Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl

I bought this on your recommendation, yes it's lovely :-)
Second only to homemade & I got the low fat yogurt version.0 -
Gianni's cornish ice cream £2.49 for 2 litres in Lidl is delicious.
It's quite funny that a German company sell cornish ice cream under an Italian brand name
A friend from work also recommended this, but I didn't rate it.
But then I like real premium ice cream & it's not fair to compare it to Hagen daiz as the price isn't similar.0 -
I normally get the Specially Selected fresh quarter pounder burgers - which are gorgeous - but thought I would give the Specially Selected frozen ones a go. They are brilliant. Great meaty taste.
Reading about Tesco, something struck me. My income hasn't changed much in the past couple of years, before our Aldi opened (and Jean opened it) we just had Tesco. I had to use a lot of their Value range products. Since Aldi opened the all-round savings mean that quite a few of the things I buy are from their Specially Selected range, which is the equivalent of Tesco's Finest.
I love the Spec. Sel. Dopiaza sauce, though the design of the jar (tall, narrow) means I always have to pour a little hot water into the jar and give it a good shake to get all the sauce out.
I do this with most jars of sauces anyway, but it's essential with these.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I went to Aldi last night and I was dreading it, but the reality was a very quiet store, only 3 other customers for the 45 minutes I was there, lots of helpful friendly staff & just about all the shelves were fully stocked.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

That's amazing, I've never seen ours as empty as that.
Yesterday, I thought I was going to have a problem as car park was packed and they'd even employed a car park attendant to help people.
In the store wasn't much busier than usual and they were keeping a careful eye on checkouts, opening extra as needed. Only problem was that there did seem to be pallets everywhere as they were filling shelves as fast as they could. I've shopped for all meals up to Christmas Eve but I have to go back on Monday for fresh veg from Wednesday onwards. Fingers crossed.;)0 -
Love the roasted cashews, and the stackers (pringles copy):p"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

The male staff at our local Aldis have been working through the night to restock shelves, as the larger supermarkets do, with some of the female staff in from 4.30 am, I discovered.
Our local store is always very quiet after 6 pm but fresh meat and veg stocks tend to be really low at this time, though not always.
For anyone making chocolatey treats for Christmas, their Everyday Essentials value price chocolate at 30p for 100g (dark, milk, white) is superior to their cooking chocolate in my opinion. Their Fairtrade chocolate is great as well.
I've tried quite a bit of the Everyday Essentials food range and have yet to find anything I wouldn't buy again.
Fruit juices, nuts, pastas, cheeses, pasta sauce, chocolate bars, bread, sponge mix, tortilla chips and porridge are fine.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again...
