Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl

I think the only one that is cheaper for 15 is Asda (£2.00) but I don't have an Asda near me. I guess I could walk on my lunchbreak but that will take the whole hour - I guess it's good exercise though but to save 19p I don't know if it's worth it! £2.40 at Tesco and Sainsburys.
Thanks for the suggestion thoughMy debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |
Total £4151.44 | £2900.30 of £7051.74 paid off since diary started October 2024.0 -
I always buy Clarence Court Burford Brown eggs, They are darned expensive at £2.15 for 6, but the yolks are orange. They are genuine free range. I recently couldn't get them, Morrisons had run out, so bought "The Happy Egg" or something like that. Obvious difference in the colour of the yolk. We used them in pancake mix, and even though we used more than usual they didn't have that eggy taste that you get with a true free range egg.0

I buy from a local hen keeper where I can see that they are truly free range and pay just 10p per egg.0

Apologies if this should be on a different thread but if you really like the eggy taste - try duck eggs if you can get hold of any.First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -

Apologies againbut I am surprised how they can charge so little with feeding costs where they are...I have to ask people for 20 p per egg or I may as well give them away for free :rotfl:. You are lucky to have a generous hen keeper near you!
There are serious doubts about where all those free range eggs are coming from in all the shops. Whittingstall made a program about it a few years back and apparently free range means the birds "could" go outside if they were told where the flap is and that they can use it :rotfl:. Not many do as they are too scared. Caged is no longer legal in Britain or even Europe I think, so where do poundland's eggs come from I wonder?? Usually it's "Barn kept".First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -

I'd also be very suspicious of 'free range' eggs being sold at 10p each - even at the farm gate. That price doesn't cover costs.
There's a place near here selling what appear to be fresh farm eggs (people go there thinking they're precisely that). What they never see is the large lorry containing battery farmed eggs that turns up very early in the morning every few days.
Still, maybe they're feeding those eggs to hens hidden round the back somewhere? :rotfl:0 -

It's great quality and really very good, the last two tins I have used have been more like coconut cream than coconut milk. I can't remember what it costs now, - 69p, 79p ? - but it's in a 400ml tin.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I was delighted yesterday to see that Lidl now also has Venison sausages, same price as Aldi's (£ 1.99). I wish they'd also bring back the legs of lamb...First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0

I use their Carino Natural Light Brown hair colour which is brilliant - it's 100ml, which is far too much for my short, fine hair. I pour out 25 ml each of colour and developer into a plastic bowl, mix it and use it that way.
Not many shampoo reviews, I will be looking at using their shampoos at some stage. (I've been using up my toiletries stash so haven't bought any in years, literally).
Has anyone tried their shampoos and conditioners? I have a pink and black L'Oreal conditioner looky likey they did a while ago but that hasn't been in store for a while.
Aldi do Herbal Essences, Tresemme and L'Oreal Elvive looky likeys as well as lower priced family shampoos, any views would be welcome.
Hello
This week I've just started using Aldi Carino Raspberry Shampoo 400ml 65p, https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/product-range/health-beauty/carino-hair-care/carino-hair-care-product-detail-page/ps/p/shampooconditionerr/ its nice, my hair was "squeaky" which I believe means its cleaned it well and my hair feels just the same as when I was using my old shampoo which was Herbal Essences.
ETA
I was able to pay by credit card on Thursday, about time too!Don't wait for your ship to come in, swim out to it.0 -
From Aldi...
I like the shampoo that looks like L'Oreal (I think).
They didn't have any last time, and I got some blue herbal shampoo, which isn't that good, I don't think.0
