    I've been Money Tipped!
    Another product I don't like.

Tissues from both Aldi and Lidl. Scratchy, hard and not the "Softy" the brand claims it is. I don't rate any supermarkets own brand tissue-nothing touches Kleenex IMO.

    Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker
    6 cans of Coca-Cola was £1.99 now £1.98

It's normally £2.19 for the Coca-Cola and has been for ages but was brought down to £1.99 on sale about 2 months ago.

I understand your point but the fact that they've knocked an extra penny off rather than put the price back up weeks ago like most other supermarkets makes me just love 'em even more.

I watch Aldi's prices very closely and in the past couple of years I've seen absolutely nothing to make me worry. If anything, a lot of the stuff I buy is even cheaper now than it was in 2012.

I appreciate all the reasons for the checkout speeds at Aldi, having shopped there for years, but you know things are going too far when you find on your receipt that they've overcharged quite substantially.

One item - two purchased - four put through the till
Another item - one purchased - two put through the till
Vouchers taken for both, but no discounts given.

It's beyond a joke now - having to cross-check every till receipt to check there are no duplications or 'strange' items just added on. I'm a big fan of Aldi (and Lidl) but this overcharging simply doesn't happen anywhere other than Aldi, and it's likely to cause serious reputational damage if the press latch onto it.

Check your receipts carefully to see what might have been added on by an overenthusiastic checkout operator. I'm not in any way suggesting it's deliberate, but it's happening far too often for them to ignore the problem.

Agree from previous personal experience but on recent large Aldi shops where I've checked, its been OK.

Perhaps the newer, larger Aldis have more up to date tills that can cope better with the throughput of the items?

Meanwhile, the overcharging continues at my Aldi, on a pretty regular basis, and it's all well and good making refunds when customers spot it, but it just shouldn't be happening at all.

There's even an ongoing MSE thread on it here, and I'm sure there are others elsewhere:

That thread is now talking about Aldi's back end system double charging for the whole bill, so double receipt amount. That made national news, thought that had been fixed. Above I thought we were talking about individual items being double counted or phantom ones appearing.
Perhaps it happens with other supermarket chains but Aldi's customers check more often!

The plants in my local Aldi are only good on delivery day, too. They are a terrible advert for the store, as they're placed right outside the front entrance.

The way they treat plants makes me want to weep! Although, they're not alone, and watering costs staff time - I guess it's a trade off.

That thread did originally relate to the double charging that made the headlines last March, but it moved on from there and people have been posting more recent examples of charging for phantom items, in addition to charging more than once for the same item.

    As someone sarcastically posted there:

"Not so much cheaper than Tesco now are we :p"

I can honestly put hand on heart and say I've never been overcharged by Aldi and I shop there every week. There was one time I was actually undercharged by £12 for two tops I bought that the checkout girl scanned through together as a single item.

The breakneck speed that Aldi staff put things through the till might have something to do with it.
