I thought kiwis were meant to be eaten 'hard'? if they go soft they are disgusting.
Aldi's kiwis are so hard that you cannot cut them in half! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Managed to back two waguy ribeye steaks from Aldi before work this morning - very excited about having those this weekend! Also, partner is in Liverpool where there are still some bay trees for £15 so I'll have me one of them, they sold out straight away in London. Yay!0

I went to a big Aldi in Coventry today, ten minutes after they opened.
There were only two rib-eye Wagyu steaks left in a pack of around ten, plus two empty boxes that used to contain around ten sirloins and rumps.
So they were there, but had gone.
On to another Aldi in a poorer part of Coventry, where there were just two sirloins left at 8.30 am. And again just remnants left of rib-eye and rump of the only three boxes that were on sale.
However, what I found in both shops, was that there was a much larger display of other steaks than usual, and I assume the marketing ploy is advertise Wagyu, and have maybe just 30 steaks per store. When the disappointed punters come in any time after opening, you flog them some other steak with a better profit margin.
It certainly worked for me, as I bought two nice looking, 21 day aged sirloins for about £4.50 each.0 -

I'm new to posting in this thread but have been slowly working my way through the many pages! I took a trip to my local Aldi (Gateshead) today to buy some cupboard essentials and ended up spending £28! Nearly £9 was on alcohol though! Bought some bits to try so I'm excited to give them a go and report back.
So far I really like their cherry peppers stuffed with cream cheese in a herb sauce which come in a jar (£1.99). Nearly bought the fresh type for a little less but thought these were a better deal as they'd last longer. Not cheap but really tasty!
Their light mozzarella for 44p is a really good deal too as Tesco's cheapest is around 50p, full fat and doesn't have a lot of taste.
I was also impressed by their light latte machiatto (iced coffee drink in chiller) which was only 49p! Most supermarkets sell these for atleast 99p each which is crazy because they're only coffee, milk and sugar! Wish I'd stocked up to stop me being tempted by Starbucks and Costa who sell similar for around £3 a drink!
I was disappointed that they didn't have wholemeal/brown pasta or rice at my branch. Do most Aldi's stock these?
How are their southern fried chicken products? Mostly the 4 Rooster chicken steaks for £1.50 if anyone knows. I usually buy Birds Eye chicken.0 -
200g of cherries for 89p. They also have 300g of blueberries for 1.99. There are also raspberries and strawberries on offer. In my local aldi today a pineapple was 65p.
The reduced fruit was on offer in one local store I tried but the cherries had gone and I wanted them, so tried another and got them, so hopefully its a nationwide reduction. Asda sell 200g for £2 on the cherries. I usually get cherries from a local fruit stall but the aldi price is even cheaper.0 -

The light latte macchiato chilled coffee (blue top) is one of my favourites too.
Wholemeal rice and pasta appear as Specialbuys but are not regularly stocked at my Aldi and I've never seen them in others . When these products do appear - roughly every 6 months or so - I stock up. There's always a substantial saving.
All the Aldi chicken products I've eaten have been fine, though I haven't tried the Southern Fried chicken. Aldi's standards are very high, in my experience.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... Thanks for the quick reply. I hope they make the wholemeal products a permanent line because buying them now is nearly twice the price of the white alternatives
Next time I'm going to try the southern fried chicken steaks, I'm intrigued now!0
