No longer. Changed to boring stuff on Thursday :(
Yeah, sorry about that and you're right it is boring. Never mind.

  • With so many people switching their supermarket swap over to Aldi from one of the ‘big’ supermarkets I thought it would be handy to put together a what to buy in Aldi list along with a few notes on what not to buy in Aldi. These are just a few of our favourite must-haves which we tend to add to our shopping list on a regular basis and of course this is all down to our personal tastes

    Humour intended or unintended????

For me, it's not so much a question of what is good, and what is not, but which parts of the store have sufficient variety to allow me to get what I want, and potentially have a choice as well.

These areas are well-stocked with choice, and keenly priced, too...

    - Breakfast Cereal
    - Fresh Meat & (to a lesser extent) fresh fish
    - Frozen fish
    - Deli
    - Cold Meat
    - Cheese
    - Yogurt/Desserts
    - Canned Fish
    - Biscuits, Muesli bars & Chocolate
    - Crisps
    - Cleaning products
    - Wine
    - Pasta (fresh & dried) and rice

Carrots in Lidl down to 55p kg from 65p, though was on offer a week or two ago for 50pkg.
Bottles vinegar 5% now 21p. Twice that price in Sains.

I really don't like Aldi roll on deodorant - why don't I remember that every time I buy it having forgotten I don't like it till I come to use it!!!

You have to stand it upside down on its lid as it has a stupid sloping base so that all the liquid runs to the ball and gloops all over the place when you use it. Hate that and end up wasting loads of it. I then have to prop it up against something so the lid is uppermost to stop the ball being overloaded.

Back to Morrisons, their basics roll on is dirt cheap and absolutely adequate!

I used to shop half and half in Sainsbury's/Aldi but now I rarely go anywhere but Aldi for my weekly shop. I still buy odd bits in Farmfoods, Iceland and meat from various places including Asda and mostly on the 3 for £10 or similar offers.

    In Aldi I buy:
flowers (although disappointed recently too many naff 'bouquets')
    porage oats
    wholemeal bread
    pain au lait
    straight to wok noodles
    rice
    passata
    tomato puree
    straight to wok noodles
    pilau rice
    spaghetti
    mushy peas
    red beans
    tinned tomatoes
    fruit & veg
    FR chickens
    gammon joints
    chicken portions (breasts/thighs)
    tunnock type biscuits
    cranberry & choc cookies
    70% chocolate
    washing up liwuid
    softener
    washing powder/liquid
    dishwasher tablets
    bleach
    torchon ham
    frankfurters
    mature cheddar
    cottage cheese
    FF yogurt
    crème fraiche
    anchovies
    stuffing mix
    pickles
    mustard
    antipasti
    orange juice
    Thai fishcakes
    oven chips
    peas
    herbs
    spices
    eggs
    milk
    cornflour
    brown sugar
    Cremant de Loire

    I think that's about it.:)
  • Our local Aldi has big (42 wash) bottles of their clothes washing liquid for £1.69.

    Seems to be decent stuff.

Hopefully is the same in other stores.

Pretty much everything we need - with a monthly trip to Waitrose for the few items that Aldi don't stock. No need for anywhere else! :)

El Tequito Hot Salsa Dip 300g for 59 or 69p ? at Lidl. Really good. I use it for burritos and quesadilas as well as a dip. Good ingredients too. Very similar to El Paso.
