Most of the weird brands in Aldi & Lidl are actually own brand. Look for the shop name & logo on the back of the product.

The Harbour Co is nothing to do with Aldi, it's a brand in its own right and is stocked in most supermarkets, although it's much cheaper in Aldi. At least £1 a pack cheaper!

  • Aldi's Torchon Ham - fine tasting stuff, and Aldi's version of Mars Bars (forgotten the name as not bought them for a while!).

Love them but they used to be so much bigger - they are almost funsize now!!
Food and Smellies Shop target £50 pw - managed average of £49 per week in 2013 down to £38.90 per week in 2016

It won't perhaps come as any great surprise to Aldi shoppers, but if you check out the little code that has to be shown on all butter sold in packs in the UK you'll find that Aldi Greenvale salted butter has the same FP046 code as Country Life (Gower View Foods creamery in Wales).

    Aldi - 89p
    Country Life - £1.25+

Same ingredients (milk/cream with 2% added salt) - same butter.

Just had the 28 day aged Sirloin steaks for dinner this evening. Absolutely divine and so thick you could almost imagine it was fillet steak. All washed down with a lovely bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape costing less than £10 a bottle! :D

DD2 wanted to try the frozen meal loaf (Aldi). I thought it was far too salty and the onion sauce is pure starch and bland, I'm not sure I detected any onions in there...Will not buy it again. We still have a Lidl's special offer meatloaf in the freezer, I hope that will be better.
All varieties of Aldi peas are now 907 grams packets. Cheaper though than the 1 kg I think.

  • Just bought the mini fryer for £16.99 and is really good. It holds more than you think. I did enough chips in there for 2 adults.
