  • I was absolutely gutted to discover my favourite Jaffa cakes ever are no more at Lidl:mad:
i was looking and looking yesterday for the distinctive Orange packet, and it finally dawned that they had been replaced by a mc cities copy. I hate mc cities Jaffa cakes. Aargh..

Can't believe these have gone. They were by far the best Jaffa cakes, even superior to the M&S ones and of course much cheaper.

Also, my favourite frozen fishcakes have dissapeared from aldi. There were two types, Thai Salmon and Hake ones:o

Give the Aldi Jaffa Cakes a try. My DH has tried all the other versions and swears these are the best. 99p! Not a lot to lose either if they don't tickle your taste buds.

Agree with Aldi Jaffa cakes being even better than McVities.

But came to post that I cooked the beef joint today that was on offer before Easter at approx £5/kg. Well, what can I say! I cooked it medium rare and it was absolutely melt in the mouth. Can't recall the last time I enjoyed a beef joint for twice the price!

Had to try Specially Selected Plum Crumble Tart from Aldi, having spotted it in the Specially Selected list on the website. Absolutely delicious - serves 4-6 for £1.49.

Unfortunately Aldi 99p Brie has been absent from 2 local stores for the past 3 weeks. Luckily, the Camembert is an excellent and compensatory 89p.

And in late-breaking news, my town is getting a Lidl. :T

I bought a five blade razor in Aldi in January. What's really frustrating is that the razor seems very good - I'm still using the first set of blades that I started using in January and they are still going. However, the product immediately disappeared from their stores, so I can't buy replacement blades. I have the second set of blades that were in the pack I bought, and then that's that. I'd very much like to go on using it. I hope that the ASDA five blade razor is just as good - when I get around to having a go with it.

Tried the lasagne from Aldi and you could really tell the difference from decent ready meals and homemade lasganes. The consistency was very sloppy.

However tried the individual rump steaks and they were superb!

Cooked the Aldi Extra Special 4 Bird Roast that i got a couple of weeks ago with the money off voucher from The Mirror. It was delicious, i'll definitely buy it again.

Popped in again today to pick up a few bits, bought a single duvet cover for my daughters room, it was marked £6.99 but scanned at £5.19 !! Bargain :)

Same happened with Tom puree was gone for nearly two month.

Yeah I remember that. Now they have tons of the stuff. I'm using that as a replacement, I do prefer the taste of puree anyway and it keeps sauces thicker IMO.

The Aldi £1.95 cat food has rebranded to 'Essentials' from just 'Vitacat'. Not sure if the contents have changed, sure I checked and they look the same.

SOmeone mentioned Aldi lasagne, if you mean the 69p frozen ready meal, it is very sloppy and tasteless. Much better from other supermarkets in the value range, but I still buy it due to limited ready meal choices.

The chill cabinet (rather than frozen) Aldi lasagne is pretty good -

The Sonday Jaffa Cakes are still there! They've just changed the packet. They're still exactly the same. Got 2 packs a few weeks ago on the Half Price Weekend and can confirm they haven't changed at all. By far the nicest Jaffa Cakes out there - far better than McVities or the Aldi ones (or any other I've had).

Yes, I agree. I was rather puzzled upon reading an earlier comment that it was sloppy and tasteless as the Cucina brand in the chiller cabinet is far from being either. It's one of the better ready made lasagnes I've tasted.
