an excellent tool. Type in the product in the search box and it brings up rainforest, and 2 third party boxes. It then shows you price fluctuations :) You can then compare the lowest ever price to the current price.

It also allows you to set an alert that will email you when the price drops to a certain amount. So at the moment I have an alert set for when my fabric conditioner drops below £15, although at the moment it'll cost me 1p a wash if I subscribe & save, so realllly tempted to buy now.
