Went to lidl today. They had loose cherries at £5 per kilo. A young child was busy scooping them up, putting them in a bag, squashing them and tipping them back out. I didn't buy any.
Good night for reductions. Big section in the freezer 30% off. BB4 14/6.
Got steak mince, lamb chops, steak and meatballs.
Also bought a pulled pork it was £3.49. But its the weekend offer. Before I buy 6 I wanted to see if they were any good. They were so husband will be sent shopping on Sat morning.
    Also love their squirty cream.
    Marscapone also really good.

Next time I'm going to try the southern fried chicken steaks, I'm intrigued now!

Don't get too excited - they aren't great.

Then again, I think the Bird's Eye ones are crap too. I just don't like the taste of the coating in this or Aldi's one.

I've read that you can buy a pack or bucket of southern fried chicken pieces which are as nice as KFC in Aldi so I will try that at some point (but am very dubious). But the SF chicken steaks aren't a patch on KFC / Miss Millies etc taste-wise. If you like the Bird's Eye ones though you might think the Aldi ones okay.

I preferred the plain ones in the same range personally - the quality of the "meat" is fine and the coating is pretty nondescript but nice enough for the price. You can't really go wrong at £1.50 for 4 portions.

Anyways, give 'em a try and post your opinions on here, it's always good to hear different points of view and I wouldn't want to put anyone off trying anything just because I didn't like it (except Lidl's cheap sausages which are hands down the most disgusting things I can remember eating from any shop in years).

The Southern fried chicken in the chiller section is very very good - according to my OH. I don't like them, but then I don't like KFC either.
I think they cost around £2.99 for about 8 -9 pieces of chicken. I usually cook him 3 pieces then portion the rest up and freeze.

Bought some of the Lidl sesame crispbreads to try as Aldi have not had them in for weeks and they were disappointing with no flavour and you cannot even see the sesame seeds on them never mind taste them. That same day my Mum called to say Aldi have them back in stock! Agggh!

The loose cherries were on a very tempting low level at my Lidl too, plenty of kids fingering and sampling the goods there too!

Logging on to add that I tried the Dentalux toothpaste and found it tasteless, thin and made my teeth feel dirtier rather than cleaner after using. Back to pound stores for Colgate me thinks.
