Good and bad buys from Aldi and Lidl

The breakneck speed that Aldi staff put things through the till might have something to do with it.
I have seen posted elsewhere that the staff have a time limit of how many items they need to scan through (it's the same with other supermarkets), and if they don't meet the criteria then their pay is docked.
Hence the speed they shove the items through the till, and the codes they need to enter for items that change each week, more mistakes are bound to happen.
They pay well but you have to work hard and are on all the time.0 -
definitely a 'good' buy, the long sliced smoked salmon......not as much as in the other pack - but the taste!!!!!!!!!!! its gorgeous! very strong so a little goes a long way! That's from Aldi btw.0

bluddy well cant be with Adsa or Tresco - by the time they slowly pass it through and then comment on it..............or cant find the barcode.................or PLU................then have the inane 'Do you need bags? Can I help you with your bagging?
contrast with Aldi or Lidl where items are scanned faster - the checkout operator doesn't examine each item minutely...........give me aldi every time! and I have only ONCE in years found a mistake. but my local stores are really good!0 -
One of the girls in my local Aldi said they have a target of 1000 items per hour, I don't know how true this is.
Mine is a new store, only opened this year and I haven't been overcharged. I did buy some chicken, I got home and was putting it in the fridge and realised it was out of date, and by a good few days! They swapped it no problem.0 -

1000 items per hour is a stiff target - am guessing this is a team target for the whole store and opposed to any one individual. How does this relate to queue management? My experience is that whenever a queue starts to build at Aldi, a multi-taster hops onto another.
Not so at Lidl.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I remember when I was young all the cashiers had to know all the prices of any item Aldi was selling - no computerised item scanners then. It was a demanding job as they also had to be fast to keep their jobs!First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0

No no, I can get this; my OH is a dedicated "multi-taster" !
Not just at Aldi, or Lidl though.
Very little from either Aldi OR Lidl has upset his digestion to date!
