Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl

  • Has anyone else found that Aldi has stopped selling Lacura foundation? The fair version was one of the only cheap foundations that actually matched my skin colour. So far I've tried Superdrug MUA and Boots Natural Collection (the lightest versions of both) but both are too dark and MUA has a very weird texture as well. I don't like to spend more than a couple of quid on a foundation (£5 at the outside) so I'm a bit stuck at the moment. Sorry, this should probably be in Health and Beauty but the thread fits.

Yes I have and their mascara, powder compact and blusher have also stopped. I mentioned it above but others still seem to have makeup in their Aldis so I assumed it must just be mine.

My cats get the aldi dry cat food as well, or home bargains or B and M, they don't mind them, its a quid a box saving on the go cat of the same size and go cat are shrinking their box sizes, mine like the aldi one, theres a posher brand from aldi that's 1.99, they love that.

I have to stay away from the mince pies, am sure last year I bought a couple of reduced price boxes and ate the lot (not in one sitting), but Ive lost a lot of weight this year so my Christmas isn't going to involve shoving mince pies in my gob. Sadly.

I wonder if the foundation is being relaunched snowleopard61?

Aldi do have a habit of withdrawing things and then bringing them back - sadly it may not be the back in the colour you liked so much.
Had a Thai Chilli and Basil 'Asia Specialties' stirfry today - these were a Specialbuy a little while ago at £1.49 for 250g, reduced to 99p. A really hot, spicy sauce but not much else beyond extra heat to recommend it - which is unusual for Aldi. Glad I didn't pay full price.

The usually available stirfry sauces in the little 125g packs are great.

I haven't had anything bad to say about Lidl until now. I made the mistake of adding their hazelnut syrup to flavour a coffee and hazelnut cake, ruined the taste completely by giving it a strange "stale" taste. I would have minded a lot less if it wasn't a birthday cake - don't try this at home, folks! I don't like sweet drinks so didn't think to try it in coffee first :o

Has anyone come across chestnut puree in either Aldi or Lidl?
