  • Aldi have improved the recipe on their Ginger Nut biscuits. Previously they were pale, vaguely gingerish smooth discs and fairly soft. Not a Nut.
Now they are a proper dark ginger colour, have the cracked tops that Ginger Nuts should have, are very crisp, crunchy and definitely spicy. Yay! Still only 25p too.

Lidl - Delighted to announce that the large Greek snail shaped Pies (frozen special in Greek Week) now have no more hydrogenated fats. Not made with olive oil as I would do them myself but definitely a step forward. DD2 just has nostalgic cravings for those as she had them on her birthdays when she was younger ;)

Thanks for the info. Stopped buying them when they changed to the smooth flat discs as they reminded me of a cheap version you can get in another shop.

I was buying them from Lidl.

Will pop one in my shopping basket the next time I'm in Aldi and give them a try.

Are you mad? So delicious, fruity and nutty....I could go on.

Tastes even better RTC after Crimbo though.

  • I am a Stollen fan too, though I can understand why people don't like it. Until a few years ago Aldi's standard Stollen was made in Soest, a lovely medieval town that was the location of my first Aldi. This was when I lived in Germany, some 35 years ago. Ah, nostalgia.

    Lidl applicator tampons.

Not got on well with these at all. The applicator is hard to push through and the grooves to hold the applicator are not deep enough to get a good grip. Wont be buying again.

I thought they were ok, but it's the only generic one I have bought so expected a product that wasn't quite as, ahem "ergonomic" (usually stock up on the brand leader when on offer).

The Lidl Deluxe crisps are lovely, nice and fat-laden. Not heavily flavoured mind, but the S&V reminds me of chips I used to dowse with vinegar from the fish & chip takeaway. Am relishing them as we speak - sans G&T - as I stopped eating fish 15 years ago.
