I am not asking where people live - just want to know if you are talking about Aldi or Lidl

It probably would have been better to have 2 seperate threads, one for each. Really lumping them both together is like lumping tesco & asda together.

Has anyone used Abbott & Broome Pure Soap 4x125g bars?

What is the quality like, TIA:D

We've been using the 'moisturising' one for years, and it's fine.

I always buy the white and it's fine. I once picked up the green by mistake (the packaging is very similar) and we threw it away! No comparison, it just doesn't lather up the same.

Thanks for quick replies just looking to fill my £40 shop for the £5 off:money:

Have only just started visiting Aldi (it's a bit further from home) but impressed so far... Particularly like :

    houmous (65p ish)
    pitta bread (49p I think)
    toasting muffins (4 for 45p)
    free range eggs (£1)
bought some lovely brisket there - was a bit nervous about buying meat but this is fabulous
    porridge oats
    the small snickers type bars

    Lidl :
    yoghurts
    smoked salmon
    part baked bread rolls
    Bellarom chocolate
    dried herbs
    tiramisu (packs of 2)
Sick and tired of waking up sick and tired...

I buy the sliced stuff with the gold crown symbol which shows it is made in the traditional manner - no preservatives, just pork legs and salt. Lidl has Parma ham (prosciutto) cheaper than Sainsbury's etc.

Most organic ham and bacon has nitrates to keep the colour (bacon without nitrate looks grey) so we prefer the prosciutto as we'd rather not eat them. We cut in slices and grill then snack or crumble for sauces and salads. We also wrap slices of prosciuttp straight from the packet around chicken legs before roasting mmm. OH likes prosciutto-Mozzarella-basil butties or prosciutto-Leerdammer cheese-mustard butties as well.

I agree - we like the sliced stuff too - just thought the joints would be similar and be a nice treat for the Christmas period - they are not the same, not nice at all and to be avoided - an expensive mistake!!

I remember buying some of Aldi's prosciutto for a recipe and then going to Waitrose for something else. I couldn't believe my eyes when the exact same branded pack was in Waitrose (got it out of my bag to compare) but of course far more expensive!

I am not impressed with Aldi's ready meals. Had the cottage pie and the mash was cloying in the mouth and the mince just tasted of salt!

Can't say I've really tried ready meals, generally buy basic ingredients for home cooking.

DH does like Thai style fishcakes though and I'm thinking of trying the frozen, stuffed ducks. Do they they count as a ready meal?
