Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl

I bought a five blade razor in Aldi in January. What's really frustrating is that the razor seems very good - I'm still using the first set of blades that I started using in January and they are still going. However, the product immediately disappeared from their stores, so I can't buy replacement blades. I have the second set of blades that were in the pack I bought, and then that's that. I'd very much like to go on using it. I hope that the ASDA five blade razor is just as good - when I get around to having a go with it.
The same goes for a relative who bought their electric toothbrush. They can only buy the heads when the toothbrush is on a special buy.
With the few special buys that requires a bit replacing every now and again, Aldi would get more sales of these products if they sell these all year round, placing these at the checkouts. Or let customers to order them when they ring the careline.
If they don't want to sell these all year round, they should ditch these. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

The toothbrush heads are inter-changeable with other market brands. Not sure about razor heads as I've not got an Aldi one, but I can use a wide range of both men's and women's blades on a Gillette handle. I'll have a look at the Aldi handle when I'm next in store.0 -
Been to Aldi.
No passata at my store either.
No chilli halloumi, only plain.
Plus noticed a large gap about freezer wide on the shelf above, to the end of the aisle. The last item was their pot noddles. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Wooooooo! Found mascapone today in Aldi. Cheaper than Lidl too. I hope they keep it as a line as the things which Aldi don't stock on my regular needs list is growing smaller...Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

No, but if you can feed 4 people from the £1.49 Lasgane at Aldi, then your either very mean or your family have small appetites :-)0 -

It seems you're talking about a different brand of lasagne. The one in Aldi chiller cabinet will easily feed 4 people (250g portion each) when you add in salad, and costs £2.49 not £1.49.0 -
Don't bother with Aldi's own Fruit & Fibre cereal, I've just bought a packet and it is the worst cereal I've ever had!!! Completely tasteless and very little fruit. I'm going back to the Tesco own brand which is only a few pence dearer but far better quality.
I also think their fresh garlic baguettes from the fridge are the best I've had, and at 35p you can't complain!!!:j Comping on & off since 31/08/12 :beer:I comp for fun... and to kill the boredom!0 -
Yep, I've had it before. It's quite nice. Not as sweet as Kelloggs, but that's probably a good thing.
I take all of these "worst Aldi/Lidl product ever" claims with a huge pinch of salt.
There is a very devious bit of human nature that insists there must be a nasty, hidden reason why Aldi/Lidl are cheaper. There is no secret - they are smaller stores with fewer products and fewer staff, it's plain for everyone to see.0
