I'm going into Lidl's today to get the German Ham on offer. It's not Parma or Serrano (they stock Serrano, too) as it's thicker sliced but lovely.. We've been buying it since Lidl opened.First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0

Dear Freinds
About 4 months ago we had a new aldi store open and purchased lots of stuff many days - mainly as its only 4 mins from our house hear in wolverhampton
However over the last 3-4 weeks there seems to be a growing trend that stock is either very low or not avalible
ranged with issues are dried cerial cakes buscuits crackers and tins
vegatable can be sold out - bread is out of date that day or not it stock
but the biggest issue is frozen range, they are running freezers empty not for a day or so its was empty for well over a week
they had signs up saying due to circumstances beyond out control we cannot offer a full offering sorry etc....
this has been going on for well over 2 weeks - over stock level is in my opinion running at about 60% capcity in fact the you can see more shelf that goods in places,
is this just out store or is in all over ( have they opened too many stores ) without incresing the buying side - if the products not their we cannot buy it
also i noticed that smaller aldi stores seem the have smaller ranges and higher prices on some items (is this a new policy or aldi too)
any thoughts cheers0 -
A lot depends on the local management and staff shortages, preventing a proper stock provision policy. Smaller stores will always have less range - there's less shelf space.0

davetech not seen any of what you describe when I was in Aldi the other week, re the out of date products it could well be staff shortages.0

out of date that day, not out of date in fact they where taking a huge pallet of bread back in the warehourse, as i pulled a loaf from them and it had the same date on so could have been surplus but there was a lot0 -

they seem well staffed, they just dont seem to have the stock - yeah this is a smaller store but the shelfs are near empty - there is always plenty of special buys though - even has a specail 50% off special buys event a put loads of stuff outside with a member of staff to watch over them, along with fillers and 5 checkout staff running, so they are not sort
i think in area's there are too many shops to supply and they spread the stock more thin, needless to say i found myseld going next door to iceland for frozen chips and peas
don't get me wroung, i love aldi, but the standards have droped of late,0 -
Have any newer stores opened in the area? If there are any shortfalls priority is always given to the new store for obvious reasons.0

The other day, I went into Aldi and bought stuff to fill two bags of life. There was a board of fresh items to be put out. I visited a few more shops (not parked in Aldi's carpark) and went back in as forgot two items. This was 45-50 mins later and the same board of fresh food was still out!! About a third of the lines on the board were loaded on the chillers in that time. The guy working on the board was on the checkouts.
No wonder that food gets mouldy before the date and clearly breaking food handling practices. I wish I took photos as they have a time stamp.
Trading Standards and the media would love that.
Why can't Aldi use small rollers like other supermarkets use and not to use that colleague to go on the tills? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
