Aldi 's crusty load bread mix. rises quickly and makes great bread!"if the state cannot find within itself a place for those who peacefully refuse to worship at its temples, then it’s the state that’s become extreme".Revd Dr Giles Fraser on Radio 4 20170

their chilled chocolate profiteroles are absolutely lovely, come in packs and two where the yogurts are.
my mums loves their bagged mixed leaf salad and also their flavoured fresh salmon - I think there is a chilli one. Their plain salmon fillets are nice too.
didn't like their cream crackers though - not the right texture, will stick to jacobs.0 -
Jacobs are the best but so pricey now,i find the Lidl cream crackers a little "lardy".0

Aldi Specially Selected wheat crackers are nice, as are their version of Ryvita. The Ryvita equivalent is much, much cheaper than the real thing.
It used to be that my Aldi/Lidl purchases were 10p or 20p cheaper than elsewhere, but I'm now seeing prices half as much as elsewhere, or better.0 -
Lidl yogurts , the huge buckets of Greek yogurt are absolutely delicious , their versions of muller light lovely and creamy and at 31p a pot best value without having to buy loads to get the offer price , the 27p pots of fruit yogurt are so nice and creamy with plenty of fruit bits.
Lidl Italian week this week so have bought a few bits to try.
Glad this thread is back on the main forum now BTW.0 -
As well as the Ryvita type crispbreads, I can't tell the difference between Aldi's oatcakes and Nairn's. The flavoured rice cakes are lovely, though the salt and vinegar ones have a very strong flavour. The chocolate and yogurt coated rice cakes are also much cheaper than elsewhere.
Hot drinks: I tried the Aldi instant mocha sachets (with the tea & coffee) the other week and liked them, though best in a smallish mug otherwise they taste watery. The minty light hot chocolate is rather nice too. Diplomat Gold teabags are the nearest thing that I've found to Yorkshire Tea (which Aldi also sell). The Colombian coffee is lovely.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
sorry if this is wrong place to ask, but I didn't want to start a thread to ask..
does anyone know how much Lidl's 6 pack of tinned cat food is?
Ar$da and Mr T's have decided to put their prices back up lol..Work to live= not live to work0 -
Usually shop for basics in Lidl but it's closed for renovation, so giving Aldi a go.
Aldi digestives - don't like the taste, seem very dry.
Aldi Oaties - Tasty and nice.
I won't be buying either again as I realised when I got them home that they have Palm Oil in them - bad for your health (especially cholesterol) as high in saturated fats I think. Pity cos the Oaties were nice.

That's a good point but I think baked beans were a bit cheaper when Jack wrote the book.
I think the best value way is to cook dried pulses and freeze them but that's such a faff. I love butter beans but I'd go without rather than pay the prices some shops charge. Looking at mysupermarket, they're meant to be on offer in Morrisons.
If you have Home Bargains near you, they sell chick peas, etc much cheaper than Aldi. 3 tins for £1.Lic.0 -
