They've had that for quite a while now. Just checked some meat I've got in the freezer bought about six months ago and that's tagged too. No different to any other supermarket then. Unfortunately shoplifters don't discriminate where they steal from.

Too true. I have a Savers shop in my high street and they security tag the Lynx body sprays.

Think it may be due to the fact the town's university is just around the corner. You know, poor students, no money, so lets just nick it!

Lidl currently have Ceramic Frying pans (smallish £7.99 and largish £9.99). Not tried mine yet, but it looks good.

Also wooden chopping boards for £3.99. Choice of large oval, large rectangular with metal handle and a twin pack of small ovals (that are more serving plates than chopping boards).

Do you think so? My suspicion is that it's likely to be an intermediary that then sells on to students at rock bottom prices for 100% profiit.

Also Aldi choc-ices (8 packs) do not taste good. I'm not keen on their tubs of ice-cream either, shall be sticking to Carte D'Or in future.

Just to add that I nipped out to Sainsbo's earlier as my fruit bowl was empty and I didn't have time to get to Lidl. (The local fruit stall met most of my needs for years; I then swapped to Lidl for the more perishable produce when I realised it lasts longer).

It's been a long time since I routinely bought fruit from Sainsbos on account of its lack of ripeness, and cost. Even so I was shocked at the both the insipid look, and price of everything, esp melons, pineapples and soft fruit. The only items I would say are comparable in cost to Lidl were the bananas and grapes (these were in offer). Neither of which I needed or bought.

Not just students on the rob.. Have had a middle aged (and rather drunk) lady, come round the pub, offering people some defrosted bits of meat, she'd slipped under her coat..!

Maybe you have a point but the 2 other Savers in my town don't do this, so it must have something to do with the university clientele on some level.

Don't be ridiculous, students don't know what body spray is, why would they nick it ?
  • I saw 7 or 8 police officers pinning down a man outside Aldi last week. Looked like he had a whole backpack full of stolen goodies. oopsie!

Have Aldi upgraded to CCTV now? There used to be one security guard patrolling the aisles at my local, but he's nowhere to be seen anymore.

Ours certainly has CCTV, though has never had a security guard.
