Regarding the branding. Poundland et al already researched and found that customer reaction is always better with their ersatz 'brands' rather than using a 'Poundland' brand.

In the case of Poundland, I'm hardly surprised.

Aldi, though, is finally getting an excellent reputation for quality food and products and I doubt many would turn their noses up if everything was "rebranded" with the Aldi logo.

I've offered things out at work and noses were turned up as some weren't familiar with the products. As soon as I said they were from Aldi, the general response was "cool, thanks", generally followed by a "phwoar, this is nice".

Can't see anything changing but I for one would be happier with just the Aldi branding. Whatever, though, as long as they keep selling quality stuff at great prices, I'm not going to moan about it.

Not sure - if that were the case, why the need for the higher end range?

Higher margins - as with the high end ranges of pretty much all the other supermarkets.

I and few others have this issue with Alidi fruit and veg not lasting.

Would definitely recommend Lidl Vine tomatoes on offer this weekenf for 89p kg or the family sized net prices varies £1.19 to £1.59.
They last for up to 2 weeks and taste and feel like a tomato should.:T

Aldi's satsumas/clementines are a no for me. Either sour, bitter, dry or full of pips.

My parents don't buy kiwis there as they are like bullets even a week after buying.

I have just decided I am not going to buy anymore fresh fruit/veg from Aldi's. I have just thrown out a pack of salad and pack of spinach both dated 11 June which when I opened tonight were horrible - really soggy, sticking together and soft. I have had problems with mushrooms, tomatoes, bananas and other stuff in the past. I may have to pay a bit more at one of the bigger supermarkets but their stuff does seem to keep better. It's not a bargain if it's cheaper but ends up being thrown away ....

It seems to depend very much on the branch ( and the same in Lidl ) as to wether the f&v is very good or very bad. Different handling/storage within the branch ?
Have you made any comments to the manager? If no-one tells them of the problems they arent going to change

I prefer them that way. Tend to find that Asda's 75p (6 pack) offer more value - medium to hard.

I thought kiwis were meant to be eaten 'hard'? if they go soft they are disgusting.

Managed to find the sandwich thins today, but couldn't find the pulled pork. Is it in the fridge section with the cooked meat ?

My aldi had filled hanging baskets today for £3.99. Will be getting a couple at the weekend.

aldi pulled pork is next to the meat section (ie chilled)in my aldi in a cardboard wrapper over a foil tray. There is also a similar thing with spare ribs but I wasn't keen on that as no meat on it. HTH
