Aldi have the posh pasta special buys back, including the really nice Reginette (like narrow strips of lasagne). Bargain at 89p.
They also have some bread mixes at 69p on special buy - anyone tried them?
I think this is the same Wright's bread mix as previous Specialbuys, it's just that the packaging is different.
In which case, we've tried the focaccia and the ciabatta on Specialbuy before, and they were very good. HTH.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... For some reason I struggle to find quality vegetables in Aldi, Lidl has a bit better, especially tomatoes. Still I wouldn't buy bananas in neither Aldi nor Lidl although I shop quite often in Lidl. £0.68/kg is the same price as in Sainsbury's and I find a better quality bananas in there.0

Buy your bananas in M&S if you can.
The best quality longer lasting bananas I have ever brought, better than Sainsbury's and they sell them for 68p kilo loose. The more I live, the more I learn.

Just gone to the end of this thread and read the last few post and all I read was nothing to do with "Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl"
No wonder the thread is so flipping long......RANT OVER
I thought this was a forum, not a listing site.
I see you are new. Get used to it. It's the same on all the threads. The more I live, the more I learn.

Chocolate from Aldi is always great!
I'm not sure I agree. Aldi used to sell a Belgian milk chocolate under its Choceur label which was a very high quality product at an excellent price. It has now dropped it and sells a cheaper quality instead, made heaven knows where. Its 'up market' Moser Roth milk chocolate is, to my mind, of a poorer quality and over-packaged, presumably in an attempt to make it looks somehow special.0 -
I bought some triple sec (orange liqueur) called "Le Roi Des Oranges". It was less than half the price of Cointreau.
For a very good reason, as it turns out.
Cointreau is sharp, made from the zest of real oranges, whereas "Le Roi Des Oranges" tastes like naff orange squash with a shot of unspecified alcohol (probably grain spirit).
It may useful for cooking though I suspect I will just throw it out.
However, their Calvados and Pastis (when available) is excellent.

New Orleans roast chicken is a good choice.0

I've noticed that the free range chicken has disappeared recently. Anyone else still have it in their stores? It's a shame, as it was much cheaper than Sainsbury's, and the last couple of times I've bought Sainsbury's it's been really chewy!0

No, still got FR chicken in the store I went to last night.0
